While I have years of good service here, today I went to pick up my kids glasses and get a pair of my own. When I went to check out I owed $98.50 on my kids and $35 on mine. $425 of mine cost was also taken care by insurance. The girl did not understand and accidentally rang up $425 on my card. When I said was wrong she refunded it. I told her because she did that there would not be enough money to cover what I owe because rather than refunding the difference of what I owed to what they took. Then they said that because I did not have the money to pay for my Sons glasses (Remember they have $425 on hold until the next day) the manager said I would have to give them back. I told her that they already charged me $425 I did not have any more money in the account. She said need glasses back. I said I have already paid $525 on $600 glasses. Then she said I think I own the place and walk and don't talk in that tone to her. (I will admit when I get pissed my voice gets louder as it is loud anyhow). I said a few choice word and tossed my kids glasses at her. I was no longer allowed in store. I grabbed my kid and as I was leaving I said all you needed to was wait until they put the money back in my account then I can clean up. I left. Then I was told no longer allowed in store. Now I admit I can be an ass but not in this case. They made the mistake. They compounded it. And then treated me like I walk room to room and I quote "own the place". My son was in one room and I checked on him. I had to pee so I went to the bathroom. The last time I went to a room was to get the woman who did my glasses order to verify I only owed $35. Dr Amy is great but her manager is awful and rude. Yes I went off on her but only after she said I had to give my sons glasses back and did not want to here what happened. Don't use Lakeside for yourself or your kids. It has truly gone down hill. read more

Fire the manager! Higher and extra front desk person. I rate them a zero and my eye sight got worse in 6 months and eye doctor over looked it, and even over looked the disabilities. When confronted with it. I was then told I needed yet another set of glasses and sunglasses and STILL the prescription is not correct, and the cost astoundingly expensive! I will make it a point to point people in and different direction for care. The hostility that the management has and wrong while trying to embarrass a client is despicable and not correct and yes, I have the receipts, and lack of truth on their part. Not on mine. I broke my glasses at the gym. I carelessly sat on them and broke them. I thought they were ruined but I brought them to Lakeside Vision to see if they could pop the lenses into new frames. Instead of doing that they repaired them and made them good as new. When I asked them how much do I owe them, they told me that the repair was free of charge. I couldn't believe it. Having been a patient of Dr. Amy's for over ten years, I can honestly say that she treats a Person, Not a file folder. She learns her patients needs and foibles. For cataract surgery, she negated the usual suggested surgeon and picked one for my sensitivities. She actually spends time with a patient. There is no rush and done. Her extensive knowledge considers the whole patient. As for the staff she employs: Beverly is the Tech I have most visits. She's professional and still manages to be friendly and personable. I couldn't agree more. I am 100% certain they are scammers here. I decided to go for an eye exam here while spending the summer at my lake house. I've been wearing the same contact lenses for the past 30 years without issue. The optometrist made a huge deal out of the contacts stating that I am at serious risk and basically forced me to change to daily contact lenses and a different brand. I ordered two pairs of glasses which were no name brands yet incredibly expensive. And a years supply of contact lenses. I asked the female optometrist (they are a husband/wife team of scammers) if I can order thru 1/800 contacts and she said no it's illegal because they are "medical devices". Well low and behold my contacts were never delivered to my home address. My eye glasses were delivered to the office. I've called repeatedly about never receiving my contacts and each time I call I'm told that I have to track them down myself because "they cannot tamper with the mail" or that they will do the leg work and get back. Over 2 months later I still don't have the contact lenses and am chalking this up to being scammed out of $1,000. Beware. This place is a complete scam. They need to be investigated. read more

Came by about three months ago and got an eye exam and a pair of glasses for about $500 which I thought was astronomical at the time but it also came with a year of insurance so I thought it was worth it and I was in dire need of glasses ASAP. One month in my glasses broke, the arm fell off. They replaced it and I went on my way. Not even a month later the same thing happens again (probably because the glasses were horrible quality) and when I called because I paid for a year of insurance I was told I am being forced to pay $200 for a replacement pair even though I paid for the year of insurance. My husband and I are new to Hawley. He needed his glasses repaired quickly. We saw the sign and stopped in on Friday, June 24, 2022. The people were so pleasant. We were waited on in 5 minutes. The technician fixed my husband's glasses and didn't charge us at all. She was kind and said it was a minor repair. I noticed there was plenty of staff and everyone seemed very nice. We gave Lakeside Family Vision multiple opportunities to make lemonade from lemons over the course of entrusting them to care for our entire family for 2-years. Frankly, we endured countless problems ranging from condescending customer service to poor product quality to their dispensing inaccurate prescription information to being denied our right to receiving personal contact lens and eyeglass prescriptions so as to buy glasses and/or contacts elsewhere due to Lakeside's inflated prices to questionable specialist referrals to incorrect orders to a certain "pink eye" issue (I'll just leave it at that), etc., etc., etc! One would expect such unbelievably poor performance and breaches of customer trust to result in gushing apologies and attempts to "do the right thing", but instead such was always met with an all-encompassing air of arrogance, push back, and excuses... unreal!! We always try to support local business, however, doing so with Lakeside has gone from the ridiculous to the sublime. In our view (one shared by several people we know), Lakeside is an arrogant, unethical, and money-centric husband-wife/doc-duo operation that shows little or no regard for it's customers. Of course there are a few quality people on the Lakeside staff, and although they are continuously apologetic for the actions of the "ruling couple," they have little to no say regarding the way the owners dictate the business is to be run. I'm generally a positive "reviewer," but this is a warning I felt highly-compelled to share with unsuspecting new customers... Should've learned my lesson the first time I was there. Lots & lots of testing with the bottom line being you don't walk out of there without buying something. The Mr. & Mrs. team try desperately to sell, Sell, SELL. They insist you NEED a change in lenses when you can see OK. They will argue you need reading lenses. Lenses ordered were not working but worse than my old ones. Had to fight with lying doctors to get a refund which she promised until it came time to hand over my check. The lens company got involved possibly helping but it as a battle. Since I had a comfortable old frame they sent it in LOSING my original old lenses which they refused to replace. I got my $500 back but their lenses were useless so I have to replace those lenses anyway. Sure was funny (sad) to hear stories from numerous friends they were screwed too by Lakeside. Seems people who saw these 'doctors' were told they and their family members ALL have genitec eye disease & need to get into Lakeside ASAP!!! Have been going here for over 10years and have always found the entire staff, from the front counter receptionists to the optician to the doctors, to be extremely helpful and conscientious. In fact, both doctors recently took time out of their busy schedules to "visit" myself and another patient to watch our cataract surgery procedures to better enable them to assist in our follow up care. They also have the latest equipment to assist in diagnosing problems to better care for their patients. I can highly recommend them. read more

Lakeside Vision is why we have high insurance claims. I went to have an eye checkup a few years ago. I have always had 20/20 vision. When I walked in they asked if I had insurance and my biggest mistake was saying YES. The next thing I know I had every test imaginable. They told me that I might go blind and wanted me to come in for a second round of evasive tests. I was crying to the nurse and so upset about more tests they wanted to do on a third visit. The receptionist said not to worry all was covered by my insurance plan's extension plan. I was still upset, picked out bifocals which they said I would get used to. I have never been able to use them to read-and of course there was nothing wrong with my 60 year old eyes-just a little dry from old age. I have been receiving a bill for $274.86 which they said insurance didn't cover-after telling me for 3 visits I was covered. I have complained to folks who have called me and they have apologized and now they have me in collection. I have the money-it's the principal of the episode. Not only did they cause me stress-telling me I could go blind, they ripped off my insurance company with all these unnecessary, invasive tests. Now I am stuck with a bill. I would go blind before I would go there. I have many friends who have told me they went through the same experience-please penalize the owners of this establishment. And I did finally pay the bill after they sent their legal team after me. read more

I've never felt so worked over by a money hungry business as I did by Lakeside Vision. We are a family of 5 and new to the area. I scheduled an eye exam for my daughter and when we showed up, they were working us all over to sign up for eye exams. Their services should speak for themselves and the fact that they felt the need to work us over the instant we walked in the door to all come in was very concerning. I'm not even going to get into all the issues with the follow up exam that was billed as a comprehensive exam to our insurance when we did not get any new information from the doctor whatsoever. I scheduled my son for an eye exam and they wanted to have him do a follow up exam for potential color blindness (which they only knew about because I told them). I'm glad I cancelled that appointment because they probably would have billed that as a comprehensive exam too just to make as much money as possible. When I called questioning the bill I received the woman was very condescending and rude. Medical billing is confusing- that's why I called for clarification. But when I already paid the copay for what was referred to as a follow up exam, to be hit with bill for "comprehensive exam" when the doctor gave no additional information is crazy. Any place that has to advertise all over billboards with generic stock photos and works customers for appointments this hard is bad news- stay away!!!! read more

I would not give them one star if I didn't have to. . Had been to them once before and was only mildly happy. Went again this time out of convenience. First exam, " Dr Mike" said I had the beginnings of glaucoma, I needed an eye lift, ( comented that he was having dinner with the surgeon that evening as it so happens) my blood pressure was dangerously high..110/85. etc. Had to come back for more tests. They performed the same tests AGAIN..long story short got lenses couldnt see right. Said I needed more time to adjust even though I was wearing for several weeks. MORE TESTS!. made a third appt and insisted that I wanted to see someone else.Saw "Mrs. Doctor Mike".MORE TESTS!..It turns out my prescription was all wrong. NO glaucoma! Got new glasses 4 months ago, STILL can't see or read.They want me to come back for more testing. Nope! I have ignored their phone calls.I am using 20 dollar " Cheater's " now so I can at least read!. Oh! And they insisted my insurance didn't cover the second lenses until I called insurance and confirmed that they did.Besides, it was the wrong prescription to begin with. Oops! Nice try! We are summer residents here but pretty sure this place will get my next year's exam and contact purchase. The one star says it all- I think not!! I went to lakeside because it was close to home but it has been nothing but a hassle. I was sitting in the waiting room at my second appointment and two girls behind the desk kept looking at me and making comments to each other. Regardless, they want me to come back for a fourth appointment because at the first one they thought I had glaucoma but now they don't? I owe $455 now because they never submitted my claims properly. The last visit they wanted to give me an impromptu eye ultrasound which I am sure would have been thousands of dollars since an office visit alone is $200+. I found Lakeside Vision incredible. They were very courteous at the front desk and on the phone, but the best thing I found was the high quality level of my vision exam I was given both for glasses and contact lenses. My whole body posture was taken into account to see that my eye correction was correct and not adding other problems. It was very thorough and professionally done, swift without wasting time, but taking the proper care to correct my vision because of the experience and expertise of the eye examiner Dr. Amy Neil. I think this area is very fortunate to have such exceptional optical professionals and eye care. Their glasses and eye products are fashionable and very up to date and for a vacationing area it is wonderful to have these options available. I was extremely happy with their services and found the staff very willing to be of help and service, and super well qualified. I was very impressed and grateful for their profession advice. First I was new in area, had a prob w/my eyes went & "Dr. Amy" checked my eyes told me I had various eye ailments & treated with an ointment. 2nd time a yr later I went for same prob. & eye exam. She ran countless tests had me come back a week later. Told me all kinds of things wrong w/my eyes. I felt skeptical something just told me this place was not good.I then went to a qualified ophthalmologist and NOTHING Amy said was true!! I had none of the things she said, wrong w/my eyes! As a retired dentist who will soon be moving to the area, I was interested in establishing a new eye care provider prior to moving. I therefore made an appointment to have my annual eye exam at the Lakeside Vision Center in Hawley, PA. I found Dr. Mike and his staff gave me the most comprehensive eye exam I had ever had. It included all aspects of eye health including color blindness testing; glaucoma; corneal; macular and retinal health, etc. Their equipment is state of the art and CLEAN (every corner of the office and exam rooms are clean and I looked), and I left there feeling like I am in very good hands. They even discovered a retinal issue I had developed in one eye that my retinal specialist back in New Jersey had missed. I found each staff member to be courteous, professional, and informative. Dr. Mike reviewed my entire eye history, discussed at length his findings, and answered all my questions. My wait time might have been a little long once in the office, but it was only because Dr. Mike was giving the previous patients all the time they needed to ask their questions. He extended me that same courtesy. I never begrudge wait time when I know it is for a very good reason. My new glasses will be ready next week, and I cannot wait to receive them. I highly recommend Lakeside Vision to anyone who is seeking professional and comprehensive eye care. read more

I'm not really quite sure where all the negative reviews could possibly be coming from. I've had issues with my eyes very recently and they are actually quite serious. Not just your typical run of the mill issues. This office has done everything they absolutely can to make sure my prescriptions are right, trying whatever they can to make sure i'm going to be okay and to be honest. if i can still see in 5 years it will all be because of their doctors. I can honestly say i don't feel a plastic sort of welcome in any of the staff. I feel truly respected and cared for from the minute I walk in til I leave (and that's after 18 visits thus far). I'm not sure what happened to the other customers here but I really do believe strongly enough in this place to vouch for Lakeside at every level. Also... when my glasses got scratched on a "scratch proof lens". They made sure they were fixed by warranty with no hidden charges and they were back in my hands in less than a week. The people who do the billing.. the doctors... the administrative staff and the medical staff really are the best i've seen anywhere. i'm not saying the person who posted before didn't have a good experience... i just cannot imagine who could have upset them this much. I want to stand outside of this office and warn people to not patronize this lying, conniving, manipulative, unprofessional business. If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would. I went in for a regular eye exam a month ago. I just wanted to get my eyes checked, and order a resupply of contacts for the year. I use my glasses for 5 minutes in the morning and at night, and I wear contacts the rest of the time, so I was not interested in getting glasses. A few different well-meaning ladies led me through a series of tests, none of which I'm sure they had any idea the purpose of, then I was introduced to Dr. Amy, who checked my eyes and told me my eyes had gone up to -9.50. They've been at -8.50 for years, so I found this highly suspicious, but I said okay. I told her I've used Acuvue Advanced until they discontinued it, and now Acuvue Oasys for years, and that was what I wanted to stick with. Dr. Amy scolded me for this, told me that two week contacts are HORRIBLE for my eyes, and wanted to switch me to daily use contacts. I said I really wasn't comfortable with that, as the price would be a lot higher, but she absolutely insisted. They must be getting a LARGE sum of money by selling dailies, because she pushed it so hard, until I finally relented when she offered to give me a couple of trial pairs for a few days. I came back in a few days later after a few days of wearing the uncomfortable dailies that I didn't want, and told Dr. Amy very firmly that I wanted two-week Acuvue Oasys. Dr. Amy DOWNRIGHT LIED TO ME, telling me that they no longer made that. They most certainly do, although I didn't find it out until later. She gave me the option of a different brand of two-week lenses, but assured me that I was ruining my eyes by wearing them. Ok, crazy lady. She gave me a trial pair of THOSE, and told me to come back in two weeks. I came back in two weeks later, and told her again I did NOT want the different brand of two-week lenses, I'd prefer Acuvue, even if it was monthly. She kept strongly warning me against it, but then said she'd have to ORDER a trial pair, I'd have to come in and pick them up, wear them for a while, and then come back and tell her how they are, so she could order a year's supply for me. I said ok, anything to get me away from you right now before I blow up in her face. I considered not going back. They called me a few days later and said the trial pair was in. I decided to give them one more shot. I stopped by on my way to work and asked for the trial pair. The receptionist told me to have a seat. That's odd, I just want to fucking PICK UP A TRIAL PAIR OF CONTACTS. I waited. and waited. and waited. for almost forty minutes. Until finally an optician came over and told me that Dr. Amy had to physically see me in the contacts in order to let me go home with, again, A TRIAL PAIR. So let's count so far. One eye exam, two VERY short appts where she tried to con me into things I didn't want, one appt where I waited and then was told I couldn't take home a trial pair until Dr. Amy saw me. All of this JUST TO REORDER A SUPPLY OF CONTACTS. So that was it. I would have had to have three more visits to that godawful place: one more to pick up the trial pair, one more to tell Dr. Amy how the trial pair felt and order contacts, and a last one to pick up the supply. No fucking thanks. I've never in my life had more than TWO visits in a year - one eye exam, and one appointment to pick up the ordered contacts, and this would've made seven. How absurd is that? I made another eye appointment for a different business nearby, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if my eyes hadn't gotten worse, and Dr. Amy had totally gotten my prescription wrong too. They seem just that kind of incompetent. I also forgot to mention that they conned me into getting glasses that again, I didn't want or need, but that's another story too long to type. Their customer service is just downright atrocious, and I sincerely hope if you are reading this you pick ANY other eye doctor in the area, there are plenty. read more

My benefits statement came from my provider and two codes were billed for one test that took less than 5-10 minutes for over $300. They also told me that they could not mail me a copy of my eye glass Rx but rather I had to drive 18 miles to pick it up. Poor customer service to say the least! And don't get me started on the itemized invoice I requested to clarify the "test" charges and received due the day of receipt. showing that it was 31-60 days..but I never had received one in the first place read more
