I always thought hospice nurses were the best and trusted in their care and experience. I could not have been more wrong about this place. I gave specific, detailed instructions for communication with me which were not followed. Not once was I contacted that my mom had lost so much weight or when she had turned the corner. My brother lived nearby but did not know enough to know the signs of death coming, and it should NOT have been on his shoulders-that is the job of hospice. I only found out my parent was dying because I knew enough about the signs to recognize it from what he described. I had to fly down at the last minute only to find it was too late. I thought Lakeview did a great job for my friend who passed away yesterday. The patients brother had me move in on Thursday to help the patient. He came home Friday at 5pm and Jennifer was wonderful, knowledgeable and compassionate & understanding. Just what the family needed. Unfortunately, he passed away Saturday morning at 8:30 am. You only get one chance to do hospice right and in our experience this is NOT the company you want to use. After moving out 98 year old mother from a hospital to a care center after a stroke we wanted to proceed by honoring her wishes and medical directive. The case manager nurse Sarah spent 10 minutes looking at her while she was sleeping and took her blood pressure and determined that her doctors recommended dosage of meds was not appropriate. She believed a lower dose/frequency was appropriate. She was miserable every moment she wasn't sleeping. The next day Evelyn, another nurse from the facility came and checked her blood pressure and said she looks fine (she was sleeping) She said she could have additional pain meds if needed but we believe said it just to appease us as she is unable to communicate due to her condition and language barrier. The next day we requested that hospice change the dosage as she was becoming increasingly agitated and uncomfortable. Her doctor reiterated that it was insufficient. We just wanted to alleviate the ups and down of pain and discomfort for her, especially during the hours we were unable to be there. iWe were very upset Evelyn was insensitive , unsympathetic and disinterested in hearing anything we said. She said if we didn't like the way they were handling the care to fire them. After she left we put a call in to speak with the Director. His name is Armando. Speaking with him was the confirmation that if we wanted her to be comfortable and well taken care of as she wished in her medical directive that a change of providers was necessary. We did that immediately and although she only has a few days to live she is now comfortable.. it is painful to watch your lobed one helplessly approach the end of life and you have to be their advocate. You need a great hospice company to be there for them. To care about them and fulfill their wishes. This company disappointed us during every interaction. Glad we fired them ( thanks Evelyn for suggesting it). read more

All the staff were so friendly. Our father was moved to a place in El Monte CA. where he shared a room but since our father was bedridden his roommate stood sitting in the living room. We have a large family and our dad had many visitors. My mom thought the room was to small, but is worked fine for all of us since most everyone was in and out all day. The Hospice staff was Great along with the staff the stayed with our dad and watched over him and 5 other people there. Our father passed away there and never made it home but my mom was and is still so appreciative of everyone that cared for our father. He was cleaned and changed everyday. Thank you Maria Lopez and all your staff for taking such good care of our dad in his last days. You all made it so much easier for our mom who is 94. Our parent were married 72 years and my mom wanted the best for our father so he could pass away peacefully. Mom wanted to bring him home but it was best for him with his issues that he had all the proper care. Maria and her staff, did just that. My grandmother recently passed away and my family is glad we found Lakeview Hospice. Three months ago we found out my grandma needed to be placed on hospice for comfort care. Her doctor recommended a hospice which we signup up with but they would never answer their calls after hours or deliver the meds on time. So we finally decided to search for another hospice and that's when we came across Lakeview and transferred to their services. I wish we had found them from day one because their nurses are so compassionate and caring. Our phone calls were answered around the clock and nurses were available to visit at all hours of the day. Our loved ones only die once and it's important to choose the right hospice provider. I would recommend Lakeview to anyone who has a family member in need of comfort care. read more

My grandfather was under the care of Lakeview Hospice Care for eight months up until his death in October 2023. I feel like anything Hospice related is set up for failure. Everyone has different expectations and requirements as all we want is top quality care for our loved ones! Lakeview Hospice definitely made the process easier. Initially, hospice was recommended to us by his assisted living facility when his insurance was unable to provide home health nursing care. We were reluctant to go this route because it felt like "giving up." Lakeview Hospice Care educated us on what hospice could provide and that we could opt out of hospice any time. We signed up and never once regretted that decision. The hospice team caring for my father, from RN's , CNA's, social workers were all excellent and compassionate. They all kept in regular communication with us and answered all our questions. My grandfather's quality of life immediately improved and I believe his life was extended by several months due to the high quality of care delivered by his care team. When he did pass, Lakeview Hospice Care went above and beyond to make sure he was as comfortable as possible. Following his death, the bereavement services stepped in to provide counseling to us and checked in on how we were doing. My family and I are forever grateful to everyone at Lakeview Hospice Care and recommend them highly. They make the process of hospice as easy and comfortable as possible. Do not use this hospice! When our loved one died and we called them, they told us to call 911. When paramedics and police responded, this hospice had taken our only copy of the DNR. We were told that we should have called hospice. We had. When the police tried to call the hospice doctor, there was no one on call. When we complained to the hospice supervisor, he said that we were lying. He actually used that word. He said that the police were lying also! Most of the nurses were quite kind and empathetic. One came ill-equipped to do her job as she could not turn or move the patient to bathe him. We have had good experiences with hospice companies in the past. This was not one of those companies. They should not be in business. read more

This review is largely due to one horrible experience we had with one of the LVNs, Elizabeth, and her hostile attitude towards the end of my grandfather's life. A family member had been told by Elizabeth that my grandfather would likely pass within a few hours and family should come to say their goodbyes. As family trickled in, we have family members who are medical doctors and registered nurses who disagreed with her assessment and did not want her to start administering medications as they thought it has no indication. I personally arrived toward the end of the conversation and walked in to see Elizabeth yelling at my family that they were interfering with her practice, that we are attempting life saving measures (when they were trying to give my grandpa some water) then storming towards the door and slamming it behind her. I was confused- just walking in with a couple of my cousins but per family that was there, she became offended when the medical doctor in my family questioned her and what she was saying. Nonetheless, I was livid at how my family was just treated when we were arriving, expecting him to pass quickly. I am a registered nurse and I can say how she acted was appalling. As a nurse, I am disgusted and angry that this is how this nurse treats her patients- who knows how she treats those who don't know any better or aren't able to stand up for themselves. Nurses working in hospice should understand better than anybody that this is a very emotionally charge situation and therefore there are going to be questions. Elizabeth should have taken the time to try to explain to us what was happening as opposed to getting upset, yelling at us, and then slamming the door not even 10 feet from where my dying grandfather lay purely because she expected us to blindly follow her instruction. She has a serious anger issue, and she needs to get help or she should not be working this profession. I work with dying people every single day and never once have I treated them even remotely close to how she treated my family. The other nurses and the RN who came the next day when above and beyond to make us feel comfortable in understanding the process and apologizing for what we experienced the day before. My grandfather did not pass for another three days after that horrible incident, but I hope that Elizabeth gets the help she needs or gets out of this profession. We never received an apology from her- and as both a nurse and a family member of one of her patients, I am still angry and truly just disappointed that this is what families have to experience during what is one of the hardest times of their lives. The lack of compassion, empathy, kindness, and pure control over her own emotions is despicable and appalling. I'd advise families looking for a hospice company to look elsewhere or request someone other than Elizabeth. I wouldn't wish this experience I've had on anyone. read more

Hospice care normally is a difficult time. During this time of Covid-19 things are exceptionally challenging. My dear friend and neighbor, who I cared for personally for over 10 years decided it was time to "move on." Granted that is always a difficult decision, but Lakeview hospice and staff jumped in and gave me as well as my friend Douglas peace of mind. The staff, especially Nelli the social worker, took our case personal and walked me through some very difficult and stressful times. I felt that the entire staff empathized with me about our decision and what later became my ultimate decision. I hope I have a team like this when it comes time for me to transition. What an amazing team. This is the company to hire for your loved one. Caring, patient, professional, reliable, supportive... I wish I could give them ten stars. Some background. My 81 year old mom fought a good fight with breast cancer and then ultimately made the decision to go with hospice. Unfortunately the first hospice organization (and pretty well-known) was totally screwball. We had daily struggles about meds, equipment and services. The family made the switch to Lakeview (Priority) Hospice in Burbank, and it was the best decision we could have made for mom at this stage of her life. From the get go, the quality and the compassion of the nurses, case manager, and entire support staff were astounding. Instead of fighting to get someone on the phone, Lakeview's team were reaching out to us to check in, and provide support. They really do pick up the phone and are there to help 24/7! They were responsive, communicative, and helpful at every turn. Mom looked forward to her daily visits from the nurses and Ken, the chaplain. As she neared the end of her life they advocated for her, attended to her, held her hand, and made her passing as comfortable as possible. Afterwards, the staff continued to reach out to the family to provide support. I love this bunch. The family is so grateful to Lakeview Hospice for always responding to our needs and exceeding expectations. read more
