Took my husband here after a shoulder injury. Check in was insanely smooth. You just scan the patient ID and all the paper work is filled out. There was no wait. We didn't even sit, they came right out. The RN was way cool and friendly. My husband was in excruciating pain (nasty ac seperation). The RN didn't waste any time getting an IV and morphine ordered for him. She was very observant and attentive in the time we were there and asked if he needed something else. My husband needs elephant tranquilizers to barely make him yawn. Nothing works for him, but she got his pain under control without wasting time. The girl who came to take his xrays was concerned about his pain and immediately grabbed a sling. What a life saver! Dr. Van Grinkel was really fast to tend to him. He got his x-rays ordered, looked at them and diagnosed him in less than 30 minutes. The lady that registers patients was very kind and pleasant. She was in and out quickly. The doctor was describing an AC separation of the clavicle. He said it looked up, out and backwards. He said there was a big chance of surgery. He wasted no time and called the orthopedic surgeon to make them aware we were coming in first thing in the morning. Their teamwork was flawless. This was truly an EMERGENCY room. Too many times I thought I was in an ER, but didn't realize I was disrupting social hour and ended up spending many, unecessary, frustrating hours waiting. Our experience here was a good one. It was what you should expect from an ER. Some people think ERs are fixer upper cure alls. No, they are there to help manage the pain, get you stabilized and send you in your way with a referral to a specialist. The Intermountain Medical Center aka, "The Death Star" is where you want to go for a real in your face hospital experience. You know, where you get the drugged out guy yelling at the gunshot patient who is in the same room as a pregnant lady with high blood pressure. Fun fun. Lakeview is the hospital you go to if you just need an ER that will get shiz done. Side note: Today, we went to the orthopedic surgeon they referred us to. He said he completly agreed with the hospital notes and diagnosis and was able to tell us in more detail of what happened. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. Lakeview did an excellent job. Pros: -Good cafeteria (tasty liver and onions!) -Good gift shop, where I bought a teddy bear -Good private practice specialists who work there occasionally -Good anesthesiologist Cons: -Nurse who took 8 tries to get IV in (which is violation of practice for a single person) before relenting to another nurse practitioner -Nurses who neither washed their hands nor sanitized them upon entering the room -Accidentally mixing up the charts of two patients who went through mildly similar surgeries (breast reduction patient with an abdominal surgery patient) -Brusque, bad-bedside mannered, non-listening "respiratory specialist" who turned out later NOT to be the respiratory specialist but a doctor with a background in respiratory health. The actual respiratory specialist was furious at this. In short, the surgery (not mine) was successful, and the actual specialist surgeon was a dream-and-a-half, and the nurses in recovery were quite nice. However, I can absolutely tell why this hospital has the nickname of "Deathview." read more

They charged me $2000.00 for an ibuprofen. I will never come back and do not recommend it's unethical practices to anyone

After leaving my previous review I just wanted to update that I was able to sit down with the head of the billing the department and he was very helpful and apologetic for the mistakes made on our account. I am changing my review as a result of our conversation. Since we loved the care and nurses in the maternity ward we are so happy to know that there are people there that can sit down and make things right when mistakes are made. I wish we had spoken with him before! I'm glad to know we can use Lakeview in the future for deliveries. I would just suggest that you pay attention to the bills and speak with someone in charge if you have questions from the start. Hospitals are businesses and up-charges and mistakes happen. The care in the maternity ward was excellent though and we would love to deliver there in the future! read more

Bad service. Brought my mom here a little after 7 and they told us after 35 minutes shouldn't take that long to get her what she needed but 4 1/2 hour later still here while other staff looked for the doctor once again for prescriptions. Time after time each staff member that came and assisted told us they would be back shortly only for me to look for someone an hour later. I went in with severe abdominal pain, in as much as I had pain in my chest too. The offset felt like kidney stones however in the bowels. The ER dr. told me I didnt have covid. (That was not even a concern) I showed him photos in my phone of cysts. I had never seen cysts in stool before but there was a huge amount of pain with it. He ordered a CT after all was said and done there was no resolution. I was doubled in pain. The ER Doc had another doc call me with the results of my CT. All he'd say is that it was much too complicated for him to treat and go get a second opinion. read more

I feel bad, I do feel they are short staffed but want to get people in and out asap with a bill. I have lost property there. It may just be the ER that struggles, but they had all of my property but my phone. I called everywhere else it could have been, and I just feel like they are too busy and short staffed to take care of our needs. read more

Emergency Services: Our daughter was taken to Lakeview in an emergency. Very attentive and caring. It was late at night and they graciously let us have a room and brought in the Chaplin for comfort. So respectful and kind. We have nothing but praise and gratitude for Lakeview Hospital!! read more

I am MORTIFIED. My daughter had a kidney stone, we went here as it is the local hospital for us. I should have driven to LDS instead. At the time, we thought our insurance was in effect, but it did not start for 3 days, so we were totally responsible for the bill. When we received it, it was OVER $8700!!!!! (This did not include the doctor, who we were also billed separately for, and we didn't see a doctor during the entire visit). We KNEW there had to be some mistake. I have paid less to have surgery AND have a baby. When I called their billing office requesting an ITEMIZED statement to see exactly what this $8700 entailed, they were attempting to bill my insurance, and argued with me about it. They acted as if they didn't want to send me the itemized bill to see what this total broke down to be. I realized that because were attempting to bill our insurance, it was fraudulent as the insurance would have simply paid it and not questioned it. But as a private payer, we now had to inspect it closer. When I finally received the itemized bill 2 MONTHS later it had almost $2200 for 4 hours in the ER. And $4600 for a CT scan. The median charge for a CT scan is about $500 in our area, the very top amount in our area for a CT scan is about $2200. This was OVER double the highest price. Do NOT GO HERE. You are warned. I have contacted an attorney, am writing a ripoff report and will be contacting the local news to blow the whistle on this. Its insane. read more

If I could give a negative number I would. This hospital was supposed to have my sister on suicide watch. Instead of checking on her like they were supposed to, they ignored her and she was able to kill herself. Words cannot describe how devastated our family has been. I went in just the other night for massive head pain. The doctors and nurses were extremely rude and had the attitude that they didn't want to be there. They did a brain scan to see if I had a bleed and then later my wife heard them say "has he slept it off yet?" Like what was happening was no big concern to them. Visited the ER chest pain clinic. They were GREAT. ER Doctor was thorough and very clear in his assessments. Nurses Levi and Brea were also TERRIFIC. Admitting clerk even got my wife a Diet Coke while we were waiting for blood tests and x-ray results. Couldn't have asked for better experience under the auspices of chest pain. read more

The emergency room staff here is great! I've had to come here twice since moving here, I had the worst migraine i'de had in a long time. I went in to the ER here in March of this year for severe chest pains. I was admitted and had an EKG done and the typical blood work. The staff was very unprofessional. The dr on call was a total joke. I have heart issues and a major birth defect which he totally ignored when I explained my heart history. He didn't care nor could he even explain anything to me. I think he cheated his way through medical school because he didn't even know what I was referring too with my heart valve. I have NEVER seen such negligence with the way my visit was handled overall. Also, on a side note, they had a major sewage break right near my room and I heard everything! It was very disgusting and when confronted about the situation, they pretended to not know what I was asking. The wait time was ridiculously long for no reason. They weren't busy but they will make u wait for hours with no update nor answers. I give this hospital a complete fail and would definitely recommend anywhere else but here. They will bill you this insane and ridiculous amount of bills for five mins of a dr not caring about your situation or concerns. NEVER AGAIN LAKEVIEW! Your hospital is a let down and is atrocious when it comes to being professional. You lied beforehand on billing questions when I called multiple times before coming to your crappy ER. I would never recommend their inpatient psychiatric program. Oh where to begin. They gave me pants and a hospital gown to change into that was way to small. They said that was all they had- I stayed in my room till I could get my clothing back because the clothing did not cover me. I was there because I was suicidal. The psychiatrist felt I was making things up, I needed to start going to groups - I had been going to every group. He took me to mental health court to try to take away my say in what I felt I needed. I won but after that he ha a HUGE attitude about you know everything so what are you going to do.. and then he would go off on a tyraid on how bad of a person I am, how I was a "verry verry sick person who needed years and years of therapy" yet he refused to help me figure anything out. the only help I got is what I gave myself It got bad enough I tried to kill myself in the hospital. That did get me one to one but no one would help me try to figure things out or help me figure what I needed to do to get better. Glad there are other options out there read more

I had gone into the hospital on Tuesday, the staff was really nice and got me to be seen pretty fast but once I was in the back room they took 4 hours to do everything they needed to for me all because others came in and so they stopped helping me and helped them. I was trying to find out if I was having a miscarriage, this is my first pregnancy. They couldn't tell me after 4 hours if I was having a miscarriage or not so they sent me to an OGBYN 2 days later and they had to do more test. I got sent BACK to the hospital to get more blood test done after the OGBYN. Once I was back at the hospital they had to get more blood. They had to get blood twice because the doctor either didn't fully read my papers or just forget that they had to get my blood type. (And the doctor from the hospital on Tuesday told my doctor at the OGBYN that my HCG levels were at 300 when really they were at 33) giving out false information. Finally after 3 days they told me that I was having a miscarriage. They have made this the worst experience of my life and worse hospital/OGBYN visit ever. It shouldn't take 3 days to tell a woman if she's having a miscarriage or not. The longer you guys wait to tell the woman the more it hurts her because she doesn't know. And once again this was my first pregnancy and first hospital/OGBYN visit ever, also I'm going to be charged out my butt for all this when I don't have the money. read more

I was having chest pains and numbness in my arms at a car show in Bountiful. The EMT's checked me out and said they wanted to take me to the hospital. My wife was there and I didnt want to pay for the ambulance ride so we just drove to Lakeview. I dont know why we didn't go to the "U" or to another good hospital but we ended up at lakeview. The staff at the front desk was wonderful, the nurses were great, however, the doctor was terrible. I saw him for a total of about one minute, 30 seconds when I got there after the nurses had got all of my information and 30 seconds after I had been there a couple hours and did a bunch of tests. He came in and said it was nothing, he couldn't see anything wrong. He didn't give any theories of what might have happened, didn't tell me to do anything or not to do anything just that he couldn't find anything wrong and walked out of the room. I had a very physical weekend planned and asked the nurse if the DR. was coming back so I could ask him if I could follow through with my plans, she left and came back and told me I was fine to do whatever I wanted, the DR didn't even bother to come back and tell me himself. Then of course you get his bill. WOW, that is good money for one minute of work. I have lived in Bountiful all my life and everyone knows you don't go to Lakeview. I don't know what we were thinking but once again we have been reminded that there are great hospitals (Primary's and UofU) a short drive away. Don't go here, make the drive to Salt Lake. read more

The facility is clean and updated. The staff are friendly and caring. They took great care of my mom during her surgery and stay.

Pre-op nurses are fine, as are the doctors I have interacted with. However, the post-op nurses treated my pain intensity with very little care. I was in tears and writhing in agony, two hours after my pain medicine was supposed to have kicked in, and they said "suck it up and be patient." Ugh. Never going back. read more

It's scary when you realize as a parent you can't fix everything. My adult daughter had been struggling for a long time with depression and her suicidal thoughts had increased. She agreed to go to the ER and we went to Lakeview. They were amazing!! Kind, compassionate, and very reassuring. From registration to nurses, crisis workers, and doctors, everyone was awesome. They were so respectful of her rights, and supportive of me as well. The only anxiety we had was when they told us she couldn't be admitted at Lakeview as they were full. They communicated at every step of the way and the only wish I have is that she could have been admitted there. I've been a support person for others struggling with mental health issues and been in a few of the area hospital ERs with them, and the care and concern shown to us at Lakeview is like none other I have seen elsewhere. We have had an absolutely horrible experience working with Lakeview. 1. Sleep lab has incorrect phone number on Lakeview Website 2. Our doctor sent the referral to Lakeview for a sleep lab and we never received a call (after waiting over 1 month) so our doctor sent a follow up referral and we waited and still never received a call, so we had to call into them, but because there was an incorrect phone number on the website we had a difficult time locating somebody. Additionally, often when we called in we went to a voicemail during business hours. 3. We had to wait a month to be seen in the sleep lab 4. The day before our sleep lab appointment they called and said we needed information from our insurance and that they would have to cancel unless they got this information. Because they were not able to get the information they needed in time, they had to cancel the appointment and would not reschedule until they had information from insurance.... Why did they only tell us the day before the appointment when the appointment had been scheduled the month before? By the time we finally got it scheduled it had been 4 months since the doctor initially referred us to the sleep lab. 5. Sleep lab results took over 2 weeks and we had to call and follow up in order to get them rushed. 6. They called us and offered a 10% discount if we prepaid, so we prepaid the account. Two months after prepaying this account we noticed no claims had gone through insurance. Shouldn't they be following up with insurance? No, because we already paid the bill so they have no interest in following up! So we followed up and they resubmitted the claim and said to call back in 10-14 business days. We followed up after that window, and it still hadn't gone through insurance. We requested a refund and they refused even though we weren't required to pay anything in the first place. In Summary - Administration at Lakeview is absolutely horrible and we will never go through them again! The service of the nurses were great, but not worth the administrative disaster you have to go through! read more

My elderly friend went to the emergency room because she was very sick. They took blood samples and urine sample and sent her home. A week later she is still very sick, and the hospital will not provide her with her test results 'due to HEPA' regulations. Her doctor called and could not get the results. When we called, we were told that her results would be provided once she was seen by the heart specialist that they recommended. Another way to get the results would be to show up in person. She can not drive, and she is very sick, but they will not even mail the test results to her. Do not go here. Although the ER staff was very friendly, the visit was a complete waste of time. No test results, no follow up, no call from the hospital, sent home as sick and uninformed as the moment she was brought in. read more

In all the times I have been in hospitals, I have never ever been so impressed before like this. Every person I have encountered is kind and considerate . My daughter in law had surgery and from the check in people,to nurses, to gift shop to housekeeping were terrific. Her doctors were also fabulous. The place is clean and nice. I've lived in the Bountiful area on and off for the past 30 years. To date, I have not had a positive experience at this "hospital". It's been a convenience--that's it. -My wife was getting a routine procedure done; they almost killed her when the doctor left the operating room for no apparent good reason, and left someone else to close her up. Long story short, see almost bled-out, and it took them hours to figure out she needed to be given blood. They had no problem charging us for the additional care she needed as a result of their negligence and poor care. The doctors and nurses all went into the "we did nothing wrong" mode. This is typical for most hospitals, but no one seemed to want to acknowledge that this was a horrible mistake on their part. -My daughter and I were brought to Lakeview after an auto accident. They gave us minimal care; gave us a clean bill of health; we both needed to be checked into another hospital the next day. The doctor's were shocked we were both released. When the doctor's requested our records from Lakeview, they were never sent over. The doctor's needed to re-do the tests that Lakeview had done, and order tests that Lakeview never thought of doing in the first place. I had an MRI scheduled; showed up for my appointment; was told that they didn't have time to do my MRI and to re-schedule for a later date. They really expressed no concern that maybe my time was important, or that this is something they should have taken care of when I was brought in by ambulance, and little regard was given to my condition at that time, either. NO MORE!!! I'm done with Lakeview. They are a pathetic excuse for a "hospital". They've tried to clean up their image, but this PR campaign is nothing more than lipstick on a pig. read more

I was seen only by a very unprofessional P.A. and never a doctor, given two tests, discharged after two hours, no diagnosis, and shockingly billed $4,900 for their emergency service. Crazy! Avoid the ER at all costs and go to U of U or IMC if you truly have an emergency. read more

I paid the bill in full up front (over 2k) and then Lakeview hospital "accidentally" billed my insurance another 2k; a double billing. The financial counselors and hospital administrators do not ever answer the phone. I have called on multiple days and been transferred at least 20 times to nobody there. I got one call back and they seemed to have no idea how the billing worked and nothing was resolved. They didn't get back with me. It seems they are hiding from people. It is my opinion that they don't want anyone to contact them for any reason. I called the governing body MountainStar in cottonwood heights and they just hung up on me when I asked what they did. They simply wanted me to go back to Lakeview voicemail. My personal opinion is that they don't want anyone to contact them for any reason. I think that's why there is one operator and nobody else picks up and a lot of people also don't return phone calls. Anyways, it sure is easier to let them overbill. I have let overbilling go many times just because it's such a pain to try to correct it. I find their business practices loathsome. What other company is there that doesn't know what they charge, routinely overbills, and doesn't provide someone to answer the phone or correct issues. Yeah, this is all my opinion. I was scheduled for outpatient surgery in the afternoon on 1 December. The evening before the surgery the hospital calls to confirm things, give me last minute instructions, and tell me that after insurance my share of the bill would be approximately $1500. At 7AM the next morning I get a call from them asking if there was anyway I could come in immediately. My wife and I both throw our clothes on and headed out. They start to prep me immediately upon arrival and my wife goes to register me. During that process, they tell her our portion of the bill is now approximately $1000 if she paid it immediately. Which she did. On 4 January they send us out a bill showing that we owe and additional $500. When I called and got a customer service representative I expressed my concern about the change in the amount we had to pay. The nub of the response was, "Tough! Do you want to set up a payment plan, or have this referred for collection?" What I really want is not to be deceived. read more

This place is nuts. I think they are just so short staffed that the nurses can't perform their duties. I left before I was ready because I figured I could take much better care of myself at home. Asking for my pain pill, my normal pills, see why my IV is beeping continuously, my IV is out of my arm and squirting fluid, etc: EVERY TIME it's 45 minutes to 2 and 1/2 hours later when a nurse finally shows up. I was told I'd get the catheter out in the morning and to begin walking around.Trying to get someone in to assist me with that by taking out the IV, catheter, etc. wasn't happening. I had a list of pills I was to take morning, noon, evening and bedtime. They were SO negligent about getting them to me that I pulled out the filled pill container I had brought in my suitcase and took care of that myself. After I'd had enough, I took off all the attachments I could, got dressed and went to the nurses station to get discharge papers and to get outta there. Even that took 45 minutes! The CNA was incredible though. She checked the head of my bed and changed it to the proper elevation, fixed the oxygen tube in my nose as it was on the side of my cheek, checked the catheter and bag, everything. I had thrown a pillow at the door to shut it because a pervert visiting someone across the hall was gawking in at me. The CNA picked it up, changed the case and gave it back to me. A nurse also had dropped a pillow on the floor and just picked it up and stuck it behind my head. YUCK. I wish I knew the name of the one snotty nurse. But I don't blame the nurses. I think they were running around non-stop and were getting calls for help all the time. I think it's the hospital not willing to pay for needed staff. It was the most ridiculous experience I've ever had at a hospital. I'll never go there again. read more

Poor quality overall but with some good aspects. The wait time is insufferable but that's to be understood with the amount of car crash injuries nearby. I don't recommend getting any gynecology work done here they will make your female parts suffer to the point of tears and care very little. They charge ridiculous prices too which sucks but that's healthcare here for you. read more

Terrible hospital, with a very loud, and critical staff that is seemingly unaware of the way their voices carry into rooms. Thank you for the bill and the forced CT scan, a horrible reminder of why never to go to hospitals unless you are physically hurt. Mental illnesses, and suicidal patients beware they are not afraid to 'blue slip' you and force you to pick up the tab for unneeded tests. I did adore their crisis management staff, who are great even though you get to talk to them through skype. Long story short, if you hurt yourself you are better off waiting for a room at UNI. Instead of receiving help, I was detained, had my rights removed, blood and urine collected, and a CT scan without regard to my will not too. Now I am up a $1300 bill due to the fact they don't take my insurance. Salt and vinegar to my open wound. Throw debt on the depressed, and reap your profits. To say the least I believe this hospital lacks moral fiber. read more

I have never had to spend the night in a hospital before and was very nervous about it. I had surgery here, and from the moment I got there everyone was amazing. The nurse who prepped me for surgery just had this calming nature and helped me fell much more at ease. The anesthesiologist was wonderful, my doctor was wonderful, and the nurses were kind and caring even when they were super busy. I watched and from my observation, the nurses and cna's sanitized upon entry and leaving the room. Honestly I have nothing bad to say about this hospital. I don't know why it has such an awful nickname. The staff were even encouraging and non judgemental when I mentioned I had given birth in a birth center and not a hospital. I am super grateful for the care I received. Okay, the food was awful.But it's hospital food. Service is way more important to me. read more

Both my wife and I have been treated at Lakeview Hospital. The staff and physicians are all friendly and courteous. I am a difficult patient to treat and everyone did everything possible to make me feel comfortable in a very uncomfortable situation. I was in emergency for nine hours and they worked constantly to save my life. I am very thankful they were close by and that they have the dedication shown at this hospital. My wife also entered with an extreme emergency and received the same professional treatment. I will not feel any worry about receiving treatment at this facility again. read more
