I visited in December and it's not as noticeable or something that's a standout feature as it would be in the summer time. However upon arrival it looks very historic and old regal glamour. Parking is definitely old school with two small lots right in front only ... in the summertime it's probably not a big deal but wintertime it sucked. We had to park in another lot on the backside of the resort instead of in the front two lots right outside the lobby -- which made it a bit more difficult if you had heels on and had to walk a ways from the car to the hotel with the snowy icy ground. The rooms were veeeeery old school and in need of renovation. The wood didn't match -- from the dresser to the doors to the bathroom vanity. Flooring was really old and carpet was stained in many areas. Water damage on ceiling and the bed was quite stiff, not comfortable at all. Our room was very drafty which made it difficult to lounge without have a good pair of warm sweats or jacket. I wouldn't have been pleased if I was staying here for a long period, luckily my stay was just one evening. The bartender was very very nice -- she was personable and tried her best to change the channels on one of the TVs to what I wanted to watch. She was quick with the drinks and made them to my liking. The front desk staff were also very pleasant and friendly. They were quick with the check in and check out process as well. Overall I was underwhelmed with this resort. Perhaps winter is just not the time to visit as there is not much to do in the tiny town and the Christmas market that happens across the street honestly wasn't anything superb (we have several Christmas markets in the Twin Cities which are MUCH more superb to this one). Perhaps the summertime is the best time to visit to enjoy the true beauty of the surroundings which may make up for the old school regal of this resort.

My wife is disabled and travels with a small service dog who is always vested, carries an ID card, and is registered and certified; this was noted in our online booking. This was our first stay at any B&B of *any* size; in the past two years we've spent 36 nights at hotels both independent and branded. The room we stayed in, the Moose Room, is very well-equipped with exquisite attention to detail. The bed was pleasure to sleep in and had the most comfortable sheets we've ever encountered in a hotel room. A two-person Kohler whirlpool tub is in the main room. We were astounded at how quickly the tub filled and we were never short of hot water. The shower has a very inexpensive nozzle on it; a removable or rainfall style showerhead would be more befitting the quality of the rest of the room. I can say that Tausheck's is an extremely high quality facility with extreme attention to detail and very comfortable rooms. The Tausheck's should be commended for the quality of the B&B. Unfortunately, I can't say we will be back since we now know that this isn't the type of place for us given our unique situation, which probably doesn't apply to you. If you're a couple looking for a romantic getaway in the "greater Sheboygan" area, I'd highly recommend Tausheck's and think you'd have a great time there. --postscript-- My previous review (which I edited and have subsequently raised the rating to three stars) dealt with some exchanges with the innkeepers specific to accommodating my spouse's service dog. Given that this was the first time that the innkeepers dealt with a service dog in their 12 years of existence, they did accommodate us the best they could with the knowledge they had at the time. We learned after our stay that inns of this size are exempt from the Americans with Disabilities Act as there are 5 or fewer rooms - see 28 C.F.R. § 36.104. This wasn't known to us, or the innkeepers at the time of our stay, so it's unfair for me to dive into the specifics. That being said, I hope that the B&B's web site is revised to reflect this so that any other guests having a similar situation to ours are aware in advance and can make the appropriate decision.

Woman came out asa we rang the bell, seemed very friendly, checked in the first room, we asked if we could all be on the same floor, Seemed to take her a long time to verify this, while were waiting, the other guy came in and started checking in two other couples, w/in min they had their keys and were heading to their room, meanwhile we are still waiting. Finaly she gets the first room done, then were told we would have to wait for the other two rooms as they still were not cleaned by this time is was 6 pm! She stated while she was working on our first room, the guy right next to her gave the other two rooms to the other two couples that had came in, I mean this is how fast he was and how slow she was, obviously no communication between them, I mean we reserved these rooms over a week in advance. She stated they had a big sports group the night before and they checked out late which is why they were behind. Not sure how that is my fault? Wonder what they were going to if we had arrived mid morning! When i expressed my displeasure she literaly stated "well I dont know what you want me to do about it"! Then the same guy comes out from the back and asks if she checked with the cleaning crew and I'm not kidding w/in minutes we were being assigned rooms, not on the same floor but at least we had rooms. Then he offered us a free snack from their little snack room, not much but at least HE offered something! Then to top it off we all had to give a cc or dc for a $100 to be put on hold for incidentals! We prepaid our rooms when we reserved them and no one once stated that would be needed! Finally get to our rooms. Mine has slight smell to it, peeling wallpaper by the windows. The curtains had holes in them that are clearly noticable when closed where daylight came through. But for me the worst was the bed, springs! So uncomfortable, I finaly gave up and finaly went and slept on the small sofa, at least it was more comfortable if too small. Unfortunately it was the same for all of us. This will be the last time we stay here.

Settled into the John Rich room on the first floor. I am a single traveler and the room has everything that I need with class and comfort- plush robes, snack basket, small TV, bed with a heating element, radiated heat, luxurious bedding and a place to hang my suit jacket/etc. Being a boutique inn, a main area is historic and inviting. There is a living area, a side seating area with fireplace, kitchen, several nooks with coffee/tea, many areas with snacks, cookies, cereal and granola bars. Plus the front porch that is cozy and has a view of the neighborhood. By the bed is a shelf with lotion, soaps and shampoos, but the best is a pillow spray that is subtle. This room is the perfect size for my travel needs and has a commode behind a privacy wall - towels, makeup towel and Sage/white tea spray in the cabinet above. A corner shower and wood/marble sink with wood mirror brings it all into the ambiance of the room. I sent videos to my family and they wish that they were with me. The mother-daughter duo service is much appreciated. The attention to good communication, there is great information on check in/stay and beyond. This is historical comfort with a taste of home.

I was born in the early eighties and missed growing up in the seventies, unfortunate? perhaps…read more There was one place though that transcended the changes in home furnishings and decor that progressed through the late seventies and into the early eighties. This place was my grandparents home. Built in the late seventies it kept the same tacky decor for much of my childhood, running up into the early nineties. Blue Shag rugs, crushed-gold velvet couches, gaudy fake chandeliers, fake wood paneling, oil canvases of mountain views, "cottage cheese ceilings". All of these were to be encountered in any trip to my grandparents humble abode. I missed it. And then recently I had to book a motel for two weeks in the Appleton, WI for a gig at the nearby paper mill in Kaukauna, WI. I called them up and received an agreeable weekly rate. After the end of my first shift I headed to my reserved room in the early morning hours. When I walked in I whisked away back to my childhood and visits to my grandparents home all over again. The brown shag rug, the fake wood paneling, the oil canvases of mountain views, huge glass ash trays, the smell of years of hard cigarette smoking absorbed into the once white now yellow curtains, a small chairs with ball casters in front of a tri-level desk\ dresser. It was all very reminiscent of my days of yore in the home of Octavio and Dorothy. A couple times I found myself swilling Schlitz or Blatz from a can just to give the added effect of the late seventies complete with Electric Light Orchestra playing from the mammoth alarm clock\ radio. Good times, indeed. The sanitary conditions of the hotel were acceptable, although the fact they could only clean my room between the hours I was sleeping during the day was somewhat bothersome, but no big deal. Fresh towels and wash cloths were constant. The women whom took my reservation was very helpful and courteous as well. She kept me on the weekly rate even though I had stayed over the two weeks. The conditions were decent as well having a laundry mat in house as well. I found their refrigerators to be quite lacking in size, honestly. But, then again it kept a twelve pack, sausages, and jarred-pickled beets and cabbage cool enough. Some of my fellow brothers in the trade stayed in the same motel during the job, but in the older side and they complained about much, but also said it had lower rates on than my room, but much smaller. I found the "Snugg" to be such a gas that I invited some fellow boilermakers over at the end of the job for some beers early in the morning, oddly they did not share my fondness of the decor, perhaps they didn't have enough LaCross Lager.

The desk clerk who I spoke to told me that they were booked up for the days that I wanted. First, they're fully-occupied. Then, they're closed down?! Okay! Since I cannot verify this, I gave them the benefit of the doubt by rating it with 3 stars.
