After the playground, we went to explore more of the park. It's not big but it is clean and beautiful. The views from the platform are pretty too. They have about 3 pavilions and also some exercise equipment along the walkway. We stayed about an hour and if we lived closer we would probably come more often. If we're ever in the area we will visit again.

The old nature trail in the Winston Park Nature Center was blocked off in 2018 because the decrepit boardwalk had become dangerous. Gone is the ratty old boardwalk and it was been replaced with a beautiful paved nature trail that connects the Hilton Road Greenway to the Winston Park Nature Center. The path goes through trees and along a canal filled with ducks and wading birds before exiting at the park. The trail is a fantastic improvement over what used to be here. Another upgrade to the park is a new NASA shuttle themed playground. Kids can pretend to be astronauts as they slide through the shuttle. The new playground is so cute and who knows, it just may inspire a kid to go to space. Other park amenities include a basketball court, pavilion, picnic area, racquetball court, tennis and volleyball courts, and a restroom. This park is so much better than the last time I was here. Well done Coconut Creek!

This is one of Coral Springs namesake parks. It was dedicated in 1996 to Richard D. Petrillo who…read morewas a resident of Coral Springs since 1978. He was president of Cue Homes which was one of the original builders for Coral Ridge Communities. He is considered instrumental to the early development of Coral Springs. Richard D. Petrillo Park is a strip of land sandwiched between Maplewood Elementary School and the Coral Springs Improvement District which is a water utility company. At first glance it is just a field with some lovely Royal Poinciana Trees. I saw some people using the area to run their dogs. If you go to the back of the park there is a hidden fence that surrounds a radio controlled car racetrack. Unless you went down this small road you wouldn't even know it was there and I was not aware that Coral Springs had a RC track. It looks very cool. According to the race track website the track is open for practice on Saturdays and race day is Sunday. In order to use the track you need a R.O.A.R membership card that includes insurance. Rules for using the track and an events calendar is located on the Coral Springs RC Race Track website. It looks like a fun activity for the Coral Springs community.

It is a nice park to come for a peaceful walk that will give you more of an incline workout than just a flat walk. Very beautiful and tranquil. It feels isolated even though it's in the middle of the city. There are waterways about and also places to sit. I am not sure if picnics are allowed, but it would be a really nice spot! From the side I came in from, there isn't very much parking, I am not sure if this is the only entrance or if there are others with more parking. Great park though.

Cooperative efforts between the Forman family, City of Parkland Mayor and City Commissioners, Broward County Board of County Commissioners, and Riverglades Elementary PTA have enabled this once endangered native land to be planned, restored, and opened to the public under the 1989 Environmentally Sensitive Lands (ESL) Bond Program. In order to further a common goal and protect this uniquely diverse 20-acre site for public enjoyment and education, Broward County voters, on March 14, 1989, approved a $75 million bond issue referendum to acquire this and several other sites across the county. In turn, to provide public access, site amenities were designed, including a 5' wide, 900' long pedestrian trail traveling through pine woods and a 1,550' boardwalk meandering through cypress wetlands and past a breathtaking oak hammock. Two seating and observation areas along with a pavilion area are located along the trail. The public is encouraged to view this wondrous natural resource, to absorb its beauty, and to learn the importance of its preservation for future generations' quality of life. This is a nice, quiet place to go for a short walk. I saw hardly any people. It was kind of attached to a school with a fence which I guess is nice but didn't want people to think I was creeping about so I stayed away from it. Lol. There is no official parking so you kind of have to park on the street. I wasn't towed so I guess it was ok. I would return.

The trail is nicely shaded and the path is wide and stable - might be a nice short running route. It links to some other local trails! The trail offers some side of the road parking, which seems to be underutilized. The park offers free bug spray at the entrance, which is spectacular because I can imagine it may get buggy in all that glorious shade. I love finding spaces like these, and look forward to coming back with the kids.

And you can't drive through the small park. Just walk. Dogs are allowed, but must be on a leash. It says "no climbing" on the bridge, but while we were there, we saw some kids fishing off the bridge. There are nice vibrant green grassy areas and tall trees for shade. We saw lots of birds on the grass while we there including a large group of white ones on the edge of the lake and in the lake. I hope the local residents take full advantage of this peaceful bit of greenery. I know I would, if I lived nearby.

It is considered a private park because…read moreit is owned and maintained by the Boca Del Mar HOA and they let you know it with multiple no trespassing signs. However no one bothered me while I was there and I was free to explore. The park is very beautiful with flowering trees set alongside a half mile long paved path that winds around a lake where there is a gazebo and benches. The trail also leads out to W Palmetto Road. The lake has a lot of ducks swimming around. I also saw iguanas and squirrels in the park. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit Parque Placido but this is a great amenity for the Boca Del Mar community to have as basically their backyard. It gives them a place to exercise, walk their dogs, and enjoy the outdoors.
