This cost her much pain and led her to cry and scream, which the staff dealt with in the most humane and compassionate manner. They spoke softly, encouragingly, and continue to let her know that they were doing the best they could to help her without causing her any pain. She is always clean, dressed and clean clothes, and in a good mood when I come to visit. The staff to patient ratio seems extremely high, and the executive director is very approachable. What is Simpson Place? It is an assisted living and skilled nursing community that offers care and support for low- and moderate-income senior adults. I assure you that this location looks & feels like an upscale hotel. You are greeted by friendly faces when you step in the door. The lobby is spacious and full of energy. The dining area is open, beautifully decorated, and clean. Even though I did not get to see the food, the menu offered healthy and alternative options. The community space had comfortable seating, by a bookcase and fireplace, very nice! The activities room was large and obviously used often. A resident said hello and expressed how much she enjoys living there (that was a huge plus!). As a resident, you get a 1 bedroom studio apartment. It's comforting to know that if skilled nursing is needed at some point, that service is available in the same building. I visited the rehab area and could see that the equipment was new, clean, the overall setup was impressive. What you really want to know is ... how much does it cost? Maybe nothing! Let Cory work with you and discover what you qualify for. In my case, I was thrilled to learn they accept Molina and Superior Star Plus waiver (Medicaid programs). You can certainly do private pay which is 3,000 a month. Either way, this includes the utilities, cable, wifi, housekeeping, daily activities, three meals a day plus 24\7 security. The words he used to describe this place was "unprecedented and incomparable". I actually laughed because i never knew a resident so appreciative and content about staying at one of these places. Because of the stigma that comes along with nursing homes he told me that he would never want to be at one but this one in particular he would hope to return if he needed to. I would highly recommend this place due to his experience. One of the only places I had to visit a resident and they were really happy. Our elders deserve this type of experience.

My loved one is in this facility and the Anderson building on the 2nd floor has no A/C. It is very stuffy and the rooms are VERY small, like the bed is literally at the door and feels like a rock, look like a bed for a toddler. The room is something out of the 60's decor, the owners ought to be ASHAME of themselves. The building is old and very outdated, why do we treat our Seniors this way? My brother WAS well and comfortable, but he has deteriorated after being abused and physically assaulted by a mentally ill roommate. The Facility lied to us about it. At 6 ft 2 in, my brother now weighs less than 130 pounds, and looks like he was just released from a Nazi concentration camp. The Director of Nursing looks me in the eye and declares he's fine.

The facility is clean, the food is satisfactory and adequate. Our family is grateful that our brother has a place there. He nearly lost his life due to careless medication management in a private assisted living facility in Hunt County where he stayed for 17 bleak months. That ended with an ambulance ride to the ER and 2 weeks in ICU due to bad medication management. In that process, our brother's cognitive faculties were so damaged that he qualified for Medicaid long term care. I'm sad about his medical status but the Meadows takes good care of him. I regret that Medicaid reimbursement rates are so stingy that life is not very diverting and interesting for Medicaid-dependent nursing home residents. Of course I have fears about the general trend in Medicaid reimbursement. But the Meadows does very well with the resources it has to work with. I'll pay special tribute to Mr.Bill, the loving heart and soul of the place! He's not in management nor is he a licensed professional therapist or anything, but he is all over that facility doing his best to ensure that spirits are high. He has been doing this for decades and I believe he truly is the house Angel.

Dee Dee is an aid in Schepps and she is an absolute angel. I wish I could remember everyone's names because they all deserve gold stars--Shonda and Olu were top notch. The facility is well cared for, some areas are newer than others. However, almost all the rooms are private, which you do not find very often. They allow you to bring in your own furniture and encourage you to treat the room like it's your own. You can add carpet and drapes if you want. And hang all the pictures you want on the walls! My grandmother loved making the room look like her home. The only downside is the inconsistency of the food. Sometimes it's great and sometimes its the same thing for a few meals in a row and it's not that tasty. My grandmother could not go down to the lunch room and had the meals delivered to her room. The food in the lunchrooms was a little better than that delivered. Breakfast was always good--they cooked her eggs to order. And with a facility this big, occasionally things came up missing. But that is true at any facility this large. When I brought it to the attention of the staff, they took it very seriously. Did I mention we were on Medicaid? Yeah, all the services at an expensive place and they take Medicare/Medicaid. If this is on your short list, and you can get in--do it.
