AKA Ralph Williamson Memorial Disc Golf Course (was renamed) Excellent course, a lot of fun. Low down is, there are lots of elevation shots, wooded areas but no tunnel shots, nice signage, clear paths, benches, and beautiful scenery. Not beginner friendly. Yes, can be cart friendly, but there are some places where you will be pulling up a steep incline. Now for the deets... You will need UDisc to navigate this course or play with a local. The signage at each tee is nice, but does not tell you which pin position the basket's in. Many of the baskets are not visible from the tee, so you end up guessing where to drive. It would be nice if the signage showed the pin position. On most baskets, there are directional arrows pointing you to the next tee. And on some of the signage, it also show what direction to take for the next tee. That said, on many tees, you could spend some time looking for them. Use UDisc. I played in a drizzle and hardly anyone was in the park, so I can't comment on safety or how busy the park is. However, the baskets are DGA Mach 5 baskets, so 24 strands of lighter heavy duty links. These baskets have no colored band and so are grey. In a grey, overcast Seattle drizzle. Good thing it isn't very overcast here many days. [sarc] Therefore, it is difficult to see the basket. Pink, red streamers hanging from the basket would help immensely. On a few baskets, putting a fiberglass pole with a red triangle flag would be helpful as you cannot see the basket at all from the tee due to elevation, or a hill in the way. This is not for beginners, at least if they do not want to become frustrated. It seemed like most of the throws are long due to the elevations. For example, #9 is "only" 251' but you are driving up a 40'-50' hill. Many throws are like that. There are a couple, like #10, I think, that throws you off because even though there was only slight wind, there are clearings in through some trees where you have a head wind, and of course, sends your disc upward. This happened twice. This is a very clean park. There was no trash of any kind that I saw. A very pleasant outing in a picturesque park setting. There is a playground with minimal playground equipment. There is also a neat bike/tricycle track for little kids at the park. Brick restrooms are open in the spring and summer, port-a-potties otherwise. Benches behind most of the tees. I would give 5 stars if they would improve visibility of the baskets and indicate pin positions. There is supposed to be a pro shop on site, but I have no clue where that is. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Sometimes you just need to touch grass. As a disc golfer, I like other courses but needed something a little less technical than Sea-Tac. Insert Lakewood Park, or the Ralph Williamson Memorial Disc Golf Course. There is a pro shop on sight at the 1st and 6th tee pads. They also answer questions and hold lost and recovered discs as well. They have a selection of discs but inventory has been down over the summer on Innova. They did just get in some new bags. The pin position changes like any other golf course but generally are in the same spot. This is my preferred course as it is less challenging than pro SeaTac read more

My first time playing this course and it was a fun experience. There are 20 holes (no idea why, but why not?). Most are fairly short but some are a bit challenging (decide for yourself if you want to play or skip hole 1). The course is nicely tucked into what looks like a very nice park. read more

I would take a star away just for the first hole being a shot over a pond, but that's just me being a poor sport. I skipped it, but it's a great indicator of how fun this course is! The course is pretty big; 20 holes and we spent probably 2.5 hours navigating the course. There is even a bathroom by the park although it had no doors ... (reminded me of public bathrooms in other countries) but a bathroom none the less so I appreciated it! There are a lot of shrubs and trees but this course wasn't too bad and it's easy to spot discs in the bushes, however they're mainly thorn bushes so be ready to dive in or lose some discs. The signs definitely need to be updated, some are missing or scratched off but you can make out where the course winds around fairly easily. There were a few large groups which let us pass them and a quicker duo passed us but we were able to keep our steady pace and have a lot of fun on a Saturday! read more

Stopped by here during a 10-day North-West disc golf tour. This was a really fun course with a good mix of medium/hard shots. Signage wasn't great, but we managed to find our way through the whole course without any help. The onsite store is also pretty great, they give $2 per each lost disc you find and return. I found 2 while playing. The scenery was interesting because it was all dried out. As a first time visiter to Seattle, I was expecting everything to be nice and green like people tell you, but it's a dry season. Overall this was a really fun course to start our day with. read more

This is a great disc golf course with nice variety. As mentioned in other reviews, it can be a bit tricky to navigate the 20 holes, so be sure to look up the map in advance. The on site store is great, and there's a playground for kiddos too! The first hole has a stretch over a pond with some trees and shrubs along the shoreline so make sure you've got extra discs or go up the trail a few paces to get to the drop zone. read more

Im new to the sport of disc golf and have played three courses yer to date. Moses lake, Cle Elum and here. This is by far the best of the three. Having the pro shop on site for questions and trying new discs is a large plus. I played with my wife seven year old son and toted my 3month old son with us and had a great time. Everyone we ran into on the course was very friendly. The field is very well maintained and they have a good kids park as well. Just playing on the two sets of practice baskets to warm up for the actual game is a great time. This course has definitely made this a family bonding sport for my family. Finding things you can do as a family is one of the most important thing's in life in my opinion. I'm sure this is a good sport to just get away from the family from time to time as well to just breath and take in the beauty of nature. read more

Nice disc golf course, well-maintained.

Excellent, excellent course for beginners, but still very enjoyable for players of all skill levels. Single tee locations, but baskets are moved every month or so to alternate locations. Lakewood and SeaTac have both been taken over by the ChainBangers Disc Golf Club. Keith and his crew do a lot of good work, which makes me proud to be part of the community. One of the better disc golf courses around Seattle. some challenging holes, but for the most part pretty easy course lay-out. For a bit more of a challenge you can head over to the Sea-Tac course which has much more distance per hole, and a much more difficult lay-out. Lakewood can get crowded on the sunny weekends but not too bad, you might have to wait for a hole to clear before you throw but I have never had to wait to start or even that long for people to clear a hole. I like the new signage they have put up here, a little more clearly defined where the holes are and new Red stickers on each pin to help you find them. It seem like a lot of the extra baskets were also removed which is nice. read more

Husband and I were looking for a place to partake in some disc golfing adventures with our doggo and came upon this one. It didn't have any fees which some places did and we weren't about that life. This park was pretty nice though, the grass was mowed and it wasn't crowded at all. We had to look online to actually tell where the holes were because it is not well marked. I guess there is a map at the front of the park but we didn't see it. Some of the holes are more challenging than others but it was not bad. I am not sure if we would drive the 30 minutes to go there again but if we were closer I think we would go again. Along with the disc golf there was a large pond and several picnic tables for lunch so you can take the kids and pets and have a nice time at the park! read more

I'm kind of an Intermediate player and my buddy and I found this course using Yelp and were not disappointed in the least. This is the best course I've ever played (just moved to Seattle for some temp work a couple of months ago, and haven't had the occasion to play up here yet). Almost every tee is concreted with non-slip roughing on the concrete top. I think there are only two tee offs that don't have this concrete pad. The baskets are all numbered (18 holes, yo!) and there's even a pro shop operated by the local disc golf club right off the 1st & 6th tees. My buddy lost 2 discs (water hazard on the first and waaay up a tree on the second). They were MY discs that he was borrowing, so we're going to the store to replace them today, and for my buddy to get his own drivers and putter, then back to Lakewood Park for another round of 18! read more

Fun course! Got lost on a couple of holes, wish the signage was better but had a blast.

Big clean open course with bathrooms (no doors though.. which is weird) and water obstacles.

New layout as of today. See photo. Course got easier for me, but I think beginners will have trouble getting over 2 new water hazard shots. Be on the lookout for slight tweaks in the months to come (even some major relocations), and try to be nice and help people out who are lost-- bound to happen considering the drastic change. Be sure to visit the "pro shop" operated by Chainbangerz near hole 1/6 tee pads. Buy discs, gear, soda and bottled water. The operator of this shop is also responsible for a lot of the improvements and maintenance that goes on at this park- so support him! read more

Fun course for beginners and experienced players. I'd give it 5 stars, but there are no maps or directions at the Tee's! Luckily, you can buy a map for $1 at the shop-so bring $1 cash! I only had cards, and that cost more for them, so I didn't even try. Other than that, though, solid course :) read more

Well don't know if it is my favorite course in the Puget area, but it is beautiful. It is for the most part wide open. Sure it's friendly, are there unfriendly disc golfers? I don't know as I have met any, and I play alot. I cannot imagine the need to play alternate tees like that dude mentioned. Lakewood is enough of a hike as is. As was said, since it is wide open if you want variety approach the hole differently. I almost got my second ace on this course so perhaps one of the reasons its dear and near. A really good disc golf course in the White Center. Not my favorite course in the greater Puget Sound area, but if I need a desperate fix to play gof and I don't want to drive to the best disc golf course in the state, Ft. Steilacoom, then this is a good choice. Also good for players who have little or no experience as the course is fairly wide open and most people should rarely lose their discs on this course. read more

This has been my home course since I moved to W Sea in 2007. Grass fairways lined with trees give this course the feel of a ball golf course. Nice mix of short and long shots. Despite being relatively open, the layout still requires a multitude of technical shots. A pro-shop (Chainbangerz satellite store) was added this year along with new tee-pads, benches and a practice putting area to make this one of Seattle's premiere disc golf destinations. read more

This course is fun and fairly difficult skill level. However this course is almost impossible to navigate unless guided by a regular.

Not a bad course. I'm used to a small (yet extremely nice) 9-hole course at Luther College in Decorah, IA. My major problem with the course is that there are a few holes that are not marked very well. Some of my time was spent trying to find the hole before teeing off. Beyond that, I find the course to be semi-challenging, with one hole being up a steep incline! read more
