This was a great find! This place completely changed my mind about the Sonoran dog. Service was friendly and helpful from start to finish. The staff took the time to go over the menu, and after we ordered and sat down, they brought our food promptly and even checked in on us -- a really nice touch. We tried the Sonora and Vaquero Chile dogs, plus the Asada fries. Everything was absolutely delicious and super filling. I've never been a big fan of hot dogs, but this spot truly won me over -- they're doing something special here. It's a food truck, so there's plenty of seating and even some small vendor booths to browse while you wait. After driving for hours and arriving late we had few options for food. While a hit tricky to find this food truck was Ike a hot dog oasis in the desert. They were closing in 20 mins but don't hurry us at all. They were helpful with suggestions and explanations of the menu. I got the dozer dog and my partner got the dogzilla. It was like heaven after such a long day. Mine was super spicy and tasty. I loved it. It was chilly and they turned on the heater for us which was very appreciated. Then they gave us some dessert! Today, we stopped at Lalo's Sonora Style Dogs for lunch. Yes, it was hot, but they do have umbrella covered tables. My wife had the mushroom dog with cheese and I had the Sonoran dog (beans, cheese, raw and grilled onions, tomatoes and green sauce). We shared an order of fresh cut fries. Everything was delicious. Update Jan 2024, 5 months after original review, 3rd visit. Down graded for a few things. 1) Ordered green chile on our dogs, and got red tomato salsa. 2) Previously, the buns were warmed up on the grill, this time, they were not. They were a bit stale, cold, and crumbly. 3) Supposed to be bacon wrapped, they were not. No bacon. The dog was just so-so, fell apart in my hand. Not sure if the regular asada fries come with anything, like green chile, or cilantro (they didn't), but they didn't have much cheese either. But, on the bright side, in today's day and age, their prices are competitive. We will definitely try again at a later time, but we're going to give them a chance to iron out whatever the heck is going on right now. Maybe by the end of the year? read more

Passing through Las Cruces and looking for vegetarian options I saw Lalo's reviews on Yelp! and thought it was worth a try. WOW! was it ever. So good! It's a colorfully painted food trailer in a fenced in lot with a few folding tables and chairs. I had the Sonoran doggo and my son had the vegan. We added a side of fries with cheese and green chiles. And a veggie caramelos (it's like a quesadilla). It was all amazingly good. Everything was fresh and prepared while we waited. The crew was friendly and helpful. They explained the menu to us and helped us order. Lucky locals can try everything on the menu. That's what I'd do if I lived here. How about you? read more

Found these folks about a month ago and it's already become a regular for us - once or twice a week. We had never had Sonora style hot dogs before - and we love them. Everything is very fresh, prepared the day of. The owners are two brothers who have put everything into making this their dream. Every dog we've tried is amazing ( I'm a big fan of the dogzilla) and the carne asada fries are delicious. They also make their own agua frescas. Everyone should go Thai is a hot dog stand - the tables are in the lot. They have plans to pave and set up a number of food carts for elites, tacos etc. read more

I found this truck inside the street parallel to Solano. A might hard to find but well worth it. Service was outstanding by the gentleman prepping orders. But then he comes around the truck and hand delivers and thanks you each order. The food is fantastic. I ordered the Sonoran dog and it is the best I have ever had. A five star dining experience? Come on folks, let's get real! Dear readers, do you actually think you can trust all this five star nonsense on Yelp? Of course you don't. Read on for the real situation. I stopped in at Lalo's Sonora Style Dogs seeing as it had all these rave reviews posted on Yelp. Although the address is listed on Solano the entrance is on the street behind (Nevarez). You enter into a gravel parking lot where there is a little food truck and about five picnic table sized metal tables with around twelve chairs. I found the gentleman running the place pleasant and helpful. I ordered a Sonora Dog and an Alambre Burrito with a can of Coke. Total price about $11.75...pretty reasonable. The food was grilled on the spot while I waited at a table. It took about 8 or 9 minutes. The hotdog itself was a little on the smallish side and nothing to speak of regarding flavor. Not much snap...simply a so-so dog. The over-sized bun was fresh and had a nice flavor. This is a good bun which holds all the fixins pretty well. On top of the dog were some brown beans, chopped raw onions, grilled onions, chopped tomato, a bit of cilantro, mayo and lettuce. The mayo and tomato were chilled. Some of the onion and tomato fell out of the bun while consuming the dog as they were piled high over the hotdog. I could not eat them as I was provided with no fork. In the little food tray there was also a slightly grilled jalapeno. Flavor was good and the heat mild. Overall evaluation: an interesting and decent hotdog but nothing too special. The Alambre Burrito was medium-sized. It was wrapped in foil. It was filled with chunks of carne asada, grilled onions, and sliced red peppers. It had a nice flavor to it and a bit of heat. It came with a spicy green salsa on the side. This was a better than average burrito. Again, I thought it had a nice seasoning to it. Nothing to rave about but pretty good. Final analysis: Rate the food overall about THREE-AND-THREE-QUARTERS STARS (meaning above average to good) and the dining experience overall about a three. Take that to the bank and forget the five star Yelp nonsense. read more
