I've never eaten at the Dog House side of Andele's before and it was cute. We're having monsoon weather, so the courtyard was closed, but the back room was almost as good as the courtyard for beautiful murals and feeling like being somewhere tropical. I got the #3 combo plate and I have enough food for another lunch tomorrow! Yay! I did the green enchiladas, beef flauta, green chili con carne, and a tamale. I'm so stuffed! When in New Mexico, be sure to try their iconic chile, a staple of local cuisine, in red or roasted green salsa. We enjoyed our dining experience at 'Andele's Dog House' in Las Cruces and ordered the 'Christmas Enchiladas,' with chicken in spicy green creamy salsa, and spicy red enchiladas with pork. These enchiladas were truly exceptional, deserving of a 5/5 star rating!! We also enjoyed their complementary chips and salsa bar. The service was great and everyone was very friendly. The weather was 100 degrees in New Mexico so sitting outdoors would've been more pleasant if there were more fans plus the heat attracted a bunch of flies. The locals don't appeared bothered by all this, but coming from San Diego with 70 degree weather, I was dying but the food was so worth coming back for!! A must-try when in the area!! First time in New Mexico and couldn't miss indulging in southwestern cuisine. Andele's dog house is very casual and affordable with a nice dog-friendly patio. Indoor space is quite small. Service is fast and friendly. My girlfriend and I ordered beers, the chile con queso, and two combination plates (one green one red). My favorite item was the chile con queso, served with warm tortillas. Grabbed some pico de gallo from the salsa bar to top the queso with and it was fabulous. Combo plates were good and hearty. I'd recommend the red one over the green - the pork tamale was the best item, followed by the enchilada. I didn't care for the flauta, which felt overcooked and dry. Probably the best street tacos I have ever had in my life! The beef was spiced perfectly and had the perfect chew. Get the tacos al carbon, you will not be disappointed! Just a good rule of thumb, if it's highlighted as a house specialty and take up a third of one the folds in a menu...it's probably pretty special...and IT IS HERE! Also ordered the tacos. Meet had ok flavor but along with the onions, both were cold and not enjoyable. Ended up taking it all home, except the first taco i put together. Salsas had good flavor and spice, but the salsa bar was filthy. Wanted to go to the main restaurant, but they are closed on Mondays for maintenance. Tried the dawg house and will not be going back. You gotta come here to believe this. This is Andele's Dog House? Thinking it had something to do with hot dogs. Not a chance. This is the ultimate in dog friendly New Mex -Mexican food. We're both indoor and outdoor seating, you have to be out of your mind not to sit out door next to the fireplace. This is New Mexico in the winter at its best. So on this trip, I was after the ultimate chili relleno. They are excellent here. I'm a Pan Fried guy. None of that baked in the oven nonsense. Of course you can get them covered in red sauce or green sauce, but the queso sauce here is really great. Sopapillas here are also simply outstanding for dessert. Go for the plain. The tacos al carbon was our favorite with the flavorful slightly charred pork. It was flavorful and delicious. The salsa bar was also great especially when you combine the pico with the classic salsa. They actually provide complimentary chips! The horchata was delicious with a nice touch of cinnamon. We've missed spicy New Mexican style food since we've moved to Tucson. Andele's was an excellent choice for reviving that taste memory. Their salsa bar is a treat, but be warned the mildest of the 5 choices is the pico de gallo. Arbol is very spicy and tasted like 100% chile! The service was friendly and quick. Mediocre! Fish Taco's very dry and tasteless. Cold Slaw covered in some pepper but not pleasing. No salsa included. I understand most of the Mexican food here is Tex/Mex but no imagination. Each state in Mexico has a different take on cuisine. Las Cruces and Mesilla could sure use some help. Fusion brings a lot to specific ethnic foods. Yes it is affordable but come on, these are not expensive ingredients. The only good thing was the black bean, corn combo. Even that could have used a bit of 'wow.' Yes, I've lived in some of the foodie capitals of the US. That is true. It doesn't prevent local cooks from experimenting and diversiving. Most of this tastes like cowboy trail food. read more

This place was recommended to us, so we ordered a chicken salad, but unfortunately, the experience wasn't the best. The chicken was tough and tasted like it may have been old. So she decided to keep eating, but when she got to the bottom of the salad, she found a bug in the lettuce likely from the iceberg lettuce not being washed thoroughly. Personally, I don't care for iceberg lettuce, but I wouldn't have minded as much if it had at least been fresh and properly cleaned. I ordered the chili we ain't no plate and our food came in less than five minutes cause we ordered to go and when it came in less than five minutes, we both were like that fast. I knew that we was gonna have some old food and my children was tough and old. It wasn't fresh. It wasn't warm. The rice was old. It wasn't fresh food. We came on a bad day we ordered to go and I don't know I still think in California probably have the best Mexican food, but I'm not gonna go here again. I didn't like it. On the positive side, the service was very nice and the staff was friendly, which I appreciated. However, the food quality was disappointing, and finding a bug in my salad really made things worse. We got into Las Cruces too late to eat at the Andele flagship restaurant, but the Dog House wasn't disappointing at all! A lot of people seemed to be waiting to be seated at the porch area but the wait was only five minutes for my cousin and I. Walking inside, all tables were full and and there was much lively chatter for a Monday evening. My go-to at any Mexican spot is a wet burrito, but the burritos here apparently don't come with any filling extras like lettuce, beans, etc. (i.e., the carne adovada burrito would just be meat in sauce inside a tortilla), so I decided to stray from the usual plan and go for the carne adovada plate instead. My cousin and I both appreciated the self-serve unlimited chips and salsa bar greatly, my favorite salsa was the traditional followed by the chipotle. I am usually a fan of chile de arbol salsa the way they make it in Northern California but the one here was actually spicy and not anything like what I am used to, and the chile verde was quite unique as well. Service was quick and friendly, the food took maybe a bit longer than what I would usually expect at a Mexican restaurant but waiting is no issue if you decide to go for chips and salsa. The ladies restroom was well-maintained. Upon receiving my carne adovada plate, I was not a fan of the carne adovada itself. I was expecting something like carnitas based on the description, but just so the non-locals are aware the carne adovada is smoky and dry so not running with juices at all. I believe it's more of an acquired taste, so I ended up swapping plates with my cousin who got the number 3 plate. I opted for the baked potato instead of rice and beans, and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavor of that. I'm really glad we decided to stop here instead of at fast food. read more

This week I went with a friend of mine to dinner at Andale's Dog House. Our choice to go there was because the food has been good and their prices are reasonable. We were seated on the room next to the patio. My friend told the server that we were not in a hurry, we ordered a couple of beers and from their tortilla chips and salsa bar we got some to munch as an appetizer. Nevertheless she ended pushing us to order our food right away. My friend ordered a Plate of Pork Tacos al Carbon. I didn't want Mexican food so I ordered the Fish Fillet Platter. The presentation was great. Breaded fish served with tasty coleslaw, French fries and roasted corn and red peppers medley. The fillet of fish was over fried and dry, the French fries soggy. I do not recommend the fish platter. The area where we were seated was stuffy and hot. The server Ayleen came over an excessive amount of times to ask us if everything was okay interrupting our conversation and / or asking when we had food in our mouth. When she finally brought us the checks she never cleared the table, which for me who worked as a server many years ago, it is a 101 server basic task. We had to push our plates so we could sign the credit card vouchers. Do not order more than one beer. If you need to go to the bathroom, you better plan your trip as they are only for one person at a time. If the place is busy, you will be waiting on line to relieve yourself. read more

Stopped in for lunch on our drive back to Arizona. Glad we stumbled upon this cool place. No wait even though it was packed as they had ample seating. Local favorite spot. First let me say that the service was fine at the main Andele's at my birthday dinner earlier this afternoon. It wasn't busy at the time - no fault to the server. The food was another matter! In the OK department were the guacamole and sweet tea. However the guac came with largely crumb chips. Bottom of the bag? The rest not so! I ordered the combination #1 which had apparently detoured through the Great Salt Lake where it was detained on its way to my table. The relleno was pure mush, also salty. The con carne was far too heavy on potatoes, also salty. I left more than 2/3 of my meal uneaten. Since asked here to also consider ambiance, I have to say what ambiance? Nothing has changed here in years. Boring! The complaints were brought to the server's attention, but what could she do? And nothing was done. Although this is a popular place, I don't know why. They offer many of the items at the that locals enjoy at Andales restaurant in Mesilla NM It's conveniently located near a main drag in Las Cruces, NM. Like many people, I discovered this place while staying in Las Cruces on my way to Tucson. It was recommended by a local. It's also about expectations. Everyone is understaffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. The parking can be difficult, because it's a good restaurant so it gets busy. The restaurant was clean as well as the bathroom.  There's a patio area, but a lot of it's covered. The service was fast and efficient, and they had my to go order ready quickly. It is a Southwest Mex Street Tacos style place. Including Mexican Sonoran style hot dogs and hamburgers as well. This is not a mall based mexican chain restaurant or a high-end Latin style bistro somewhere.  The food was good and solid, hot and delicious.I've had enchiladas, burritos, and tacos, especially enjoyed the green salsa.  I've been several times and I'm sure I'll go several more.... I usually stop going back and forth between the West and my home. read more

The food and service here was amazing! Natalie- our waitress was so helpful. One person in our party was looking for gluten free options- they had a whole menu! He was so pleased at the selection. Natalie even found a gluten free beer for him. He ended up having green enchiladas with beans and rice and ordered a combination plate to go! We had a great time on the patio with a nice fire in the fire-pit in the middle once dusk was upon us. There were several patrons that brought their dogs to sit on the patio to eat with them. like many of the reviews, stopped by Andele's while on a road trip. The reviews raved about the enchiladas so my companions wanted to stop and try some authentic new mexican food. although there were 5 of us and no table that technically could seat all of us next to a heater, the waitress and hostess were able to find a smaller table and add chairs so we could be warm and together. the patio is also not a true outdoor space because much of it is partially covered, which is nice in the winters. the allowance of dogs at this one was also a fun addition. the unlimited chips and salsa was great and the chips were so crispy. no true mild salsa except the pico de gallo which is harder for those less spice inclined, but I personally loved trying all of the different salsa. the spiciest one was a dry heat that lingered so be warned. our food came out quickly. I got the tacos al carbon - beef, while others in the group got combinations 1 and 3. getting to assemble my own tacos was a blast and I loved the bean soup (?) addition to it, but the beef was crispy and overcooked. maybe that's the expected result of it being cooked on coal? I tried a bit of everything of the combination platters and thought the chile relleno was excellent. the texture was done perfectly with the fried exterior and soft interior. overall, excellent roadtrip stop for some hearty and yummy food. if you manage to finish a plate, you will definitely be full for the rest of the night. read more

I had a lot of issues with the main restaurant across the street so I started dining here instead because it's a different vibe, different staff, and a slightly different menu. However, I think I'm done dining at the Andele restaurants for good. I was here on Thursday and I normally order the same food I used to get at the main restaurant but this time I decided to try something exclusive that was offered here so I got the Dog House Treats and the Queso Burger with fries. The treats were not good. They consisted of two chicken tenders, four mini burritos, four onion rings, four mushrooms, two mozzarella sticks, and four zucchini strips. The chicken tenders were really rubbery. Two of the mini burritos didn't have any filling and were just tortilla. Two of the onion rings were the small center pieces. The mushrooms were really tiny. The cheese in the mozzarella sticks wasn't melted. The zucchini strips were mostly mashed up paste. Everything was deep fried to the same dark brownish orange color so I'm assuming the staff tossed everything into the same batch. The burger was ok but it had a little too much queso. I needed a lot of napkins because this was a very messy burger. The fries were soggy like they were cooked and then sat somewhere for a while. The reason I'm putting this review at 1 star is because I'm pretty sure I got food poisoning after eating the food. I had stomach cramps, muscle aches, felt constantly dizzy, and had intestinal distress all night and throughout the following day. I couldn't eat solid food and had to rely on liquids. I felt better on Saturday but it was a rough couple of days. I'm avoiding this place from now on. read more

Been to NM a handful of times and I'm not sure how I ever missed stopping here! This will be a FAV spot to visit from here on out! Service is super friendly and competent. Restaurant is very comfortable and clean. There's seating inside and out. Their outdoor patio area is great! Heaters for chilly days/nights. Food was amazing! They have "help yourself" warm tortilla chips and salsa bar! I ordered their red chili posole and it was perfectly flavorful and spicy! Hubby ordered a green chile omelette and he loved it!
