Lamar's has been around for decades. I was in the area and thought these would be a good treat to drop off to an office I have recently partnered with. There is plenty of parking, and I scored a spot right in front (this was around 10:30 am on a Friday). The staff was friendly and greeted with a hello as soon as I walked in. I understand supporting a local business (obviously), but almost $30 for an assorted dozen was out of my price range. Didn't want to leave empty handed so decided on a medium iced chai latte, and apple fritter. This was ~$13. My drink was made with syrup and sadly, unable to be consumed because it was too sweet. I spit out my first sip and could barely drink the rest. Maybe their coffee is better? The fritter was...a fritter. It tasted similar to the .89 ones we usually get from the grocery store. I would visit Lamar's again, but try other items and definitely pass on the iced chai latte. read more

I'm going to start this by saying I won't assume intent - but I will encourage anyone who has paid by card here to check their bank statement. I didn't keep my receipt but was certain my approved amount was $24 (dozen classic donuts with holes) and a small coffee. I thought it was steep but LaMar's is known to be pricey; however my bank account showed $44 was pulled the next day. I called the location and customer service after hours and left a voicemail before calling my bank to dispute. My bank confirmed the approved amount was only $24. To their credit, LaMar's did call the next business day and offered to make it right but my bank already had. Aside from this, I have had the feeling on this visit and two others that LaMar's is skating by on name alone at this point. While their recipe for a classic donut is near perfect, the prices, lack of updated creamer choices for coffee, and - at least at this particular location - a habit of running low on inventory make this a lackluster experience at best. While they say they open at 4AM 6 days a week and 5AM on Sunday I've been greeted after 7AM three times on the weekend with "unfortunately we don't have any donuts." Good service but only "fair" donuts, Lamar's is fortunate to have neither Dunkin' Donuts nor Krispy Kreme in the vicinity. I don't feel that the donuts are of good or better quality, but they were a mix of fried ones (like KK) and cake ones (like DD) with assorted sugary toppings. I did enjoy my peanut donut and the client liked the ones that they had. I got a dozen donuts to bring to my client's office and was surprised to see that there were only eleven in the box. I had told the girl to mix them up, but I guess the "invisible" one was somehow included. :-( Is $8.99 for a dozen expensive? The Associates that are normally working are awesome, today we went in and and older lady was working I'm assuming was the manager was really rude, when asked how she was doing she replied "I'm stressed out and you guys aren't communicating very well". Quick. Fresh. Delicious on the corner of Parker rd and Iliff with lots of parking lot parking to pull in and pull out for a quick pick up. They are also next to an exotic bird store and hookah lounge. So many options for donuts and so MELT in your mouth delicious! We went in on a Wednesday afternoon after 3p for an afternoon snack We picked up some CHOCOLATE donut HOLES and bear claws for tomorrow's breakfast. Pay attention to what the employees are touching before they touch your donuts. They wear gloves, but they keep wearing the same gloves that they handled the previous customers' debit card or cash. They should be using new gloves for each customer or split the responsibility between somebody handling the donuts and somebody handling the payments. This is the second time I've seen this at this location and I will not go back. I cannot recommend this place to anyone right now - regardless if the donuts are good. This is unacceptable. read more

A friend of mine picked up doughnuts from here a couple weeks ago just before Christmas and am only just now coming for a review. It's been a busy holiday season. The doughnuts I received were stale and old. They looked like they were sitting out for a day or longer. I don't eat doughnuts often so I assumed LaMar's, with their extensive service history of the Denver area, would provide some amazing doughnuts. But they were hard and disgusting! I tried a little piece of each of the medley box to make sure it wasn't just one bad doughnut. There was a chocolate glaze, regular glaze, Apple fritter and some cream stuffed ones. Each one was disgusting. I threw them straight out. I haven't had the pleasure of walking into the establishment in person, but the recent reviews about customer service experience are very disappointing. read more

The bf loves donuts. I'd call it a donut problem, but he claims it's a hobby--he's a "donut enthusiast." And before we visited his family in CO, he told me tales of Lamar's donuts. So I headed out one morning and walked to Lamar's for breakfast. We'd tried to go the day before, but they closed early when they sold out of donuts--now THAT piqued my interest. My allergies were raging, so my eyes were bloodshot to the point of not having any white left. I hadn't showered yet, so my blue and black hair was raggedy. I'd just pulled on a hoodie and left the house. I think I made the staff (and that nice lady behind me) nervous. I doubt anyone believed that my 6 donuts were for anyone but myself. (But really, I only ate one!) These donuts are HUGE. The fillings were pretty tasty (okay, i did take a bite of the filled one). We cut them in half and shared. I went to the Lamar's this morning located at 1001 E Iliff Ave in Aurora this morning at 6:30 am and though the woman that took my order was cordial and accommodating to me, she was extremely rude to her coworker. I got the impression that she was possibly a manager and that he was new to the job. She barked orders at him and commented on his "not moving fast enough" which made him even more nervous. I was embarrassed for him and hope this is not normal behavior for her. read more

Wow, these guys open up at 4am. If you place an order for morning pickup, you can pretty much have the freshest doughnuts you've sunken your frosting covered fingers into. We bought 5 dozen doughnut holes for my daughter's class treat. Paid for them the night before, and picked them up at 5am. My daughter probably wouldn't have noticed the difference between that days product and the ones from the following morning, but the woman at the counter informed me that they were giving everything to the shelter. I looked her in the eye and said, "No offense to your doughnuts from today, but if you're giving these to the shelter tonight, I'm not buying a damned thing. You'll have a customer forever, but I'm not buying any tonight." What a great part of the local community. They bring life to early risers, smiles to little kids in the morning, forced groans that attempt to cover the happiness of your coworkers when the say they don't need one but they'll take it anyway, and then still bringing more smiles when they give hungry people in need a few bites of soul nourishing, sweetness that they might otherwise not eat at all. LaMar's is a pretty sweet place all around. It's not fancy like Voodoo or something, but it's definitely all the doughnut shop you need, and it's right around the corner. read more
