I tried LaMar's today, and their donuts are absolutely scrumptious! I highly recommend this place!

Wish there were more of these franchises around. The donuts are very good. Much better than crispy creme. They have many limited offerings to give an additional variety to the already wide selection. I do NOT recommend getting any of the specialty coffee drinks. They just plain don't know how to make them. Still not the best I've had, but still pretty darn good. read more

I was very disappointed.... called ahead to ask if the doughnuts were fresh for the day. I was told yes so my husband drove 30 minutes to Lamars to get them and he came home to enjoy. However the doughnuts were at least 2 days old. The chocolate just fell off in chunks, the doughnuts were stale and hard. I was extremely disappointed and frustrated. The establishment had ample parking in a shared plaza parking lot. I received quick and friendly service for a small order of 2 donuts( snickers and Bavarian cream) and a mango smoothie. We ate outside where they have 3 tables and it was pleasant. The snickers donut was tasty but a little dry for being a yeast donut and my Alex reports that he "enjoyed it well enough" though noted that the mango smoothie was on the extra sweet side. read more

Lamars was not too bad. The filled donuts are the way to go. The Bavarian was great. My old fashioned glazed was not bad either. Very large donuts for the price. This week, we have been on a "donut" kick. Out of the places we've sampled, this is number two. "The Donut House" edges it out... but just by a nose. read more

I've tried Lamar's Donuts on a few occasions: my first time at my college campus when my classmate brought a whole box with his girlfriend, because it was supposed to get us excited on taking that big test that morning. Totally helped. Thought the doughnuts were nicely decorated, the whipped cream was plum and creamy. The assortment was not boring like DD's or the King Soopers brand. It was also not overly tacky and overpriced like Voodoo's. (Don't kill me, I still am a fan of Voodoo's.) But the second time around, it was when my friend thought we could wake up to some fresh, basic chocolate flavored doughnuts. He had come to this location various times, and took me here. The whole bakery smelled soooo good. Like warm dough. It is opened incredibly early like most early birds desire. This is the closest location I could find, unless DIA is willing to open up another neighborhood kind. Some of my favorite ones I've spotted were the classic glazed, sprinkled, long johns and swirls. My fave!! They have really good customer service. Cheery, heartwarming smiles. Obviously no misery is allowed here. The place is packed. Come here and try the product if you have not yet. read more

We love Lamar's! The glazed lemon Bismark is my favorite and if they don't have them in the case they will go back and fill one for me. They have great maple icing so I usually get at least one item with maple. The Ray's glazed original is a pillowy raised donut with just the right amount of glaze. And of course we also get a scrumptious chocolate Lamar's bar with Bavarian filing. read more

LaMar's is definitely one of the better places to get donuts in Colorado. They're definitely superior to grocery store quality donuts and you don't have to wait in line for an hour to order (I'm talking about you, VooDoo). Now, are they gourmet donuts? No. Are they priced like gourmet donuts? No. Are they ridiculous concoctions like VooDoo? No. LaMar's simply offers good ol'fashioned donuts done right. Best donut shop in aurora, Colorado! I live in Aurora and Colorado Springs and the best in the springs is Amy's DoNuts (best in the state actually) and my second favorite is Lamar's right on Iliff! I am so shocked this place doesn't have more than 4 stars! Don't let the stars fool you, this place is AMAZING!! And they sell out early so get there quick !!! Awesome doughnuts and excellent service! Ask for Brian he knows the best selection to go with any weather, mood, or coffee selection. Never knew there was so much art to the creation of their doughnut! Ask for the magical story of the chocolate glazed. Wide selection of classic doughnuts. Haven't had a dry one, but maybe if you wait until the afternoon it may be getting dry because they use no chemicals or preservatives unlike some of the bigger chains. Only downside is they keep running out of doughnuts early. So get there early or ask for the manager to have the kitchen make some more for us late risers! read more

Walking in for the first time in five years, I was greeted with a smile and a great attitude from your store Manager, Marquis. He helped me get my donuts without feeling rushed, and even recommended some donuts I should try. LaMar's donuts has been a Denver institution for years and there's a good reason the business is still around. They have great donuts! I went in on a busy Saturday morning when I happened to be in the area. The service was quick, very friendly and knowledgeable. Mostly families come in to order a dozen donuts. The prices are very affordable and reasonable. I just got a couple donuts - a chocolate glaze and Apple fritter. The donuts are petty large. Much bigger than anything you'll get at D&D. Very nice and friendly people, it's not the biggest selection that I have seen but it is really good and the quality is pretty awesome. I'm happy with what I got. I love this place! I've been here many times before at any time of day and it's delish! I love their coffee, it has a different flavor than any coffee places I've been to, but is so yummy. I think it's the cream that's different but who knows. Until today my favorite was their giant apple fritters! Today, since there were no apple fritters left by the time I got there, I tried something different. They have these doughnuts called buttermilk bars that are either glazed or covered in powdered sugar with chocolate drizzle over it. I tried the powdered sugar one, and OMG it's sooooo good! My new favorite by far! The customer service is always wonderful. Sure when it's a long line it may take a little longer since they only have one credit card machine, but obvi it's worth it. The best doughnut I've had in Colorado thus far. The coffee is also delicious. I'm glad I drove out my way to come here. The dough is unique in texture and has a very good balance of weight, texture and flavor. The glaze and frosting is flavorful without any off taste. This would be my go to doughnut shop if I lived here for sure. It's also a very clean shop with friendly service. Thumbs way up! read more

It has been several years since I have been to lamars. I was so excited to have a glaze cake donut. But I get there and all they had left was choc cake donuts. So, since I drove all the way across town, I decided to get the choc cake donut. I waited until I got home, so that I could savor my prize. THEY WERE TERRIBLE!!!!!! Very greasy and inedible. Lamar's is my closest chain donut shop, and though I usually prefer the independent places, they're probably the best chain in town. I always enjoy their variety, they keep the place clean and service is quick. As far as the important stuff goes, the donuts are usually well-stocked and everything I've tried has been very tasty. I do wish they would go back to using actual M&M bits instead of the candy they put on top now, but it's still probably my favorite one. It's hard to go wrong with a good double Dutch though. They have all the usual flavors and a couple of more interesting ones like a cherry fritter, and they tend to be on top of the seasonal sprinkles for the various holidays, which I always appreciate. Don't know where all the four and five star ratings are coming from! I found these donuts to be totally commercial with basic less than stellar ingredients. Last purchase was a raspberry jelly donut, here they call a Bismarck. This was one leaden clump of fried dough with raspberry jelly that was thin and unflavored. I had LaMar's Donuts for the first time this past Friday and WOW! My husband and I got some Saturday on our way home from shopping, he had to taste them too. These are our new favorite donuts. My guess is it is best to go early in the day for more selection, but, what was available was still soft and fresh. I've only been here once, but it was great! I picked out a dozen donuts to bring to work to share with the office staff. The guy at the counter was very nice and we had a fun little chat about baseball. They even had donuts with Rockies colored sprinkles... purple and white on chocolate! Things You must know about Lamar's Donuts: 1. I strongly feel that a specialized donut shop should have a donut or certain product that they can differetiate themselves from everyone else. When asked what there specialty was or there most popular item the workers looked at me funny. 2. Coffee is average. 3. Donuts are average to lower average. Nothing spectacular on the menu. 89 cents per regular donut. 4. Large seating area. 5. No drive through 6. Clientle for this place is people above 50 mostly. 7. While not bad, Lamar's is one of the worst independent donut shops I have ever eaten at. Someone commented how big the donuts are. Yeah they better be big for $1.89 per large filled donut. 8. Agree with other reviewers here that the donuts were a little dry, but I didn't have a problem like that. Go there early for the best selection as they are dry out of donuts (no pun intended) towards late afternoon. They have coffee here, but I haven't tried it. I go here because they supported the troops at Buckley for their July 4th festival one year. Dounts are sold individually or by the dozen. read more

I have continually missed getting to Lamars as my sister loves Dunkin. Since I was alone on a doughnut run, I made my way over shortly before closing. I had the pleasure of both taking with and observing Courtney. Before I left I told him that if the doughnuts were close to his attitude that I would be back often. I am so glad I made the stop...by far the best doughnut in Aurora, maybe even Colorado. The Winchell was disappointing and I'm not a fan of Dunkin. I had the eclair after dinner and it was delicious. I have had a few lamars here and there- at office functions, or a breakfast meeting, but I had never actually been to lamars until today. We went in around 11-ish, and they didnt have that much of a selection. I guess they sell out fast. I got a chocolate iced cake donut and a bavarian cream filled bizmark. They cake donut was sweet with overpowering sweetness. Same with the bizmark. I ate about 1/2 of the bizmark before I put it down and walked away. My partner had a chocolate cake donut and a sourcream old fashion. He liked both but also commented on their too sweetness. They were on the expensive side $9 for 4 donuts, a coffee and a milk. There online menu looks amazing, and I might have to try them again for a seasonal flavor like orange cake or cherry cake. But I think im gonna stick to Winchells. read more
