We have had a very good experience with Lamata Concrete at our North Oakland home. We had some sidewalk repair issues in front of our home that needed fixing to prevent tripping hazards. The owner was able to give me a quick estimate over the phone and had a repair crew out the next morning to do the work. The crew of Gus and Oscar were very knowledgeable, friendly, and hard working. They kept the job site as tidy as can be expected during removing old and pouring fresh concrete. The work that they did was excellent, and will improve the safety of our sidewalks. The work was completed that day, and they came back the next day to remove the yellow tape barriers around the new cement. They also did another cleaning of the job site, to remove any small debris that remained. I like the fact that the owner is local, quick to respond, and friendly. I will use them again. read more

My previous review was taken down... looks like Mata removes negative reviews to boost his rating. I hired his company in 2021 and it was an absolute nightmare. He's quick to take your deposit but will send his guys to work maybe 2 hours a week. Terrible/no communication. Intentionally vague contract so when he's not doing a job properly he can claim he never promised that. Save yourself the headache and money by going with a professional company. At the very least, do a search for a current license (spoiler alert, he doesn't have one). So he is not licensed or bonded- HUGE red flag! DM me if you're seriously considering hiring him. I hired Mata and his team to do around 1300 SF of stamped and broom finish concrete in our home. They were honest, knew their stuff, and job was completed on time. The price Mata gave me over the phone was very reasonable and he never tried to add anything extra. Right amount of material was ordered, ground was properly prepared with rebars and gravel, and they came back to cleanup the site. I did get quotes from other companies but none of them had any confidence on the work I wanted to get done. Poor communication. A very frustrating experience. Paid a significant amount in advance and the work was never done. We left texts and voicemails, which were rarely returned. When they were, they would make promises to come out and do the job, but nobody would ever show up. We tried to be understanding regarding Covid-19 and the air quality problems. However, in the end, the job was not done (not even started), and they are unable or unwilling to return the money they took for a job they never did. Overall a really good experience and beautiful outcome. I hired them to do a complete rebuild that opened up the driveway and narrowed the staircase. I had an existing retaining wall that was built without footing - Lamata patched the cracks, added stucco, drilled holes for drainage, and added a foundation! The management agreed to deliver service that they couldn't or didn't want to. Sketchy communication from beginning to end. I was rescheduled three times before calling off the project, entirely.
