This is ONLY because we checked daily work and instructed them to fix mistakes and sloppy work. They spent a lot of their time redoing what should have been completed right the first time. Daily progress (or lack there of) showed us that the owner/project manager (Tevita/Mata) is not a good project manager nor that he gave his crew clear direction on this project. The process after contract signing was horrible...not at all professional. The project took much longer than Tevita initially quoted (over 2 months vs the 2 weeks he originally told us). This resulted in change orders and cost overruns. He also tried to charge me to fix their breakage/mistakes/errors (e.g., fixing the sidewalk his workers broke). His crew was not respectful of our property (we had to live with their mess...it's not a vacant lot). They did not regularly clean up the work site nor organize equipment and materials left onsite. Seeing their lunch garbage (cans, bottles, wrappers, etc.) at the end of their workday was common. This continued even after repeated complaints to Tevita and to his crew. No one on site could to provide straight answers as to that day's work or when specific project goals would be completed. Whenever I would spoke with him, Tevita made excuses, provided misinformation, denied deliverables he previously promised, and deflected from answering direct questions. He has a habit of talking over the customer when asked questions he doesn't like. On at least one occasion, he raised his voice and started yelling to avoid answering questions. If it was not in writing, he'd say it wasn't what we discussed. I have never had such issues when working with professional/reputable companies. Tevita and his crew failed to meet every single deliverable date he set. I found him very difficult to work with. I feel that he does not show proper respect to the customer. Instead he appears to think that the customer, the person paying him, should accept subpar work. I suspect that he may also not fully understand the processes involved with the work being performed. I feel that Tevita and Lamata Concrete are not professional. They didn't use professional equipment and they didn't manage the job site or their onsite work time professionally. Their workers typically started late morning and were gone by early afternoon. Lamata Concrete has major logistical problems. They couldn't get an adequately-sized crew or required materials to the job site at the start of any given day, typically interrupting workflow for hours to go fetch supplies. Had they staged materials and tools at the worksite (where there was ample area to store all materials needed for the entire project) and had his crew worked a full 8 hours per day at the job site, I believe they could have finished weeks ago. They are SLOW...3 weeks for a stamped concrete driveway and pathways. I definitely CANNOT recommend them for a cinder block wall. It took way too long (over 2 months) to complete. I feel like they have never built this type of wall. I regret hiring Lamata Concrete. I CANNOT recommend Lamata Concrete nor would I use them again. They were such a hassle to work with compared to the many other professional/reputable companies I have hired. My opinion...take their negative YELP reviews seriously and ask for references and talk to those references. Tevita's response is a great example of how he makes excuses, provides misinformation, denies promised deliverables, and deflects from addressing the real issue. I find it a bit childish and very unprofessional.

Lamata Concrete proved to be the perfect partner for this because the 1) got back to me the quickest, 2) were not deterred by the relatively small size of the job, 3) they were able to fit us into their schedule within a week, 4) they were very price competitive, 5) they communicated very well, 6) and the executed the project quickly and flawlessly (showed up when they said they would and did quality work). Gerardo came out and did a careful assessment of the yard and walked us through a clear game plan to get everything cleaned up and under control. The scope of work included trimming overgrown trees and shrubs, removing weeds, taking out a few unwanted trees, and spraying for bugs. The crew worked tirelessly for about 9 hours straight to complete the job, and their work ethic was seriously impressive. I really appreciated how professional and thorough they were. They made multiple truck trips to haul away and properly dispose/compost all of the material they removed, which was a lot. Just as important, they did a great job picking up after themselves and left the space looking clean and organized when they finished. Our backyard looks completely transformed now. If you're looking for a hardworking, reliable landscaping team that takes pride in their work, I would absolutely recommend the team at Rosales.

It was literally a scramble drill to manually water every day until we could move in - not exactly the home-coming we were hoping for. Gerardo and his team restored our faith in contractors. I can't say this with near the emphasis I'd like to right now, but it's important. So I'll try. This crew truly takes pride in what they do. They really care. They were meticulous, respectful, prompt with scheduling and work ethic. Every day, (my wife reports) they busted their butts! So let me back up. Day one when we moved in, we found a blowout on the first manifold of our irrigation system. No water to any of the 12 irrigation zones. Beyond that, we came to learn that tree roots and other problems had completely taken 2 zones offline, and there were an assortment of other problems all over the yard. The wasted water (and bill) must have been enormous for the sellers. Gerardo promised me that he would fix our manifolds (all five of them), plumb them into nice underground vaults, and then ensure every plant on the property had water. He did exactly what he said he would do! In some cases, I had to laugh... If I could complain about anything, the watering efficiency is more targeted than I expected. We literally have little spouts from multiple drip lines directly INSIDE several bushes. ZERO waste. I've been running this thing daily to try and coax what were dying plants back to life. But I think my water bill may still be less than my prior home. Our previously dying plants are greening up. Gerardo fixed all the wiring, programmed my controller, and set us up with a VERY automated yard. The work is beautiful! FAR better than any irrigation system I've had before. Gone are our multiple PVC towers. Now we have beautiful, invisible, underground access panels. Our yard NOW does what we thought it was going to from day 1. Do yourself a favor. Your search for a landscaping company needs to no further. This is your landscaping company.

I wanted to do a raised pergola (I chose Paragon Outdoor for its height) on concrete pedestals of differing heights extending from the patio to match pergola ceiling height with sliding door height (9 feet?). Required precision, laser level, making pergola before pouring concrete. Turn out nice. High pergola feels more spacious and higher end. Most pics 6 months after with only 2 pics of hairline concrete drying cracks.

They connected the new drains to the main sewer line, maintained proper slope, reinforced with rebar, added expansion joints, and formed the concrete with a slight slope for effective water drainage. If their criteria was to not work certain areas and neighborhoods, an appointment never should have been made.
