Found this bakery totally accidentally. While walking in Johnstown after visiting the Flood Museum and taking in murals, a smell wafted in the air. Our sniffers were activated and we followed the smell. Aww. A bakery. This must be the source! Inside, we went. Our host greeted us and we asked about the smell. She told us they were baking raisin cookies. Drat! Not on display, not invited to try. Drat! We asked what we could buy. I landed on a gop, what I know as a whoopee pie. And raspberry tea. I stopped by here earlier today with my wife and her parents. We had previously had brunch at another place whenever we noticed Lambcakes across the street from Central Park. Since it was new we decided to stop in and see what they had. The inside was quaint and extremely clean with seating for 6 ( 3 2-tops) and a display case with some of their baked goods. While the selection was somewhat limited it all looked good, and I ultimately decided on the vanilla cupcake with blueberry filling while my father-in-law went with a baked donut. Total cost was $2.50! Talk about affordable. The sizes of the cupcake and donut weren't large but honestly I didn't want/need a large one after brunch. As a matter of a fact it was the perfect small amount of bites for a dessert. The cupcake itself ended up having a nice frosting to cake ratio and had a good vanilla flavor. My favorite part of it was the blueberry filling which was sweet and complimented that vanilla cake perfectly. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. While their wasn't a huge selection of baked goods I really enjoyed the one I purchased and found it to be the perfect amount as an after meal treat. read more

There are not too many bakeries in Johnstown that open in the early AM and offer instant freshness......thats why I'm ecstatic about Lambcakes!!!!!!!! Located in the heart of town right outside of central park. This new business is sure to be Baaaaaaaaaaaad-A$$ hit!!! From the moment of entrance the smell of fresh baked goodness just captivates you. My decision....made oh so quickly as the predominance of baked cinnamon slapped my tired face up. So i bee-lined for the cinnamon rolls. Bought a half dozen to take home. Very dangerous if they taste as good as they smell but i love to support new local thriving businesses. The BEST roll i have ever had. And thats no exaggeration. The sweet dough was so fresh it coulda been eaten as is. Add the swirly cinnamon sugar layers and ample amounts of it now have you convulsing. But thats not it...the freshly made cream cheese was unlike any other i' e had, in taste and texture. Not too sweet or sticky with loaded cream cheese taste. Just messy enough to enjoy sucking every last one of those fingers and lead you to the grand finale toe curling!!!Fantastic!!! The place was quaint clean and freshly remodeled. There were small amounts of seating n tables available. And there were many other small pieces of heaven to be enjoyed. We were in town visiting family and we were looking for a snack to enjoy in the afternoon. This is a really small bakery with counter service. There are 2 small tables with 2 chairs each, so it is more geared for a grab and go treat rather than something to enjoy in the shop. We got a couple of cups of coffee and one of each of the cherry filled chocolate cupcake, chocolate chip scone and cinnamon roll. The icing on the cinnamon roll was a little smeared because they keep the wrapped in the back, but everything was delicious and the prices are very reasonable. The coffee was not great, but I didn't want to base the review on the coffee, since this is not the main reason for going there. We borrowed a chair from one table and squeezed the 3 of us at the other to enjoy these treats in-house. It was all so good, that we had to get more to go. The apple muffin was good and will filled with fruit in the center. We got a couple more of the scones and also got some chocolate biscotti. I highly recommend this little shop if you are in town and are looking for a quick treat or a breakfast pastry. read more

Recently moved to Johnstown, Pa. and was in need of a baker for my daughters 8th birthday and found this place. After yelping and instagramming them and seeing amazing artwork and reviews I decided to give it a try. I was very disappointed when I saw the cake but still took it home after paying for it. Once we sang happy birthday and cut the cake everyone was secretly throwing away their cake. This has never ever happened to me and I've purchased birthday cakes from grocery stores and other bakeries many times over the years. I tasted the cake and the frosting was overly sweet but lacking flavor it tasted just of sugar nothing else. The cake itself on the inside was very dry but sense at the same time and also with NO flavor at all it just tasted like a pound cake with no butter or sugar. There was also nothing appealing about the cake the design was so bland and colorless and nothing stuck out. I feel like they rushed it being I wanted something very simple but you could definitely notice that they did. I must say having went to culinary arts school years ago I could've made a much better cake and design I just needed to save some time with everything else I had to do to prepare. The people I met here on both occasions were all very friendly and welcoming but everything else was bad. We ordered a 1/4 sheet and I'm glad we didn't go bigger because every piece was thrown away as well as the leftovers no exaggeration. Disappointed nonetheless being my daughter looks forward to enjoying a piece or two of her cake every year. read more
