I have not been to a Perkins in a hot minute. My last visit to one was not very pleasurable and I always go out of my way to avoid going to one. I know what you are thinking, why am I giving this place, a small chain, such a high rating. Well, give me a minute and I will tell you. As it continued to rain and tired of having to figure out something new and exciting to make at home we ended up here. The parking lot wasn't full in the least and we were able to walk in and be seated right away. I do have to say that the inside felt extremely small, maybe that was because of the restrictions in place for the time being. Our server, I'm not sure if I got this right or not, Danny was pretty amazing at what he did. He greeted us warmly, took our drink orders and gave us a minute to browse over the menu. When he returned with our drinks he was more than ready to take our order. How do I know that he was good? He took our orders without writing it down, and when the order showed up every single thing was correct. Absolutely everything that was ordered by us was right in front of us. He was the happiest and most patient person I have come across in a very long time. You deserve a raise my man. I had ordered the Fish and Chips meal which came with a side salad. The side salad was more like a mixed green salad with a lot of the toppings I didn't expect from a chain. It was a good portion to serve as a side. As for the Fish and Chips, spot on. Three modest sized strips of fish that were battered to perfection. The battering really made it hold up against the tartar sauce. The fries, basic, but a nice compliment to the fish. I did walk out of here satisfied. And with such a nice server it made the experience so much better than expected. read more

If for no other reason, go there for coffee and a meal fun. They are just too good. I think my favorite to date is the pineapple upside down muffin. The staff have always been very friendly. Breakfast food is standard to me. Eggs, toast or pancake, some kind of meat, some kind of potato. Not bad, just average. Husband loved the meatloaf. read more

If you are in the mood for American comfort food, this is a good choice. We visited for breakfast. We were quickly seated and had a great attentive waitress. Our food arrived quickly and tasted great. My aunt was so happy with her strawberry waffle and my pancake breakfast was great! Restaurant was clean and staff was great. Perkins is your typical down home, American, comfort food restaurant. Always delicious, always friendly. This particular restaurant never disappoints. Whether you have breakfast on the mind or dinner, it's always tasty! I've visited this location number of times and I've never had a single complaint. Perkins does breakfast really, really well, so if you're hungry for some eggs and breakfast potatoes you are most definitely at the right place! Their burgers are also pretty tasty too! I have also tried their salmon dinner. YUM! The salmon was perfectly cooked! If you find yourself still hungry after your meal, you can't go wrong with dessert from the bakery. I just want to say that the waitress Stacey was very attentive and on point with our order even with it being busy during the Christmas season and they were very busy that day.our meals were not prepared the way we had asked and she had them remake it even before it came to our table. She kindly notified us of the situation and apologized for the delay.we said that's ok we were just enjoying our time. Them she obviously explained it to her manager Melana whom came over and also apologized and took care of our bill. Johnstown Restaurant location 3894 we highly recommend them. Generally I am not a fan of chains, but this place does it right. We love that the whole menu is always available, and no one bats an eye if you want lunch during breakfast hours. The turkey dinner is excellent: tender, juicy turkey with tasty dressing, good mashed potatoes, and plenty of gravy. Everything on the menu seems to be good. My husband and I had breakfast/lunch there on 6/4/18 and everything we were served was almost inedible. My husband had breakfast potatoes and with it was served a foreign object. The waitress said "oh, it's a chicken finger" Oh really? Then laughingly said "what's the matter don't you like meat?" The french toast croissants were so tough, they couldn't be cut and thrown on top was a strawberry glaze (instead of just strawberries) and whipped cream buried the bacon. The scrambled eggs were powdery. I was told upon leaving "the cook is new". I hope by now he has learned to cook or has been replaced. Very disappointing. read more

I do not give these kind of reviews easily. I've been in a business where you live and die by the reviews you receive, so this review is given with profound sadness. Tonight, I took my 92 year old mom to this restaurant for a piece of pie. She also purchased a second pie to share with her friends at her senior community. There was nothing wrong with the pie or the service. Both were exceptional. The issue arose with the Manager on duty on May 27, 2018 at 7 PM. I had a coupon that I failed to provide immediately upon check out and informed her after she had rung up the sale. I asked if we could still use this coupon and the very nice girl at the counter went back to check. Her manager told her that we could use it on a future purchase. Now I've worked retail in the past and I can tell you that it doesn't take anything to void out a sale and re-ring it. The coupon expired today and when I brought that to her attention, she said she would honor the coupon until tomorrow. The coupon was only worth $3, not anything by most people's standards, but my Mom lives on Social Security exclusively. This pie was a big deal to her and that $3 meant something. Whoever this Manager was, most likely an Assistant Manager only, needs to be fired. You compromised your company by this decision. We did not make a scene as that would be beneath us, but it did result in this review. This was laziness at its highest level and inexcusable on every level. My Mom loves Perkins, but I'll be hard pressed to bring her back after this experience. Shame on you for ripping off a 92 year old woman. Seriously??? Inexcusable on every level. read more
