Ate here with my friend during our day trip to Ligonier. Totally vegan/vegetarian friendly. This is unique house turned restaurant and tea place. Make your way to the kitchen where the hostess will show you the freshly prepared salads and dishes of the day. I went for 2 small servings of the peach kale salad and soba noodle salad. Everything tasted delish! We sat outside and enjoyed the summer day. Looking forward to eating here again!

Had a really great Apple Cheddar Grilled Cheese for lunch. Loved the quaint and homey dining area and that they even invited me to go into the kitchen to show me what they had available for the day. I really enjoyed the experience while spending the afternoon in town.

Wonderful food in a relaxed atmosphere (and good air conditioning!). A haven for vegetarians, but everyone loved it. Two of us shared the grilled cheddar and mushroom sandwich, with different sides: cauliflower-pea salad on one plate, and Greek orzo salad on the other.

What a great find! Here on a visit from California. Wonderful selection of salads and I like how you can choose several per order. All are made fresh on the daily. The highlight was the freshest tomato soup and mushroom grilled cheese which she was kind enough to make half. Comfy and delicious which is rare. Will return soon! Loca

A lovely cafe! It's a house that's been converted into a restaurant. There are various different bean, pasta, beet type salads to choose from. Depending upon the day there are also frittatas, pizzas, or sandwiches. They have a huge selection of tea's as well. A lovely place to stop and eat. The atmosphere is very calming and happy. The food is marvelous! I had a frittata and red bean salad, my hubbie had a 3 combo plate of different salads. I highly recommend you stop here!

Probably my favorite restaurant in the greater Pittsburgh area. So adorable, with its charming house location. The food is amazing, and it has a unique ordering process where they take you back to the kitchen to see some of the food before you order it. Best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had.

We come in for sourdough waffles on Saturday. A wonderful breakfast with fresh berries and maple syrup. Great French press coffee and a wide selection of teas. For lunch, great sandwiches, light salads, all fresh and healthy. The grilled cheese sandwiches are perfect. They also cater and have special dinners once a month. They have a fair trade gift shop and free wifi. Very friendly and accommodating.

Curry chicken, cauliflower pea & kale butternut squash over greens. $11.

A cup of very good tomato soup served in a large bowl made for a pretty plate but was not a large portion by any stretch of the imagination. I get it, but I should have gone with the grilled cheese sandwich which comes with tomato soup for $7 more. Others portions were large and everyone enjoyed their meals. Our server was very good and the place has a cozy feel to it. I just wish they'd upgrade the restroom from a oner. Since we were in Ligonier strolling through the Ice Fest, we decided to warm up with some beverages. I had Irish coffee and my daughter had the bourbon espresso cream. Both were very good and did the trick to warm us up!

On the outside, you're greeted with plenty of outdoor patio seating in front of the restaurant and live music from an artist playing tunes. Inside is a spacious bar, lounge and woodsy interior with another room with tables and larger party seating. Since we had a little one with us, we thought more fitting to sit outside, watch the horses and carriages pass and enjoy the fresh air. We were told by the hosts that the seating in the front, though unoccupied, wasn't available, but the tables on the side (which I thought were for storage as they weren't set, cleaned or too presentable looking) were. Although a bit confused by that note, we decided to sit outside. It seemed that there was only one server working the outside area as we saw her hastily going back and forth. We were sat at 5:35pm or so. After about 10 minutes, she took our drink orders and 10 minutes later we then ordered our food. We got the drink we ordered then patiently awaited our food. A little after 6:05p, it started to sprinkle with rain outside. If you know PA, the rain can come down hard and heavy, quick. We asked our server if they had other seating available who went to check. As we were sitting on the side of the building - in an uncovered area - we went inside around 6:15p to ask if there was other seating available. Surely a rain soaked toddler and water ruined food isn't the best look for a restaurant serving its guests.. Both the younger lady hosts and a man (not sure his relation to this restaurant), John, seemed a bit perplexed by our request. He then proceeded to advise that the umbrella-covered seating in the front of the restaurant wasn't available, pulls his phone out to check the weather, notes that it doesn't say it's raining, but instead says "yeah, I don't know what that is, maybe it's a neighbor spraying a hose nearby" (while another employee says "I see the rain on the window in front of us") and doesn't really provide any solution for us to sit so we go back outside. Very confused by that interaction, when we saw our server next, we told her that we would be leaving and we'll pay the check for the one drink we ordered. Another girl came out and apologized, saying she wasn't sure why they wouldn't let us sit inside or anywhere else and proceeded to take us to a table inside. Our now hangry and somewhat sprinkled on toddler got her food, noodles with butter, at 6:20p and we got our dishes at 6:30p. The food looked decent though I can't comment on its flavor and taste of our meals as I had no appetite then. I don't know who would want to enjoy a meal there after that interaction. No apology or conversation from a manager was ever had, no items removed from the bill or a complimentary item provided to make up for the poor experience. We didn't eat much as we were quite off put but paid the bill in full. I still have no idea who the "John" guy is and what purpose he may serve there aside from the blatant disregard of guest's concerns and a poor example set in front of the younger employees. Our server and some of the other runner girls were kind, so I don't think customer service and general decency as a human is lacking from this town but this experience and this specific restaurant left that unfortunate impression. If he or they didn't want us there, I surely would have appreciated the honesty so we could spend our money and celebrate Father's Day weekend elsewhere. I don't plan on coming back and only Yelp members don't visit either. If I could tell you to avoid this restaurant at all costs, I would.

The prepared items cover everything from prepared deli salads and cheese to hot sauces and pickles to locally processed meat. I'm not into the butcher aspect, but I appreciate the local and sustainable sourcing. The food is good and well thought out. The space is very nicely designed and well maintained. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I especially appreciated that they were willing to prepare a breakfast sandwich for me and my partner with the ham on the side. Everybody won, with me getting a vegetarian breakfast sandwich and my partner getting some sliced ham to add to her portion. All told, this is an excellent establishment for a low key outing while you're visiting Ligonier. The hours are extensive, so it fills just about any breakfast/lunch/snack type need. It honestly has the feel of an early stage Starbucks with a friendly "enjoy this space with friends" vibe combined with a hip local grocery store.

What I can't quite figure out is the flow of the place. The way you order, receive your food, and move through the restaurant just feels awkward and oddly unwelcoming. I've also tried several of the sweet treats thinking maybe I just caught the bakers on an off day the first time, but unfortunately they've been disappointing more than once. I'm honestly confused by all the glowing reviews. The ambience is great, but the overall experience just hasn't lived up to the hype for me.

Being from out of town, we were looking for a special spot for lunch with the same charm and draw of Ligonier overall. During our selection process I had written off some other reviews talking about how the fact that this is a local scene detracted from the experience. When we arrived, three of the six tables in the place were occupied by a group of locals talking about whatever. No problem, great, glad there is a sense of community, but the closeness of the seating and the setup of the place meant that me and my spouse didn't really have our own conversation. We weren't invited into the conversation dominating the entire place but did have to listen to it, including the cringe comments on a couple different social issues of the day. I wouldn't normally mention the conversations of patrons in a review but by the same token this business felt the need to display some fake Trump $1,000,000 note on the cash register. The inside decor of the place feels tired, lots of old articles on the walls and a random collection of trains, Elvis, and classic car stuff. All faded/fading. Our server appeared to have just rolled out of bed, threw on a miscellaneous t-shirt, some crocs, and showed up to work. The menu consists mostly of stuff you probably already make at home. There are more options/distinctive items however at the GetGo gas station down the street. For what it was, the food we had was good and the pricing is at least commensurate with the food. These factors saved the two stars in the rating. Wishing we would have walked out shortly after sitting down. Ligonier has so much more to offer. Hoping this review might help someone else not make the same mistake.
