Christa is top notch at make up, she always make me feel beautiful for special events. She know just what I need and never makes me feel or look over done. Melissa does my hair. She is the sweetest thing alive! She always makes great suggestions when I have no idea what to do and always hits it on the head. She started caring for my hair right after it started growing back from chemotherapy and truly made each growth transition stressless. They have easy online scheduling and text reminders. This salon destroyed my hair three different times. once fried and burnt it with excessive heat blow drying closely touching the hair . they chopped my hair off leaving holes and missed patches. this was nearly 11 months again my hair has not grown back enough to cut it again. I came back for them to fix the cut however it resulted in an even worse cut. it is a horrible cut cannot be styled in anyway or curled straightened. To add insult to injury i paid and tipped a lot! I suggest a great clips cut for 20 buck. I dont need coffee i need a professional person who legitimately knows how to cut and style hair not high priced hacks ! I have photo evidence it has affected my style career relationship and esteem and mood ! eventually it will grow back in the mean time it i am very unhappy with the cut this salon and the poor service i experienced . read more

I used to get my hair cut since I was young when they were in the farms location and by south. The guy they used to cut my hair was good. There was a long gap where I stopped going since they moved locations. I didn't have a car so it was harder to get to the Mack location for me. I have been to their Mack location and ended up getting a hair dresser that had recently been given the go ahead to work on the floor by herself. I had about medium length hair at the time. I do only asked for one or 2 inches off. Little did I know after she was done with the first pass my hair was lopsided and uneven. I was really upset, since it was uneven and significantly shorter on one side than the other. A master or lead hairdresser was insistent that she had to fix her own mess and fuss was allowed to keep chopping off my hair. I recall being so annoyed and upset that they were allowing this person to continue working on my hair. It what is the rule and policy to make sure the hairdresser fix thrown mistakes on the clients. I felt bad for this hairdresser and at the same time frustrated that she was supposed to continue working on my hair. Needless to say my hair was significantly shorter than I had planned when I had stepped into the salon. It was almost 6 inches shorter than I had planned. I'm certain that the whole situation made the hairdresser even more nervous as she realize she had messed up the first pass and felt even greater pressure to fix it after the second and third pass. Remember watching the clock and realizing that the hairdresser that was next to her head cut three people's hair in the time it took her to initially cut and fix my hair. It was pointless to stress out this hairdresser any further and I clammed up let her finish. It was a dreadful experience and wore me out completely. I vowed never to return because I was so frustrated and annoyed at the staff for not helping or fixing my hair so I wouldn't have to have so much cut off. Luckily hair grows back in for me grows back pretty quickly. read more

She listened to what I was looking for and even taught me some new tricks to add waves to my hair using a flat iron. The rest of staff have been helpful and friendly too. I find it relatively easy to get an appointment without a long wait and there is free parking in the adjacent lot or across Mack. First of all, I was able to make a Monday appointment! Thrilled, since most other salons are not open on Monday's in this area. New to MI I have started the difficult search for a stylist that I feel strongly about. This is the person that 'get's me'. My fears of change, my aspirations to grow and everything in between. Lamia & Lamia has a fantastic environment that is both comfortable and inspiring. I felt well cared for from the moment I arrived. I had a blowout first and then returned two weeks later for a cut and style (last minute on a Saturday!). Next will be the major shift from Aveda color to Wella. I'm still working up to it. But I now have the comfort and confidence that I will be happy at Lamia & Lamia...and happy with the result. Thankfully! I have found my hair salon! We all know how moving and having to find our new dentist, new nail girl and new hair girl (or guy) can be. Lamia & Lamia is a GREAT salon. I called at 2:50pm on a Saturday because I'm a slave to the last minute decision. My hair was so long that my ponytail was starting to droop. It was time. They were able to get me a 3:00pm appointment with Jordan! I snatched it up. Only living 1.5 miles away, the timing was not an issue. Upon arrival, I filled out some paperwork a and then Jordan greeted me. I told her I'm very low maintenance with my hair and that I just wanted a lob and for my hair to feel lighter. She did an amazing job. My hair is once again manageable and light. Bonus: she wasn't overly chatty. I've fallen victim to the chat and hack of previous stylists. You know the ones who chat chat chat and snip snip snip, leaving you with a femme mullet? No? Haha. My next step is a balayage with Jordan! read more

I just moved into the area and was looking for a fabulous new stylist close by...so off to Yelp I went to find the perfect salon and stylist! And I sure did. From the moment I called the salon, explaining what I was looking for (who was really great at highlighting a blondes along with giving the best fresh cut), I was pleasantly surprised with how patient and kind the receptionist was with me. I was shocked to learn she had just started there. She also fit me in within a couple of days, I couldn't believe it! I was met with a smile & everyone was very gracious and kind when I walked in the door. I was greeted by April and she immediately sat me down in her chair & asked what I was wanting...as a blonde herself, we could speak the same language right away. She got to work and understood exactly what I needed and delivered a perfect haircut. April was lighthearted, easy to talk to and made me feel right at home. I was also thrilled to see a lot of the same products I use personally available at the salon! From Pureology to a Aveda to Sebastian it was all there to help every step of the way! She even took the time to blow dry and put some curls in my hair. My experience was five-star to say the least and I cannot express enough how relieved I am to find someone who is so close to home, I feel like I won the lottery! Chelsea is absolutely amazing. For years I would only get my hair cut about every 6 months because I was never really happy with how people would cut it and I also didn't like chatting with most hairdressers, I always felt the conversation was forced and awkward. However, Chelsea changed both of those feelings and I'm always happy to book my next appointment with her before I leave. My hair always looks phenomenal and she recommends great products that really work. She always takes her time with me and I'm always super happy with my cut. She also is super friendly and I love chatting with her. She always follows up on things we talked about at my last appointment and is a great conversationalist which is really important to me. I cannot recommend her enough!!! I am taking away a star because I did have a scheduling problem once. I showed up to my appointment and was told I didn't have one and that it was booked for the next month! I had scheduled it the week before and I'm assuming the assistant who took my call was in the wrong month in the calendar when they spoke with me. An honest mistake but when I got there, they weren't very apologetic and made it seem like it was my fault. I guess I should have confirmed over the phone that they had the right month but I feel they could have handled it better. I also had a wedding I was going to that weekend and I wasn't able to get in with Chelsea until the next week so I was bummed. I always schedule my next appointment at the end of my visit now and make sure to get a card to confirm I have the right day. read more

Kailey was amazing! I told her I was thinking of PINK hair--and boy did she deliver! She have me a beautiful Caesar cut and dyed my hair the prettiest shade of pink I could imagine. FANTASITIC!!! I called in on a Saturday morning, at 8:45, trying to book a last minute hair cut appointment before I left town on Sunday. I managed to snag one at 9:00, which was as last minute as last minute gets. I go in, never having my hair done there, only my eyebrows. Normally, when I get a major hair cut, I only let my cousin do my hair. So I was extremely nervous since I'm so so so picky with who cuts my hair. I was booked for Chelsea, whom I had no idea what to think of. She was very friendly and we worked together to figure out what hair cut I would go with. The entire experience was wonderful. She was as professional as professional can get. Not to mention talented. We had a pleasant conversation the entire time and she gave me the best blow out my hair has had in a loonnngg time. It was my first major hair cut in over two in a half years, and I had no real direction with what I wanted. But she managed to take 7 inches off my hair and give it life again. I LOVE this place. It's a very popular place, though, so make sure you can make an appointment. I've had my eyebrows done by Christa for the past few months, and WOW, is there a change. They're more shaped, and I never break out after I get them done, but I've been loyal to her for a whole three or four months now, returning every three weeks. She makes great conversation and listens well, so it's never awkward. Definitely LOVE. I just got my hair done recently by Mia and she did do a wonderful job, but that's most likely because I made it explicitly clear what I wanted; only four or five inches off, with light layers. I loved it. My hair was so soft after, and no hair was down my back or itchy which was a plus!! I definitely love Christa for eyebrows and Mia for hair, hands down. Coming back soon!! read more

I just had a blowout last Wednesday by Amber and it was the BEST blowout I've ever had. Today was the first day I had to wash it since I had it done by here, and it wasn't even because I needed to wash it, it was because I just had a body treatment and facial by Emma, so I had to jump in the shower to wash off the scrub. So, the blowout she did for me was straight with lots of volume, and for the first 3 days I never needed dry shampoo and it never dented. I just had to brush it out and fluff each morning. No hairspray. Nothing! I ended up curling on day 4, and day 5 I woke up and brushed out my curls and pinned a cute little updo! It was the best week of hair, I was thoroughly impressed. Back to the body scrub by Emma, she is AMAZING! And everyone should get a body treatment like every other month or AT LEAST once a season to exfoliate all that dead skin off and hydrate for a nice glow! She is excellent at finding all the best skin care products that suit your needs. read more

I got my hair done here last week and paid almost $300 and not one person noticed I got my hair done. The lady was very nice and took her time on my hair but it was definitely not worth the money I spent. I got balayage done and my extensions dyed and cut. I made an appointment w/ Vera for a deep tissue massage. I've been a massage therapist for almost 20 years, but decided not to tell her. After the massage was done, she told me she had given me "bodywork" where she "reads" the body and determines what you need. The cost is $20 more. I could not believe what a scam this was. First of all, her "deep tissue" was medium at best and when I told her of my plantar fasciitis that had dissipated last year, she said it never leaves the body but travels to other parts of the body - Come on, really, that is a bunch of baloney. Secondly, she lightly massaged the wrong calf muscle that needed work. Vera was decent, but she is definitely not deep tissue and she does cut your time short and does try to add on additional services that are just not there. I wanted to tell her so badly that what she was doing was not very ethical, but I thought better to write a review just to warn others that you can find better bodywork elsewhere. read more

My first impression as I walked into the salon is "wow, this place is really nice!" But then I started noticing the crowd and everyone was retirement age. I'm not sure if that's just the crowd at that time of day because I went at 12pm on a Friday. But also all of the hair stylists are pretty old but they dress like teenagers from the 80s. Its pretty awful. Their hair even matches the 80s vibe. But looks aside, I went there to get waxed and paid entirely too much. I'm not a hairy person in general and I wax frequently. Even if I only have 1 strand of hair, I never shave or tweeze it. I got a bikini, stomach and underarm wax. For some reason salons never have stomach waxing listed on their menu and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only human being in the world that has hair on their stomach. With that said, I have no idea how much it costed and why my bill came to $92. I barely had any hair on my bikini line and it took her probably about 20 minutes or less to wax all 3 of those places. She also was not thorough. Usually estheticians ask me if I see any more hair. She didn't. And of course when I got home and examined myself further, there was definitely still hair. I prefer my waxing jobs to be very VERY thorough! She didn't do a horrible job but it was just way too pricey for what she did. I won't ever be going here again unless its an absolute emergency. read more

They really are a family, and they respect and treat their clients just like family too! Even though I have my one regular stylist, everyone knows my name, and we all remember details about each other, which makes for great conversation each visit. They are very friendly, offer to bring you drinks and take your coat, and everyone is genuinely happy to be there! I have been going to Lamia & Lamia Salon for over 2 years and leave happy every single time! It took me years to find a salon/stylist that listened to what I wanted and was able to please my very picky self. I have had hilights, cuts, deep conditioning treatments, and waxing done at Lamia and Lamia and have left happy every time. The only stylist I can recommend is Chelsea, as she is the only one I have gone too. She has a hip young look and is an amazing listener to what I "want". She did my hi-lights right before my wedding and they were exactly what I wanted! She has helped me nurse my very damaged hair back to health and always recommends great products for my hair and low maintenance style. I have also gotten my eyebrows waxed there. The room is very nice and the woman (whose name I cannot remember as it was over a year ago for my wedding, I don't usually get my eyebrows done) was professional and friendly.
