I brought in a 45 year old floor lamp, a favorite, for repair. Spoke with Oscar, who told me it would take a week to fix. Not 24 hours passed when I got a call that it was ready for pick-up. Now, this lamp has a goose neck that can't be easy to thread wire through, but he did it! When I returned to pick it up, Frank helped me pick out a new 3-way LED bulb - I didn't even know there was such a thing. I had a multi lamp ceiling light fixture which needed multiple sockets replaced and a re-wiring job. I had tried for hours to repair it myself but it required all dexterity beyond what I possessed to fo the job. I called the Lamp and Lighting gallery and asked if they did this kind of work.. Frank said yes and send him a picture of the fixture and he would give me a quote. Ten minutes later I had a quote and being tired of the job that had gotten the best of me I took the fixture in right away - the next day I got a call that the fixture was ready. Came in to have light sockets replaced on an antique light fixture. The technician first told us it simply couldn't be done. Then when pressed he admitted it could be done but that it would be too much work. When we indicated we were still interested in pursuing this option he again tried to dissuade us by saying it would be $500 for a socket replacement. It was clear he was simply too lazy or disinterested in performing the repair. Total waste of a trip, would not recommend this place at all. read more

We had a 60 year old lamp fixed here. It needed a new fitting and rewiring. 2 days after we dropped off the lamp, we received a very clear phone estimate of the cost which I thought was very reasonable. 2 days later, the lamp was ready for pick up. The LLG folks even went to the detail of brushing the shiny brass fitting they installed so it would blend in with the brushed brass of the original lamp. They also carried the repaired lamp out to the car and suggested how to best transport it. I certainly recommend them and will go there again if I have other lamps to repair read more

I have a beautiful antique crystal French, Empire-style chandelier, and it needed re-wiring because over time a few of the light sockets stopped working, and it was missing a few of the candlestick covers. Due to the excellent reviews on here, I took it to Lamp and Lighting Gallery, and they re-wired the chandelier and replaced the candlestick covers. The chandelier has six light sockets, and they did a good job. What impressed me the most was how nice and professional and courteous they are, and they completed the repairs in one day. I dropped it off on Friday and they called on Saturday to tell me the repairs had been completed. I have a few lamps and other light fixtures that need fixing, so I'll be taking those items to their store because they did such a quick and conscientious job on my chandelier. read more

In the era of amazon and other low priced online options, sometimes you forget how nice it is to talk and deal with a HUMAN BEING. Someone with expertise of what you're looking for and can give you great advice. Best of all they even price-matched the online prices I saw on amazon so there was literally no reason to buy online. WIN-WIN! Coming in here and talking with Frank was like a breath of fresh air. He was so incredibly helpful and patient. I was searching and reading about undercabinet lighting (specifically LED lighting) and it was really rough sledding to find much information onilne or even be able to see the lights in person. (i had checked out some kitchen stores and other stores) Frank was very knowledgeable about the lights, had some suggestions on how many would be appropriate and even took the time to sit down and compare some different options to see which was cheapest and most effective. You never got the idea he was trying to up-sell or looking out for his own interests. I ended up going with lights from wac lighting which he ordered for me and they arrived within the week. The lights are much higher quality than what you would typically find in home depot or lowes and being in the store reminded you of the difference between a specialty store vs a big box store. I wasted so much time walking around those big box stores or getting poor information, I only wish I had came in here sooner. Highly recommend, especially with the price matching, you can find what you want faster and for the same price as online anyways. read more

If I could give 6 or 7 stars, I would. I had an extremely good experience with this business. I purchased a very cheap vintage lamp at a thrift store with some loose wiring around the harness. I was assuming it would not be safe to use that way so I took it here based on the two other 5 star reviews here on Yelp and I'm so glad I did. The two guys working there took a look at it and suggested replacing the brass part that holds the lightbulb with a new three-way switch, but not the cord, which they said was in good shape, on the (correct) assumption that I didn't want to put a ton of money into it. They charged me $25 and did the work overnight. They were so friendly, personable and reasonable! If I ever need anything to do with lamps ever again, this will most definitely be my first stop. Don't bother going anywhere else. read more

He has a loyal following due to his emphasis of respectful and expert service. Love to support neighborhood business owners! I walked in with three broken lamps, two of which I could have thrown away because the parts were so cheap but when I walked out, I has three "custom" made lamps with quality parts which will last for years and years. Selection of lamps, floor lamps, outdoor lighting is extensive (floor samples are tiny bit of what they can offer). The most professional lamp experts and gracious customer service. I came in after searching endlessly online for new lampshades for my 20 year old lamps (which were $750 each lamp). I was greeted promptly and warmly and within moments I was shown the perfect shades which I thought didn't exist from what I had envisioned but could not find. In late summer 2015, we renovated our kitchen and were looking for a hardwired, under cabinet light. We ordered and returned three lights to our local big box store as despite descriptions they were not hardwired. After returning the first one, we even had advice and assistance both from their online and in store staff in selecting the models! In contrast, at Lamp & Lighting Gallery, the staff are experts in lighting and their products. Within minutes of telling Frank about the light, he showed us various options even describing and illustrating some differences between Led, CFL and incandescent bulbs. He also unscrewed the light to show us that it was hardwired. In addition, Frank let us take a sample light home so we could ensure that it complemented our new design. We were really impressed with Frank as he is very knowledgeable about his products, patiently answers any questions, but is not a pushy salesman. We were so pleased with our overhead light and the purchasing experience that we returned to Lamp & Lighting Gallery to buy our ceiling light. read more

I brought in a lamp that I thought needed repair. The bulb flickered, I tried another new bulb and different outlet. When I picked the lamp up the bulb still flickered. The person who helped me got another bulb from behind the counter and the lamp worked fine. He said "oh you probably had a couple bad bulbs". So my lamp did not need repairing-instead of checking the bulb first and then calling me to let me know my lamp was fine they replaced the base and charged me. Will never return. read more

Went into Lamp & Lighting Gallery today searching for a chandelier for my dining room. Didn't know the name of the distributor of the chandelier, but they let me borrow their iPad and their phone to get as much information as I could about the light to see if they could help me locate it. They let me look through their catalogs to see if we could find something as similar as possible. I ended up not buying anything because they just didn't have exactly what I was looking for but honestly- they couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant to deal with. They even made me a printout of the chandelier and suggested I take it around to other stores in hopes of finding someone who would recognize it and could order it for me. Will definitely be back when looking for a light fixture again!! read more

What a great place to shop for a variety of lamps, bulbs, and anything related to lighting. Big enough to carry a robust inventory, small enough to give personal service. Their repair shop is just great. They use top-shelf Leviton parts for their repairs, not that cheap plastic garbage so common these days. Odd that this gem of a store sits in a nondescript strip mall, but don't let that scare you away. Take advantage of that huge parking lot and check it out. read more

Frank, thank you for your response to my post submitted yesterday. To set the record straight, you were friendly when I first met you and the store was beautiful and unique. However, you did not ask me to take measurements. I told you my bathroom was small and in a smaller townhouse. You sold me a special order that was a 20 inch LED light for 29W. The electrician said it would totally overwhelm the bathroom and was only appropriate for a mansion sized house of 5000 square feet. I am stuck with a light that I cannot use. You did not offer me any compensation and I did not patronize anyone. You were busy with another customer and unfortunately I could not wait indefinitely as I was on my way to work, although I waited about 10 minutes. You overheard what I said to Oscar that I was unable to use the light and you continued on with your customer and told him that I owed a 25% restocking fee, which was close to $100! I was never told there was any restocking fee and assumed you would work with customers to help them have a satisfactory outcome. I was wrong. The only notice about a large restocking fee was at the bottom of my receipt in teeny tiny print. Other businesses such as Amazon, Home Depot, Loews, and even online Quoizel have ZERO restocking fees. I realize that small businesses have unique pressures in today's business environment and I am not out to take advantage of anyone. My dad had a small business selling ladies shoes when I was growing up and I have worked and am currently working in retail. I told Oscar that I was willing to pay for return shipping or a $50 restocking fee, but not more than that. Summarily, I was told by you to leave and never come back. We need to work something out because I cannot afford to swallow a $375 purchase that I cannot use. Lesson here: buyer beware. You do have many satisfied customers with old lamps that get them refurbished and especially items with sentimental value and that is honorable. However, my situation is unacceptable and there needs to be a remedy. read more

I bought a 20 inch Quoizel flush mount light from Frank earlier this month. The one called "Blaze," to be specific for $375 plus tax. I told him that I had a small townhouse with a small bathroom and he recommended this light for me, even though they had smaller lights of the same kind already in the store. He said they only had the small lights in the store and wrote up a special order and called me about 10 days later to come and pick it up. He said the larger light would be fine for my situation. An electrician came shortly after from Fairfax Electric. He said this light would be overpowering in my bathroom and was really designed for a person with a 5,000 square foot house! I was surprised and disappointed because I really liked the light. I came in today and Frank was with another customer and did not want to speak to me. I waited patiently for about 10 minutes. He told his associate Oscar that there would be a 25% restocking fee, or about $100. I understand this is a small business and I hate returning things; I am not by any means a professional shopper, nor am I an expert in things electric or electronic, however, I was steered in the wrong direction when I explained to Frank the exact purpose for my purchase. I told Oscar I did not think this was fair and offered to pay $50 for their "re-stocking" fee. He said only Frank had any authority to resolve this problem. Frank then kicked me out of the store and said to never come back. This seemed very brazen and outrageous. I got upset at that point and told the other customers on my way out the door that he is a liar and told Frank I would make a complaint to the owner. No wonder Home Depot does so much business. They don't excel in customer service or friendliness either, much of the time at least and their employees are often temporary, but they do understand that sometimes people have to make returns and they never charge a "restocking fee." Although I really wanted this light to work, it just did not work in my home! read more

This is a great place to get your lamps repaired. They are experts at repairs of all types. I had 3 lamps repaired this summer and bought one new lampshade. Everything is so reasonably priced. I had paid far more for new lamp switches before finding this store. The service is excellent. The lamps were ready the next day. The staff is personable and helpful. Parking is convenient and Frank helped me bring the lamps into the store and loaded them into my car after they were fixed.
