I have been staying with this business for more than 10 years since before the renovations. And now , recently , since after the renovations. I had loved it before for the rustic charm and now I love it even more. The staff is exceedingly friendly and courteous, especially the front manager j. (Nice family guy cute kids) they have wonderful rooms, and especially the group rooms.AKA the cottages , I would strongly recommend them for groups of three or more , since they have kitchens and large living room areas. I have such amazing memories of this place, and it's so amazingly maintained and beautifully kept.I hope we can continue to give our money to this place as the grounds are beautiful. Truly a well kept secret. But i'm hoping to bring more business here , so people can enjoy it as much as I do. Especially with the new brunch business settling in next door the food is great.

DO NOT BOOK HERE. Cockroach infested, blood/fecal stains on sheets, air conditioning hardly worked and when we called the front desk to repair the AC unit they sent someone from maintenance and all that guy said was it takes about 6-8 HOURS to cool the room down. The next morning we woke up to find cockroaches crawling on the floors and walls. We pulled back the sheets to see if we could find bed bugs, and ended up finding what appeared to look like dried blood stains or possibly fecal stains. We immediately packed up and went to the front desk wanting to speak to the manager, who also happens to be the owner (from my understanding), who was not even there. The front desk worker had terrible people skills and didn't help us at all, but gave us a false promise that we would later hear from the manager within an hour. We never heard from the manager, so I called to speak to him. I let him know the situation I had dealt with in one of the rooms, to which his response was "you stayed there all night and I will not be giving you a refund". I asked for a refund and was said his behavior was highly unprofessional to which he hung up the phone on me. I have time stamps from the photos of us finding these cockroaches, stains, and even a used band aid in the trash below the trash liner, the following morning after we stayed in this hotel all night. GROSS. The manager is extremely unprofessional, rude, and it is absolutely criminal that this inn is STILL in business after all of the terrible reviews and the very obvious infestation of bugs. Please save your money and do not stay here. Lamp liter inn used to be a visalia gem but under recent new ownership within the last few years, the inn has gone downhill. This inn should be shut down and the manager should lose his job. Extremely unprofessional and so disappointing.

The bathtub is cracked, stained. Absolutely disgusting

No hot water. No water pressure. Disgusting stained carpet. Stained sheets. Graffiti in room. I don't know how they can even rent this room to people. I would've never stayed here. Very run down and old. I was told they housed homeless here during COVID.

Despite its outdated rooms, I would actually recommend this hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the layout of the room I like most coz it has a room for privacy (atleast the room I was in). It has this bit of space or entryway to the shower room that's covering the rest of the room. I also like the beautiful landscapes of their garden and pool outside. Whoever their gardener is, is doing a great job! Overall, me and our group was satisfied with our stay. Fantastic for one or two nights stay. The location was fairly quiet at night and about 5mins drive to places to eat.

I guess you get what you pay for... Check in was fine the lobby was clean and the service was fine however when we got to the room there were cockroaches on the mini fridge!! I was not brave enough to open it to see if there were more. I went back the lobby and the receptionist did change our room however was extremely rude and didn't seem worried about the fact there were bugs in our room. We we're changed to a room upstairs and thankfully found no more bugs. However to room was old and and dirty again you get what you pay for I guess. I think the most irritating part is that we had to go get out room key re activated EVERY NIGHT!!! When we went to let the receptionist know she said she thought we only wanted the top floor room for one night. Why would I want to go back to the room with roaches in it? We thought the problem was solved but out of the 4 days we stayed here EVERY DAY we had to go to the lobby and re activate our key

    Bloody fingerprints?

It was a great price, had recently been remodeled, was super roomy, with its own fireplace, and was quite comfortable overall.

The rooms are always clean, the Elderwood is an ice touch, and the vibe is always fun. During this trip, all was fine when what sounded like the HVAC system above our room started to knock. It's an old historic building so, things happen. The knocking though quickly turned into a roar. We contacted the front desk and this is where the true professionalism of the hotel crew, and particularly Maria, shined through. Maria quickly came upstairs, assessed the situation, triaged with other teams inside the hotel, and identified a solution within 20 minutes. Given the scope of the repair was unclear at the time, she moved us to another room and even upgraded us (even though she didn't have to!) for the inconvenience. Things happen, that's not an issue for us, it's how the team addresses them when they come up. The Darling team rose to the occasion with flying colors so seamlessly in this situation, especially Maria. So for us, just underscores a series of positive experiences at the hotel. This isn't an ultra luxury 5-star hotel, so don't come here expecting that. But it's a great place to stay in Visalia with a premium, boutique vibe, great restaurant, and clean well apportioned rooms. We will be back.

Room service was good quality, appropriately priced and arrived quickly. The only reason I couldn't give this 5 stars was there was no internal secondary lock on the door which made it feel a little unsafe as a solo traveler and also there were not clear instructions about how to enter the gated parking lot upon checking in. Otherwise I had a good stay and would consider visiting again just to eat at the restaurant.

The shower situation didn't help. The tub spout simultaneously pours out more water than the showerhead, so while you're trying to shower, the tub starts filling up due to a slow/clogged drain. Check-in was quick and friendly, which I appreciated. However, we were given incorrect information about the nearest EV supercharger. There are two chargers in the parking lot, but they're extremely slow. If they're occupied in the evening, expect those cars to sit there overnight because they'll just be left there. Let's call it the overnight special. UPDATE NEXT MORNING: "Lead foot" upstairs kept going well past midnight, then started up again around 6am. We were getting up anyway, but still. Lesson learned: request the top floor if you stay here. On the plus side, the continental breakfast was decent. Standard options (eggs and sausage) plus a few extras like a pancake maker, warm cinnamon rolls, and biscuits and gravy. Also nice choices for folks on the go, oatmeal packets, Chobani yogurts, hard boiled eggs, etc. Also worth noting, the Tesla destination chargers are free, which is a great perk if you can grab one. The fitness room was well equipped with treadmills, an elliptical, rowing machine, weight benches, and dumbbells. There's also a water refill station in there, which is convenient if you have a bottle with you. Would we stay here again? Sure... just on the top floor next time. 3.5 Stars.

We stayed 3 nights here for our hiking trip and the hotel looked nice on the outside. However, there were some things that could be changed 1. The elevator: It was very slow and we had to wait for a while to get to our floor. 2. Smells: There was weird smells coming from the hallways and the elevator. I also smelled weed in the lobby as well which was not pleasant. 3. Roach: YES! I saw a cockroach in my bathroom. It was a tiny one and I managed to kill it and flush it down but beware of them if you stay here. 4. Breakfast: Free breaksfast was nice but alot of my friends stomachs were not happy afterwards! Alot of their food is very mid and not the best quality. 5. Beds: The pillows were like bricks, my friend had a hard time sleeping on them. My other friends also faced stains on the bedsheets, making me question if I also slept on dirty sheets too. 6. Orange water: The lemon water in the lobby was solid. If there was one highlight, it would be that. 7. One water fountain: Finally, there was only ONE water fountain on floor three and not even on the bottom level. There wasnt even water in the free breakfast. I feel like that should be the bare minimum!
