I enjoyed my three night stay at the Radisson in downtown Kalamazoo. There are so many restaurants…read moreand stores within walking distance that I didn't need to use my car for most of my stay. Housekeeping and front desk staff were polite and helpful. I often saw housekeeping cleaning around the hotel, from restrooms to even signs. I appreciate that the hotel appeared clean and well-maintained. My room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small and a bit cramped, but it was fine for just me. Guests can conveniently park in the parking garage located across the street, which is connected to the hotel by a skywalk. You can use your hotel key to enter and exit the parking garage. Additionally, there is a box for dropping off your keys upon departure from the parking garage. It is expensive unless you get a group rate discount. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and thought the facilities were good for a conference, the staff were professional, and the location was great. It is an ideal location for anyone visiting Kalamazoo.

Overall the facilities were super nice, including the ballroom on the first floor, the ballroom on the basement level where we had meals, and the hotel itself. I parked in the parking structure across the street both days, it was expensive ($2-$2.75 per hour) but the *heated* skywalk from the structure to the hotel was super nice. My only tiny complaint is that the ballroom on the first floor was a bit cold - I didn't notice it as much yesterday, but today I'm wearing a long-sleeved T-shirt and no sweater and I'm cold. (May go retrieve my coat from the coat check!) Fun story, I also stayed at this hotel about 20 years ago when I took the test for the WMU medallion scholarship (circa late 2004/early 2005, I believe) and I remember thinking the rooms were nice then, too. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovations also, I believe their restaurant is under construction but there's still a restaurant option open. Overall I really liked this hotel, at least for a conference, and would return.

I was doing homework and studying for exams and it was difficult with all the commotion above me and outside my door which is why I gave a 4 out of 5 stars. Outside of that the room itself was comfortable and clean. Breakfast options were small & few, the only meat that they offered was pork and I do not eat pork so I did end up going elsewhere. I want to give a special mention to Shante (I hope I spelled her name right) at the front desk. Her customer service was great, she was accommodating, personable & very thorough. She assured me upon me leaving the hotel at the height of the noise is that when I came back she walks the halls and there should be no further issues. Thank goodness my stay from Sunday to Monday was a little bit more peaceful although I was gone for part of the day. Based on her customer service and the condition of the room I think I would give this location another try in the future. I just hope management/reservations would do a better job on placing such a large group to one area and have a little bit better expectation of the adult supervising the children of what is expected.

Next the bed... well bring an air mattress the beds are horrible. I've stayed at motor inns when the wife isn't with me that have better beds. Then after a night of no sleep we were informed that it cold breakfast on Sundays. That meant nonexistent yogurt and toast. When we checked in, the two men at the entrance were leaning back with their feet on the desk. No greeting or acknowledgment. The room was okay, but we never had service to replace towels in the three days we were there. We asked for assistance at the front desk and with housekeeping, but were ignored by all. Two bath towels were provided that were horribly ratty with large tears. One, walnut-sized bar of soap was to last us at the sink AND shower. We had one wash cloth and hand towel. The ice machine, pool and pancake machine were down for service. From the condition of the signs, I would imagine they had been out of commission for quite a while. No cinnamon rolls at breakfast, something HI is known for. Sweating donuts that looked like they were just out of the refrigerator were there instead and the coffee was undrinkable. No creamer either, only flavored Coffeemate. We only ate there the first day. It seems as though the owner is trying to squeeze out as much money as possible from their guests without providing the great service HI is usually known for. Very dated facility too.

Especially for the price and the location, I think this place is great!…read moreI was in town from a Wednesday thru Sunday for an event at Wings Event Center across the street. The location couldn't be more convenient! (though they could stand to have more parking). The lobby is nice and big, with couches and a TV, and there is a little convenience room that has small freezer items or some packaged foods for purchase, and coffee or tea complimentary for guests. There is also a "lending locker" that has a bunch of items available to guests. I thought that was a nice idea! I saw some board games, a crock pot, and some other kitchen items. Nice touch for families or people in town for a longer stay. There is only one elevator, so keep that in mind if you are in a hurry. There is no pool, but there is a workout room with weights and machines, as well as a laundry room. Laundry is free, but you need to purchase detergent and dryer sheets from the convenience area in the lobby. I did end up using the laundry room, and it was fine. The washing machine did take about an hour, so make sure to plan enough time if you'll need it. There is also a Business Center, though it's really just a tiny room with a computer. The rooms are a nice size. They have basically a full kitchen: fridge, dishwasher, microwave, small stovetop, with plates, glasses, and silverware. I had a king size bed, which was very comfortable. There is a decent size table in the room with an armchair as well as an office chair. The bathroom was clean, and had a pretty good amount of space. I was a little surprised that they only provide 2 towels since housekeeping is not done every night if you stay more than 1 night. I prefer not to have housekeeping done during my stay anyway. I didn't ask for more towels, so I can't hold that against them. Overall I felt like the place was pretty clean, and I appreciate the kitchen and amount of space. The staff was pleasant enough, and the location was perfect for me. If I come back to town for another event at Wings I would stay here again.

The regular king studio was tight squeeze at entryway kitchen and also bathroom. The living room was big enough for crib. The breakfast had both tru pancake maker and home2 breakfast sandwiches. There was also good selection of fruit everyday. We loved the view from 2nd floor to see fireworks on 4th and 5th from our room. Staff was super nice and gave us choice from their pantry front desk since one set of keycards didn't work. Location is perfect off highway and noise from road wasn't bad at all. We were there with my dad who is handicapped and uses a wheelchair and their elevators stopped working. I was told to contact their regional manager that never was able to be contacted. When I asked to have the front desk help me quiet them down so we could sleep, they must've known it was us because there was some chocolate chewed up and spit out on our car in the parking lot. This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had! We will not be going back. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!
