Okay so if you don't like the smell of fresh seafood go away cause this store is not for you. They serve fresh seafood which is i like. I like how they have a section of seafood where there's a pre cut or you can ask for a butcher, they also have meat. Their shrimp is more cheaper than the other seafood store (but still it depends on the day but mostly it's affordable.) they have a lot of variety of asian products. the service was good on the seafood section they actually pay attention on who ever comes first. The ambiance was really like the typical asian grocery store. Like what I said, if you don't like fresh seafood smell this store is not for you. But overall we always come back here and I definitely recommend this store for a variety of seafood. read more

I am not from Arizona, born and raised in Hawai'i. Our son went to GCU and all the students had to be out of the dorms by May 1, 2023. We rented an Airbnb and cook instead of going out to eat. When you step in this place it will smell like a seafood store, so if that's gonna be a problem this wouldn't be the store for lol. ALL HAWAII RESIDENTS, well..look no further for food for the kids lol. This place practically has everything, it reminds me of seafood city-ish in Waipahu. I jokingly scolded the kids, "now you tell me after running around kingdom come." This is right around the corner of GCU campus. In a ugly looking parking lot. They use random carts from so many different stores lol. But don't judge a book by it's cover! The inside of this store is super clean! Always stocked at least the 2 times I went within 2 weeks. staff is friendly! Prices are decent! They carry so much; guava (both fresh & frozen), green bananas, rambutans, breadfruit, etc. they have a large variety of meats & seafood! Always love coming here to get all my childhood cravings. check the dates tho, sometimes they're past due but their workers replace the item with a newer when brought to their attention and check the shelves after. So I say good service and nice workers since I've had no problem. read more

Coming to this store is like a treat for my kids, they treat it like if its a walk through a candy store. Maybe its because they love to load up on all the Asian candy that is just so cute and delicious. This last time we came though, they hesitated to get out of the car. It was in broad day light and they even suggested we just go home because of all the shady people just hanging around the parking lot. I'm not talking about your average down on their luck transients, these are people with full face tattoos that look as if they are high out of their minds. Maybe its the liquor store that is on the corner that attracts these people but even my 18 year old son was concerned about our safety. Trust me, we ran inside the store and ran back to our car when we were done. Once inside we felt safe and raided the store. They have so many things that you just don't find at your average store like Shirataki noodles, I always take them all, sorry. I have been getting a hankering for cooking Asian food, specifically Vietnamese and Filipino and this is the only store that carries many of the ingredients the recipes ask for. I was also disappointed that they don't carry balut, I have been looking everywhere and was sure this store would carry them but they don't. Their produce selection is awesome though, as is their seafood selection, many which is live. Overall this place is great with the exception of the the shady people who hang out outside. Since the recession has forced me to be more active in seeking out establishments where I can get lots of good stuff while spending very little, I have found quite a lot of easy-on-the-wallet places. Lam's Supermarket is near the top of the list. The place is huge, with lots of very inexpensive and very fresh produce, plus fresh meats and seafood at prices that will make any budget-conscious grocery shopper very happy. You'll also find lots of dry packaged and canned foods you'll never find in regular supermarkets, large or small. The other day I was finally able to find canned soursop there, and I've been looking for that item forever (if you don't know what soursop is, Google it; it's a tart and sweet rainforest fruit and the tree it comes from has recently been on the news as a possible source of powerful anti-cancer compounds). It's great to be able to go to a place where you can get a lot of groceries including hard-to-find food items, stuff your face on a tasty meal, and come out not having spent much at all. read more

I love American grocers, I love Fry's, Stater Bros, Trader Joe's and Sprouts but coming from a different culture, I can get most of the ingredients my family needs at these shops but I definitely need to visit the Asian market for items like Lychee and Durian for desserts or fresh Calabash and Taro for our soups. Not to worry though, Lam's got it! I also like that it's not too far from where I reside in the West Valley and the parking lot is HUGE. Another service they have that I like it, they'll fry up a fish for you for a small fee, makes dinner that easy! The reason that I deducted the 1 star is because the place is definitely a little more run down, not too modern and it's not all that aesthetically pleasing. It can set someone off, but in all honesty, Lam's makes it work for my family so I'm sure it'll work for you. read more

This is one of the most accessible Asian markets in the west valley. A lot of people may think this place is run down and avoid it because of that, but the options and variety of items are plentiful. I used to drive 30-40 mins to get to HMart or Mekong when I needed ingredients for traditional meals, but this grocery store has practically everything I would get at those markets (minus sushi grade fish and premarinated kbbq meat). Went here an hour before closing time and the staff was friendly! Lots of different things to chose from and all the shelves were stocked. We came here to get some snacks that we can't find at other stores and to get bulk seaweed which is way cheaper here. We also got some green tea drinks and seafood. The only downfall about this place which isn't their fault, is the area. There's so many shady people hanging around outside the entrance. Definitely make sure to keep your belongings close while in the area and shopping. read more

This place was great! It's huge inside. Apparently there are not too many nearby Asian food supermarkets around the buckeye area luckily Lam's seafood market was within 30 minutes. My friend and I needed to get some snacks for an upcoming episode we were filming on Asian foods and this place had it all. They had all kinds of different noodles, fresh produce, chips, drinks, fish sticks, a variety of candies and chocolates and tons more. Staff is also very helpful at check out. FIVE stars because the cashier (maybe owner?) was SO kind to this first time customer. Just wanted to peep in see what ramen they have and maybe pick up some Asian stuff not sold in regular stores. The ramens are so cheap here cheaper than Wal-mart! I got a real genuine corn broom for ... drum roll.. 4.99. I got two, a witches broom to sweep outside and the indoor SIngapore or fan broom for our indoor tile. Got some masks and the cashier was so thrilled to have a new customer, I am not Asian either, she gifted me with TWO boxes of the "luxury" (lol) masks. Picked up a big box of disposable masks I had mouth surgery and couldn't walk around with a bloody slobbery mouth in public. The cashier was familiar with the surgery I had and told me what to expect and she demanded I "drink lots of water!" what a kind woman. PS you have to rinse off the brooms in hot water and let dry before using or it will fall apart. This I know from using these brooms all my life. If you lived in Asia before you will appreciate this store, or even if you're new to anything Asian and want to try it OR find some extremely cheap household goods- cheaper than yes Walmart, then hop in and see what they have. I even got a "klompen", is the only word I know for it, I don't know what you call it, floor covering? tatami mat big one for I think 10 dollars not sure. The selection of Asian products is GREAT! The staff is quick to ring you up & the price is right.I go here because of proximity, selection & cost. Other Asian markets around town are 20+ miles from my home & cost a lot more. Pros: - great selection of Asian products available - quick staff - close to my side of town Cons: - this section of town particularly this strip mall needs attention & a 1/2. dirty, potholes you can park your car in & a little scary at night with the blinky horror film lights... - the store needs a bath/over haul - you can smell the seafood before the door opens which is beyond scary. I have seen this market at this location for years but was taken back by the neighborhood it's in. It's in a rundown shopping center. It almost looks abandoned. It doesn't help that it's in a busy intersection and the furniture store next to it has rundown signs. Seriously. A little bit of paint could make this place more inviting. Anyway, I finally went in hoping to find some tropical fruits because I can't find them anywhere else in the valley like I do in L.A. As soon as you walk in, you get hit with a very strong... fishy? sewer? (Or something in between) kind of smell. It's tolerable if you're not walking around on an empty stomach but it (the odor) tends to be the strongest in the produce section. Good selection of produce. Most of it looks good. Somewhat pricey. Not the store I would do my weekly grocery shopping at as far as milk and eggs, and etc but they have what you can't find elsewhere. Big selection of seafood too. Haven't tried it so I can't tell you how it is but it looks okay. They carry A LOT of products you don't see anywhere else so a BIG PLUS. Lots of products from Lanitoamerica. Huge selection of trusted GOYA products. Their freezer sections have a good variety of items not found in AZ or the US for that matter, too. Store is dirty in some areas (especially produce area) but it mostly just looks old. Didn't find anything that was expired. I will be back OFTEN. Found MORE than what I was looking for. I came here on a spontaneous whim. When first walking in you get a humongous wif of fish... if you are not used to going to a fish market you probably wont be able to get pass the stench of fish. The shelf's are all stocked with different culture foods. Majority of produce is fresh I loved the fresh okra. Beautiful selections. In the sea food section they had live catfish, lobster, crabs, and other selections as well as dead fresh fish. They cut and clean it there... they were very helpful and the area was very clean inside. read more

I recently heard about Lams Seafood Market from my niece. I thought only Lee Lees was the biggest Asian market until I walked into Lam's. Of course everything is Somewhat in comparison to other Asian Markets. Walking around I noticed a few different items that I have never seen at other markets. They had the infamous spicy noodles that all the kids have been raving about here that we couldn't find at Lee Lees! I also found Nam and more of a variety of Asian snacks. The only downside was they charge your debit card a small fee if your purchase is under $10 read more

I've been here a few times, but I only go when I absolutely need something fast and don't want to make the drive to Lee Lee, because they rarely or never have anything fresh. Their produce are usually moldy or wilted, and I made the mistake of buying meat here once. It had a funky odor by the time I got it home (I live 5 mins away). read more

D G 6 reviews 6 days agoNEW-Edit My wife and were there yesterday 5/3/2021 and we always go there every month when we were there we watched the meat section that had the windows open in the front and back and the guy had a black garden water hose pulled through the meat and was spraying the glass casing with it and when he was done he pulled the hose through the meat dragging the hose on the ground pork and belly the hose is not clean it was on the floor and when the guy noticed us he stopped and tried to pick up the hose but the hose was in the meat display. If anyone gets sick after buying meat from this place this is it. We will no longer buy meat from here again... read more

I don't see 3 stars as a bad review. It just means that nothing stood out good nor bad. I gave this place 2 stars because there were some pretty big dings against it. One thing I have to say that was a negative was that the live tilapia tank had 5 dead ones laying sideways at the bottom of the tank. Outside, the store parking lot is full of pot holes and litter. The carts are resourced from staples and other stores. Inside you see the multi color of packaging from other parts of the world. Designs and graphics that clearly are meant to move product in a totally different culture. The smell was not off putting for me, since I grew up with the open air butchers in Mexico; not even my overly coddled son minded the smell so I am wondering if other reviewers are just more sensitive to that. The canned goods had several dented cans which are not to be trusted especially for things that go uncooked. Not a bad store, just culturally different. read more

People often ask me how, with a college education and medical transition already on my plate, how I can afford to eat out so often. And the answer is simple; I can't. Between student loans, hormones, and, uh, chocolate chip scones (agh!!! crowd goes wild!), I owe so much money that instead of rejection letters the credit card companies just laugh as hard as they can into an envelope and send that to me instead. So I can afford to eat out when the occasion calls for it, I have at least two weeks worth of ramen, dried meats & fruits and green tea stored up in my kitchen to hold me over on those week/ends I'm as broke as the ten commandments and can't go out and get my grub on. But you see, run of the mill prepackaged imperishable foodstuffs are not enough to satiate my strange appetite and lifestyle; why, can you imagine how much a fool I would look, Jetta, the self-proclaimed Prophetess of Fabulous, were found in the possession of mere chicken-flavored top ramen and beef jerky? My reputation would shrink faster than my testosterone levels. And I can't lose both. No, I am a finicky mistress. I demand grotesquely cheap food with quirky Engrish packaging that will outlast a nuclear winter. And for such fare there is no better destination than Lam's Seafood. Not necessarily because it's in a great location, but because I know nobody else will go inside. Lam's can be a scary, scary place for the uninitiated. Korean and Filipino music is blasted through the speakers. The air smells of strange fruit and fish still alive in their tanks. The aisles are packed with food you've never even thought of eating, like prawn-flavored chips and chocolate-stuffed eggrolls. Any legible English found on the packaging is poorly translated and laden with idiom. I imagine if by some freak accident you woke up inside of Hello Kitty's brain, Lam's is what it would look like. Maybe pinker. And with more J-Pop. Okay, it's a crappy analogy but I have to finish this review, too late to go back and fix it. But fret not, like configuring a blue tooth headset and insalling Firefox for the first time, once you get over the "oh my god this is totally foreign to me" hump you'll be just fine. Ask someone for help, or bring a friend. Or date an Asian person. Whatever it takes to adapt to this brave new world. Before you know it, you'll have the upper hand in cheap, delicious Asian finds. While college students and World of Warcrafters are breaking up packets of the same old beef-flavored ramen, you'll be drowning your taste buds in instant hot and sour soup and the fancier, imported ramen (the kind with three seasoning packets so you know it's classy). Who needs frozen turkey burgers when you've got fresh lumpia, bean cakes and seafood that, despite still being alive when you come into the store, is cheaper and tastier than any seafood section in Wal-Mart? You'll be getting your chomp on to dried squid and chili-flavored prawn chips. And won't you look snazzy at your desk sipping Malaysian mango fruit juice and nibbling on coconut wafers while you're less fortunate, less fabulous officemates choke down their coke and peanuts. The world of budget eating will be your oyster. Or you'll find it totally gross and frustrating, sticking to your Fry's brand cookies and TV dinners. Which is cool, yo. I mean, we can't all be into the same things. Because if all you, you know, financially responsible adults start shopping there too, they'll be apt to raise the prices. Then I'll have to find somewhere else to get my ramen hook-up, and if you follow me there too you'll so totally be a poser. Or a stalker. Surprisingly I'd prefer if you were the latter. I have problems. Maybe when I'm not paying for a therapist I can afford to eat like a grown up. But I probably won't. Me love Lam's long time. There, okay? Great prices, fresh seafood :-) They also have a wide assortment of Filipino products which is a MUST for my kitchen. I haven't been to Lam's in a few months and felt the need to get me some wiggly live seafood so off I went. There is some major construction at the corner of 67th and Indian School so traffic is a bit of a nightmare right around there. There is a little Philipino restaurant right as you enter and they had some good looking LIchon Kawali (that's crunchy pork, for the uninitiated). I was in a bit of a rush and bypassed the Lichon, but next time I'll give it a try. The seafood here never disappoints and they have a good selection of Asian vegetables as well. I just love those little mini bananas too and had to grab a bunch. Also on the list was a 25 lb bag of rice for $16...pretty good price I thought. Now for the bad news...the parking lot here is kinda creepy especially at night. I've never had any trouble here but I've always got this feeling of imminent demise. The store needs a bit of a face lift. The carts are old and it just feels a little tired. But hey, it's a grocery store not a nightclub so I'm willing to overlook it in pursuit of some good far east grub. Personally I think Lee Lee Market is better but Lam's still holds it's own for good seafood. read more

Oh Lam's, you get me every time. Being a desert girl, I'm a little apprehensive when it comes to buying "fresh seafood" but so far, Lam's has not disappointed. I was taught how to cook by my grandmother whose mother was French creole and a lot of their recipes call for shellfish and fish. This market has made the cooking experience that much more enjoyable by being able to select your meat instead of just grabbing the first bag from the frozen section. Lam's Seafood is located on the corner of 67th and Indian School in a pretty sketchy part of town. The only reason I'm familiar with Lam's is because I take the bus there to California and back to Arizona all the time. I've stopped by on many occasions and I feel it's not bad. What I've always wondered is why are the veggies wrapped in plastic? Kind of odd to me. Overall, it has a lot of products you will find in an Asian market, just a little jacked up in price. Why? Because they can. I have only purchased canned or packaged items, so I can't review the meat. This was the only place that I found to carry an instant tea that my husband loves. Plus side, is that they do carry items not normally found in other Asian stores. Negative is the parking lot is full of pot holes and shattered glass. Right now, I believe there's a promotion for 10% off your whole purchase which Lee Lee's Market used to do, as I suppose they want to drum up their business. Everything is organized and clean. LAM'S SEAFOOD MARKET- First off when I entered the building FOUR associates didn't have masks on . Not only that but I walked on over to the famous seafood section and my god was I surprised. It was something out of a Sy-fi movie there was dozens of open clams and muscles on display which if you don't know that means they are spoiled. The live tanks literally looked like a green swamp with dead lobsters and tilapia floating at the top. The butcher had absolutely no gloves nor protective equipment and was about as friendly as a rock. Rotten meat same day purchase and 1st time there. This set a bad experience for my family who was visiting from California. The store should have been cleaner but besides that the ground pork that smelled like dead animal put the icing on the cake.
