I have no idea why I procrastinated coming here, because this place just earned a permanent spot on my list. I stopped in on a very specific mission: ingredients for a ridiculous pozole-pho fusion experiment. I'd already been to one of my usual Asian markets, forgot half of what I needed (because apparently I like making life difficult), and figured I'd give this place a shot. My first thought walking in was, "Oh, this is smaller than I expected." About three minutes later I realized, "No... it's just efficiently packed." The produce section keeps going farther than you think, the shelves are stocked with all the staples I recognize, and then you hit the meat department... and wow. Seafood, pork, lamb, goat, beef bones, organ meats--you name it, they probably have it. If you're looking for something that makes the average grocery store employee say, "We don't carry that," this is probably where you'll find it. I grabbed pho spices, fish sauce (and was genuinely excited to find a vegan fish sauce option!), two pounds of beef bones, and an onion for about $15. Honestly? I expected to spend more. I also stumbled across a Jamaican section, which completely caught me off guard in the best way. I was there with tunnel vision, otherwise I probably would've wandered around for another half hour convincing myself I suddenly needed ingredients for three different cuisines. The checkout was quick, the cashier was friendly, and while the parking lot was surprisingly quiet, don't let that fool you. This isn't one of those giant, chaotic destination markets, feels more like the neighborhood spot where people already know they can find what they need. It is nicely organized which made my quick stop in very easy. I'll definitely be back. Next time I'm giving myself permission to actually browse instead of speed-running my shopping list. Something tells me I'll leave with way more than I came for... and honestly, I'm okay with that. read more

Praise: Good amount of selections. Good customer service. Unfortunately the pricing labels are super lacking, so I always have to look at the items around the one I actually want to get to take a guesstimate. This most recent time I went , there were moldy taro roots on display, and I had to go back to return the sunflower seeds I bought, because they went bad and bugs were crawling inside the shells. Don't want to show pics so I don't gross anyone out. Also, the return policy is 24 hours so I had to go back the next day. read more

I recommend this place many times over. I come here often to get my favorite Asian meals and veggies, soups and utensils. This place does not disappoint. It is self service, staff tends to keep to themselves, but if you ask they will accommodate you to their best. It can be pricey, but it's well worth it. Love knowing I can escape the norm. read more

You need a lot of time to get through this store. Aisle after aisle separated into different Asian cuisines. The only problem is that creates a lot of duplication of the same or similar products being found in multiple aisles! They had the wrong (higher) price ring up on an item versus the shelf tag price and when we noticed they did sell it to us at the lower price. We did not have time to go through the whole store as we had a time restriction, however we will return when we need Asian grocery items! read more

This market is cool because it offers so many Asian goodies, BUT they overcharge for the products. If you drive just a litter farther out, maybe you'll pay less at another Asian grocer. In search of tropical root vegetables and bananas which are solid green (for cooking). These would be part of a sancocho-- a Caribbean stew made with multiple meats. Not available in my local supermarket and I was told Lam's Supermarket (asian) would have it. I wanted to save myself a trip to Lee's market in Chandler which didn't have the green bananas the last time I was there. So this is the context of my trek. I entered the produce area which is close to the door and the first thing I see is a package of 4 peppers (2 red and 2 green) for the sum price of $9.26. Did I lose my vision or my mind? I didn't know which. I know that I can buy peppers at 79 cents each so why this markup? It is sad considering the clientele that I saw there. these are not rich people. I saw many elderly asians and young mothers with children. As I searched through the aisles I saw very high prices. I saw a difference of about a dollar an item difference here with the prices here being higher. The sticker shock was met at the frozen food aisle. The Goya frozen bacalao (salted cod fish) was over $25 a pound. Yes one pound. At its highest I've paid $10.99 a pound. I think the owners may want to look at the pricing considering the location of the community. I bought minimal amounts of the root veggies that I needed because that's what I came for. Hands down the most organized Asian market I've been to! Also, everyone that works there is extremely nice!

This is my go-to for Asian staples like lap cheong, instant noodles, fresh pork belly, frozen dumplings, mochi & fresh jackfruit. While I'm here, I usually cruise the snack aisle, too, to see what new goodies they have stocked. The same items are usually always available, but the brand availability changes. So you can't always find the exact same item you bought the week before. One thing I did notice was that the pastries here do not survive in the desert heat. If you are buying pastries here, make sure to throw them in the fridge if you are not eating right away because you only have 1-2 days from purchase before they go bad. It makes sense because every baked item I have bought here is from a CA bakery. Honestly, if I want rice cakes or something baked, I go to G&S on 51st/ Glendale. I've had better luck with their stuff. Lam's comes through for everything else, though. The missing star is for Lam's never really having price tags on stuff. If you look closely, the tags themselves aren't for the item directly above (or below) them...so you're basically blind shopping when it comes to prices. Nothing has been outrageously priced, but best to come here without a strict budget because you will just get frustrated trying to calculate as you go along. read more

I have had the biggest craving for fried oyster mushrooms. They can often be hard to find in stores or very expensive so I set in search of an Asian market. After a quick Yelp search I came across Lams. Im sure glad I did because this place is a gem. It is located in a small strip mall with ample parking. When you walk in it does smell a bit fishy but I promise it's worth it to continue on. They have a huge variety of unique products from many different continents. Plenty of meat and seafood options, candies, pantry items and produce. I was very pleased with the amount of produce options, along with it being very fresh. I purchased 2 packs of oyster mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, okra, and a few other delicious items. Everything was reasonably priced. I will definitely be back, challenging myself to try something new each time I go. read more

Ok... this is one of the best Asian markets I've been to in the Valley. I used to live in the East Valley so my go-to were Lee-Lee's and Mekong Market. My friend and I were looking for some seafood options and stopped by Tan Phat on 17th and Camelback but their meat and seafood department left very little to desire. So I stumbled upon Lam's on Google Maps and I loved how organized their market was. They had so many options of EVERYTHING. I never knew there was another type of plantain like the Hawaiian one that I found there. I wasn't brave enough to buy it (yet) buttttt this will def be my new go-to Asian market for the time that I'm in Central Phoenix. read more

My first visit to Lams Market and I was very impressed! I've been on the east side of the valley for my entire Arizona life and needed to find a closer Asian market. All my immediate needs I was able to purchase at Lams! Good selection, clean, and most produce is individually wrapped! Everyone inside was practicing the recommended actions of the CDC, wearing face masks and keeping distance. Although this market is smaller than others in the valley, it still had everything I needed! It's almost comparable to think of Trader Joe's versus your typical supermarket (franchise). I usually like going to Asiana, Hmart, Mekong or 99ranch but this is the closet Asian market close to downtown Phoenix where I lived... Most of the vegetables are pretty fresh, sometime too fresh so wash them carefully. There are usually bugs and little snails that you need to wash off. read more

My partner and I are working in Arizona this month, and it's my first time staying here for an extended period of time. Having grown up in Hawai'i and living in California for a few years, finding a go-to Asian grocery store is a priority for me anywhere I live. I'm grateful to have found Lams Market to stock up on groceries during my time here! One thing I love about Lams is its impressive variety of groceries from many different cultures (Japanese, Vietnamese, Jamaican, Filipino, Korean, Burmese, Chinese, etc.). The store itself was well-organized and well-stocked. I went later in the evening so I didn't get to see too much of their meat and seafood deli but I found everything I was looking for and even added in a couple new things to try because I was so inspired by their selection. Everything we got was fresh and made me feel at home during my time in AZ. Would definitely recommend and come back again. read more

Lam's market is a smallish Asian Market with a large parking lot. There isn't much going on around it besides a nail salon, but I found that they do sell a lot of great things here. Prices seem to be similar and a bit higher than Mekong Market. Like most markets, some of their produce is fresh, while others look like they have been sitting on the shelves a little too long. I found that their rice aisle isn't as comprehensive as I would have preferred, but I enjoyed browsing through their meat aisle. The shop is very clean without any pungent smells and the staff are friendly. Instead of driving all the way to Mesa when I need Asian goods, I can see myself frequenting this store more often! read more

Picked up oysters (two dozen), they were spoiled or outdated, extremely smelly. I would not darn cook them for my family. I really hoped they would have been fresh but unfortunately they were not, and unsafe which is horrible. Will not return. Also I didn't return them because of how far I drove to pick up, over 20 mile. Gas would have been more in my truck ($30.00). I feel bad for leaving a negative review but the public needs to be aware. read more

Here is a mini Asian strip mall that have lots of Asian, mostly Chinese, groceries. Each aisle have a wide range of a particular type of food. Lots of variety of noodles, tea, condiments, snacks, veggies, etc. Place is within the strip mall where the Great Wall Cuisine (teahouse) is. read more

While this Asian food store is of a decent size as supermarkets go, it is smaller than the other more established Asian supermarkets in the Valley. Still, it offers pretty much what you need to make any Asian dish. In addition to a well-stocked fresh produce area, there is a fresh meat and seafood section, lots of canned and packaged Asian as well as non-Asian goods including a large variety of noodles, seasonings and spices, sweets, and much more. Prices are good and the staff is friendly and helpful. A big plus is its convenient location in the commercial plaza (with huge parking lot) at the northeast corner of Camelback and 35th Avenue, not far from I-17. read more

I was making sushi and this place had everything I needed to get it done - rice, wasabi, veggies, fruit (yes I like mango in my sushi), and some fun snacks. This Asian grocery store opened one month ago. What I like about this grocery store is that although bit on the smaller side, it's well organized and finding things were straight forward. The cashier was very friendly and tried to get to know you. I'm not sure if she was the owner, but she talked to everyone as she was ringing them up. Also, they have hard to find produce. Today, I was happy to find mangosteen; always wanted to try it and today was it. If I'm in the area again, I would stop in again. read more

I am trying to create some Indian dishes, so, given that Lams is the most highly rated Asian grocer in the valley by yelp's standards that was my first destination. I found absolutely none of the ingredients that I was looking for. Kashmere peppers? None. Green cardamom pods? None. Brown mustard seed? None. If you're interested in Thai, Korean, Jamaican or Chinese food, this venue appears to be a good source. If you are looking to make some Indian dishes, do not bother looking here. read more

Two stars because the flys... we moved down from the islands and was looking for a few items that we knew for sure we'd find at an Asian market... you can find item you won't find in a regular grocery store and that's a plus but the fruit definitely needed to be looked through and the flys needed to be handled. This is THE neighborhood Asian market. It's just the right size without being too small, and offers most food groups including meats, fish, and fresh veggies. There are also a few special items throughout the store too. The store is also very clean with great help by one employee I saw going around cleaning up after prior shoppers. I usually visit their other location on 67th Ave and Indian School but they didn't have some of the items I need so I made the drive here. They have different items that I've never seen at the other location. But I was able to find those items I needed here! It's a smaller store compared to the other location but the staff here is friendly and the store is neatly organized. The location is a bit rough and I wouldn't come here after dark. So glad we happened upon this gem while moving our daughter from Flagstaff to Phoenix. We're from Hawaii where Asian food and spices are staples, but difficult to find on the mainland -- until today. Stocked up on saimin (that's what we call ramen in Hawaii). Furikake. Nori. Hoisin and oyster sauces. Sriracha. Nanami Togarashi. Thai curry paste. Shoyu. Okonomiyaki sauce. All kind stuff. Love the other ethnic foods, too! Brought a bunch of Indian and Thai spices back to Hawaii. Daughter says she'll send me care packages of stuff I can't get in Kona. Yay! read more

We drop in here whenever we're down that way from Prescott. They have a good selection of Asian groceries and we stock up while we're there. When we shopped last night the fresh seafood all appeared dried out - not very appealing. This was disappointing. Our biggest complaint about this store is the overwhelming unpleasant odor (stink) which greets you as soon as you walk in. It gives an impression of filth, whether it's real or not. On the upside, it's convenient to I-17, they have balut, and the selection is good. read more
