I'm from out of town and was celebrating my wife's birthday. I had no idea where to get a cake and no way I can bake one. So I found Lancaster Cupcake and loved all experiences. First, they were great on the phone and answered all my questions and helped someone from out of tow. They offered more options then just the cupcakes too, decorations, candles and decorative box too (which I declined), but they have thought of every thing when it comes to birthdays, which makes Lancaster Cupcake more then just a cupcake please. The place is clean and they have a cool party room if you are looking for that, with an option to even build your own cupcakes on top of getting some of theirs (which ones will be better?). The shop looks great, the cupcakes look delightful and I thought it would be cute to get eclipse cupcakes for my daughters birthday. They look perfect, an appropriate amount of icing for the cupcake and the swirl in the icing looked like a galaxy. The added pearl candy was a nice touch. The icing was the best part, a cream cheese frosting. The cupcake its self was firm, not moist and over baked. The cake was not flavorful. I recently visited Lancaster Cupcake with my family, including my wife, two kids, and extended family. We had high hopes for a pleasant outing, but our experience turned into a nightmare. We ordered two milkshakes (Peanut Butter Oreo and Dirtcup) and "cupcake splits" for the kids. The bill came to about $30, which seemed high given that the menu only listed one price in each category at something like $5.95. We tipped around $5 on top of that (total ~$35) and declined a copy of the receipt, thinking nothing of it at the time. However, after some confusion about the order (they asked if we ordered two Dirtcup milkshakes with the PB milkshake instead of one, at one point), we thought about the pricing and realized something could be off. I went back inside to clarify the charges. The person I spoke with at the counter was polite and began explaining the upcharges to me. She was patient with my questions and I was understanding. As we were talking, another employee came up behind the person at the counter, interrupted us and asked in a sharp manner if I needed a receipt printed out, as if they were annoyed. I thanked them both and took the receipt. After review, it became clear that the extra cost was due to toppings (whipped cream and sprinkles), but the menu didn't make it obvious that we'd be charged for each individual topping-it made it seem as if one topping was included. While this was frustrating and felt like an annoyance, I want to be clear I am understanding of this and did not complain whatsoever. I was simply asking about pricing (This could be improved with more transparency on upcharges, but it would have been merely a suggestion for feedback and still a five star review, not the reason for this review.). As I was discussing the charges, I overheard three to four female employees behind the register repeatedly saying, "he's so f***ing annoying" and mocking me. Despite being respectful and merely seeking clarification, I was publicly humiliated. They also made passive aggressive comments like "are you serious?" "this is so annoying." When I asked to talk to the manager and explained what happed, she admitted she was aware that the staff had said those things and apologized, acknowledging that the employees should not have acted like that. She explained that the staff potentially felt overwhelmed due to a rush, but this does not justify the bullying and unprofessional behavior I endured. This experience made me feel like an inconvenience and left me humiliated. While the manager acknowledged the issue and apologized, the damage was done. I urge potential customers to think twice before visiting Lancaster Cupcake. The lack of transparency in pricing is an annoyance, but the unprofessional and hostile behavior of the staff made this one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. This place does not deserve your business. read more

I needed quite a few cupcakes for a Saturday dinner party and I knew the smart thing would be to place my order over the phone early in the morning. I made the mistake of trying to order online; the menu is not current and I tried ordering via my cell phone and had several issues. I gave up and called them instead which worked out better because I then learned that they change their menu often, almost weekly, and if you call their number, they give an automated list of the flavors for the current day. With that being said prepare to pay twice or quadruple the amount of a super mini sized cupcakes. We ordered a unicorn cake and cupcakes; chocolate s'mores, chocolate champagne, vanilla lemonade and chocolate peanut butter cup. I only tried the s'mores cupcake. The design on my niece's cake was hands down amazing. With such beautiful precision it's hard to eat such a cool masterpiece. We booked Lancaster Cupcake to make our wedding cake and it was an amazing decision! They made the entire process incredibly easy. After contacting them they gave us some flavor choices and arranged a free tasting for us to pickup. We were able to taste our selected flavors at home and then we scheduled a call to discuss our favorite. From there it was just a matter of headcount and figuring out how many cakes we needed (my wife and I opted for a separate small cake for us to freeze and enjoy on our anniversary) and Lancaster Cupcakes handled the rest! The cake was delivered on the day of and looked absolutely stunning in all of our photos (and most importantly, it was DELICIOUS).
