I was told they couldn't see my daughter until she had medical clearance from her Dr. It took a long time to get it done through Kaiser. My daughter had broken a tooth I left a voicemail on their emergency line and their landline and never heard back. I called again two days after to follow up and stated I had received medical clearance and they stated the dentist wouldn't see her and was going to refer her to Salida surgery center. Why was he not honest from the beginning or at least called back stating he couldn't see her? She could have been receiving care elsewhere. My other daughter was being treated by him and had a great experience but after this I will not be returning with either child. read more

The first time I took my son, he was 11 months old. Very basic check up, which is to be expected for someone who is just starting to get their teeth in. However, I thought I remembered them telling me that the next time he came.... Six months later..... he would be going back by himself. That rubbed me the wrong way and I rationalized that I must have been mistaken with what I had heard.. surely they wouldn't expect an 17 month old to go by himself to the dentist! Well, my son never made it to his six month check up related to the pandemic. I recently felt more comfortable with taking him to the dentist since the pandemic and I called to make him an appointment. Well, I was told again that my now three year old would have to go back by himself. I explained that this would virtually be his first dentist visit, he has never been anywhere without me and I knew that it was not going to go over well with my son. The receptionist said she would check and then got back on the phone stating that whomever had said they would take him back by himself because he needs to "learn how to be a big boy" (ummmm, he's three!?!!) and then if he was resistant or freaking out, they would let me back. I was hesitant but agreed to the appointment, but the whole thing rubbed me wrong and stuck with me all day. I was not comfortable with my son going back by himself and the fact that they couldn't make an exception for at least his first time. I hated and was traumatized by the dentist when I was little... I don't want that for my son. I understand that it is said that sometimes children behave better when their parents aren't present, however, I KNOW my child. He would have freaked out. Also, I am a registered nurse and I know how to behave to keep my child calm. Side note: the dentist that we did end up going to is in agreement with me that that policy is just weird. I sat right by my son throughout the whole appointment and he did GREAT. read more

I was recommended to the dentist by my main dentist that does not specialize in children's dentistry. When I called I told them about the recommended and that the other dentist stated my some may need IV sedation. I told them we were not interested in this at all and my son has always done really well at the dentist. They said ok come in and we will see what the dentist says. The day of the appointment I was not allowed to sit in with my 7 year old until after his visit and it was time to speak with the dentist about treatment options. Well, there wasn't really any options. My son did need a lot of work done, but because I refused to use IV sedation, the dentist refused to do any work, and recommend an additional dentist. The office also insisted on taking their own x-rays, stating we "just spent $30,000 to upgrade the system", even though we had some done two weeks prior at the other dentist. The dentist then said they would give me a copy for "free". Except they weren't free because my insurance (that I pay for) and I ($67 not covered by insurance) had to pay for those x-rays. AND they were printed copies. The whole situation was very frustrating. I don't doubt that Dr. Bautista does good work, but to refuse to treat someone because they are not comfortable with putting their 7 year old under unnecessary sedation is a little ridiculous. It was a huge waste of time and money. I will note that the young lady working up front and the hygienist that I had a brief interaction with were very nice and kind to my son. read more

This is not a review of the dentist, but of the customer service that I was provided when calling to try and schedule an appointment. I called to ask them for appointment availability, and I was told they didn't have the days I inquired about available. The person on the phone then proceeded to tell me good bye and hang up. They didn't ask me if I would like to schedule a different available day. I called this location because it came highly recommended by our son's pediatrician, but I will be looking for a place with better customer service. read more

Not sure about this dentist. He is ok with feeding kids sugar as long as they brush afterward, with variable timing. Also encourages not rinsing after brushing to maintain flouride levels on the teeth that can't be maintained with even a flouride rinse. He claims that there is no difference between pure sugars versus processed sugars and how our bodies process them. Science has proven differently, but spoke to me after my ex-husband had been there for about 20 minutes before me. Did not speak to my concerns about the nutritional value of juices and finally conceded that "it couldn't hurt" to cut back on sugar. Suggested I send my child to school with a toothbrush with no suggestions as to how to hold my high-risk child accountable for brushing after meals. read more

LISTEN TO ME! I have visited multiple dentist' offices for my children, my daughter 3 and my son 1 and a half yrs old. Most dentist look to maximize what your insurance allows and they take advantage of parents. They show slight sympathy just for the sell. After visiting 4(four) different places, finally landing here with Lance Bautista, this place is the only one to show they ACTUALLY CARE about the child and family. They are very informative as to what needs to be done, the pros and cons and oh yes...economical when it comes to the cost compared to others. They are very good at putting kids at ease. They took good care of my son, and made the scary experience more relaxed and tolerable. Was the fee really expensive, even though I have insurance? Dr Bautista is absolutely wonderful the best dentist ever!! My 9 year old son has been one of his patients since he was 1 1/2 years old. My son has a genetic disorder the enamel on his teeth doesn't harden. Dr Bautista has done a wonderful job on my son teeth. I always get compliments on how beautiful my sons teeth are know one has ever noticed all of his front teeth are caps they look that real. I figured my son would hate this office but he has never cried in fear or anything and this kid has had a lot of work done in his 9 years so that should say something about Dr Bautista abilities to do dental work without pain and or fear. I am highly disappointed with today's dentist visit for my 5 year old. Please don't go to this office solely for the fact that the doctor is so kid-friendly, because if I were rating on that factor alone I would certainly give them 5 stars. Unfortunately my main concern here is the front staff and their shady billing practices. I was really excited after reading some good reviews I decided I would go with Dr. Bautista's office.. mistake. The woman at the front desk explained to me my insurance would pay 0% of an initial consultation visit and I would be 100% on the hook for the $115 "consultation fee" and that 90% of all insurance companies do NOT pay consultation fees. That I already knew was a LIE to get me to pull out my debit card and swipe!! I told the woman I'm not paying that amount and that I'll just call my insurance and they can send me the bill. She then quickly said she would change the charge to an "exam fee" which was less ($78) and we will "call it even" ??? Sounded shady but I paid the rest of the out of pocket expenses and left... And did NOT schedule a future appointment which would have cost me OVER $2,500 (out of pocket) to have my son knocked out on anesthesia and CAVITIES filled. CRAZY!! Anyway, so I received a call from that same lady at the front desk just 5 minutes later explaining that she called my insurance and now all of a sudden it looks like my insurance WILL pay for 70% of consultation fees and she would be changing the charge back to the original amount of $115 (AFTER we agreed on a lower amount and I PAID!!) and I will be billed the remaining amount. I told her good luck getting one more dollar from me and I hung up the phone and called my insurance to see if they can really get away with this. The lady from the insurance laughed so hard when I told her what had happened and if I receive a bill to just dispute it with the insurance and they should take care of it. Long story short, these people are out to suck all of your hard-earned dollars out of your pockets and you're really better off going somewhere else. They want YOUR money, not the insurance's because they get it very quickly right out of your bank account. Stay away!! read more

I don't review much here on Yelp but after such a wonderful experience here I must! My toddler son just had work done here and I couldn't be more pleased. As a mother the thought of your baby being under anesthesia is far from comforting. After meeting Dr. Bautista my worries were eased. He is not only a good dentist but a great person. He was able to save my toddlers teeth which was a miracle. He had some tooth decay from night nursing and I thought there was no hope. I cannot recommend Dr. Bautista enough. The office is geared towards kids only which makes visiting there a highlight for the kids :) Bring your kids here for sure! read more

Dr. Bautista is amazing! I had a VERY bad experience with another dentist who wanted to tie my 1 year old down and drill on her front tooth for what he thought was a cavity. After looking for a second opinion I ended up in Dr. Bautista's office. With a quick look at her tooth and a picture with a tiny camera, we found out that if I had let the other dentist drill her tooth it would have caused lots of pain and long term damage. Because Dr. Bautista took time with us and provided individualized care my daughter still has her front tooth. We have been seeing Dr. Bautista for over 6 years now and have never EVER looked for another pediatric dentist (even when my insurance didn't cover him). My daughter loves him and his office so much that she is convinced that she wants to be a dentist when she grows up. Its not often that a kids asks to go to the dentist (which mine does monthly). It is because of Dr. Bautista that my daughter has an appreciation of good oral habits and does not fear the dentist. read more

I will start off saying that I like the dentist , very friendly and he made my kids feel comfortable . Unfortunately I will not be going back due to how short and rude the staff member was on the phone . I missed my children's appt. I'm usually pretty good but things happen , anyways I didn't get a reminder which would have came in handy. Anyways I called and left a message to reschedule when I realized I had missed the appt. a week later they called me back and left me a message saying to call and reschedule , I literally called back within minutes of getting the message . And the lady had no desire to reschedule , she mumbled on the phone about being closed for remodeling and they will send me a post card and then just brushed me off and ended the call . So I called back asking how long for remodeling , she couldn't give me an exact date just that it was this week , I was like oh okay , so you still can't schedule a future appt . And she says no , that I would get a post card , so I say just forget it , I will go somewhere else and she hangs up . She was rude , impatient and if I was the doc there , she would be fired . She just lost the doc three patients . They made a large amount of money from me and my insurance on past procedures , I miss one appt and get treated like that . What a joke ! read more

I have boy/girl twins and they are 13 years old, they have been going to Dr. Bautista's Pediatric Dentistry for 10 years! I was so nervous bringing my little 3 year olds to the dentist because I didn't know how they were going to react or how I was going to feel once we got there. I just have to say that I felt comfortable from the moment I walked in the door.. they have a train table set up and a very kid friendly waiting room. A flat screen tv is constantly playing kids movies which is great! We never have to wait long before the kids get called back and the front/back office staff is wonderful! Miranda has always been so helpful and courteous and always makes sure all of our questions are answered and she always greets us with a smile and asks how we are doing. She has since moved to the back office and there is another friendly face up front now and she is just as friendly and helpful! As far as Dr. Bautista, he is one of a kind! He has such a great personality and myself and my kids absolutely love him! He is so knowledgeable in every aspect of pediatric dentistry and has helped me find ways to make sure my kids are taking care of their teeth and when he does find a trouble spot he monitors it closely and does everything he can to make sure it doesn't progress. But when the kids have needed a filling, he is ever so gentle and patient in working with them and even after a filling, the kids leave with a smile on their face because they have never had a bad experience at Dr. Bautista's office! After their cleaning or treatment, he lets them get a balloon and they get to choose a toy from the toy chest! And of course they get a bag of goodies with a toothbrush and floss and some other goodies. I really don't why anyone would have a bad thing to say about this practice. Like I said we have been coming here for 10 years and never had a bad experience and I have referred several friends and family here! read more
