Love a good Dive Bar and it doesn't get quite as divey meets causal gem as Lancers on Park. Stroll in off Adams Avenue or Park Blvd, entrances/exits on both. It's a former cash only bar and has been forever... Until 2025! They take card or cash now... Even Apple Pay. Possible Google and/or Samsung also. Still with a cool Jukebox. And a couple of pool tables. Places to sit and enjoy a mid afternoon, happy hour or end of the night drink. Used to stop in here with the old crew after dinner, during San Diego Pride in the summer and just for fun. Strolling by at 10am after coffee had me extra nostalgic to see the doors open and all the places I sat and the tables I've enjoyed billiards at. Definitely see myself doing that again this year. I will say that I actually really ended up liking this place. The staff was very nice. I would say really good drinking prices. They have two pool tables in the back. Was in here recently and loved the aesthetic. It's an amazing local dive. Dark, with carpet and a juke box that stays on. Cheap pool tables that work, and a dart board that always seems to be in use. Everything was appropriately priced and didn't break the bank. We had 9 tequila shots and were drowning in Sprite refills which was nice because we chose to obey our thirst. The bartenders were attentive and kind, which was respectable cause there was a woman in there who would not stop asking about everyone's political agenda. The Security guards were incredibly nice and checked my ID then gave me a little forehead kiss. They even held my knife for me up front and gave it back to me before leaving. On my first visit there, I was talking with my friend at the bar. Out of nowhere, the female bartender tells me and my buddy that we're outta there. I asked her why. She said, "I can hear everything you're saying." I was simply talking with my friend. We weren't boisterous or being out-of-line in any way She was incredibly rude and couldn't give a rational reason for kicking us out. Unbelievable! I've never been kicked out of a bar in my 38 years of bar hopping. I've never been kicked out of any kind of place. The only reason I can think of for her hostility is that I was an unfamiliar face in her establishment. I hope it wasn't because I happened to have the darkest skin of all the patrons on this particular Sunday night. As I was leaving, I told the male bartender, who was watching the interaction from the sidelines, that his coworker kicked us out. He said that she makes the calls in the place and we had to leave. He was cool and level-headed, unlike the lady who did not give us a reason for booting us. The guy said that we could come back tomorrow. They allow dogs inside as well, as long as they are well behaved which was a selling point for us since we had a pup with us. They are cash only but there is an ATM inside. Best dive bar in San Diego if you're looking for a real dive bar. Its cash only but the ATM fee is only $1.25 not too bad. Two pool tables available at $0.50 a game which is totally reasonable. I'm not a dive bar gal, but my boyfriend is and every time we come here it's such a good experience. The mostly women staff behind the bar are great and even for a dark dive, I have to give this place a glowing 5 stars. They have an incredible Bloody Mary which I watched them make from scratch with their own mix. Last time I ordered a well gin and tonic with extra lime the bartender decorated the rim of my glass with 5 limes... what more do you want? Hoping the owner of this establishment sees this: Last night, New Year's Eve, me and my mother walked into lancers for our first drink. We ordered champagne splits for us and our friends. The bar tender who served them could barely keep her words straight as she was slurring every other word from being clearly too intoxicated to do her job. This bartender was light skinned, maybe mid 40's, brown hair, very very drunk. The fun part: This very intoxicated bartender charged me for the drinks, $26 or so. I had to get cash out from the atm. When returning I asked her if I could start a tab since we would be ordering many drinks. She responded by calling me and my mom "stupid looking" and "not funny" as she took my money and gave me change. Stunned I asked her what the deal was and she proceeded to "86" me and my mom, for literally no reason at all besides that she was too drunk to talk. She proceeded to take our drinks from us that we already drank from, then gave us two $20 bills for our drinks. Then walked away, then came back with another $17, not sure why, gave it to me and then told us to "get the fuck out". Please realize, this very intoxicated bar tender gave us $57 for no reason and took the drinks we paid for, and completely disrespected me and my mother. Your bar literally lost money on this transaction. As well, we had likely intended to spend $2-$300 at your establishment - but since I was forced to leave; so did the 8 people who were there with me. This experience was a nightmare and your very intoxicated bar tender should not be representing what is otherwise a very cool bar. 5 star bar made to shit by a rude and very drunk bar tender. read more

Super solid chill dive bar. It's the bar Nunu's used to be. Lots of dark wood and no windows. They have AC so summer afternoon day drinking is perfect. Good bartenders and generous pours. Ok selection of bottle beers - no draft beer here. Ok crowd - pretty much drama-free. Nice padded stools and elbow rests to keep you comfy on the extended bender. Lancers would be perfect except for 2 probs: 1) Cash only. C'mon, it's 2019. Modernize. But ya know- it's about the owner jamming you up for ATM fees. I don't play dat- so the last couple times I have run out of cash here - I wasn't gonna pad someone's wallet an extra $3 - so I went home.
