These guys are EXCELLENT!!! My last lawn care place started doing shoddy work after seven years. We let them go and tried Handyman Lawns. Our back and front yards were in bad shape from our previous lawn service. Handyman Lawns made them look better than they had in years! They cut the front hedges--and same thing. Those hedges have never looked better. One of front bed looked horrible because of the big snowstorm. It also killed on of our young trees. Tyce came out and made some wonderful plant suggestions. His crew came out the following Monday and gave that bed a makeover. It looks incredible! We absolutely love it! They replaced the dead tree with a pretty crepe myrtle that's already a nice size and looks great. The whole yard looks brand new! It hasn't looked this good since we moved here. The lawn service is great. They mowed and cleaned up like almost every other lawn service out there can do. Where things went south was the communication. He gave me a quote of $35 for every two week mowing. It was suppose to be every Thursday. They mowed that first time, which was on time and looked perfect. Second time wasn't on Thursday, I assumed it was due to weather. They showed up on Saturday without informing me, woke us up on one of our few days to sleep in. Then I let them know after no one had shown up for the third mowing that I would be going with a new lawn care service. Now invoicing, after I let him know I would not be doing another month he asked for an email to send a final bill. I didn't see the original invoice and two weeks later he texted to ask me to pay saying I was two months past due! I let him know I didn't get it so he resent an invoice, then I saw he was charging me $45 per mowing. When I asked he said that's what's on my website and I don't remember quoting you different. Paid the invoice and let him know I'd leave a review and he got upset as you can see in the screenshot. If I could give minus stars I would. Unfortunately, I contracted Tyce and his team from Handyman Lawns to do quite a bit of work at my home including the installation of a stone fire pit area, sod, a backyard irrigation system and redo some pavers in our current walkway. The job started on time but they seemed to be in a rush to get it done and most certainly to get paid! They didn't clean up their scrap either! Fire pit area/stone work: The stone work for the flower bed areas and fire pit boarders was so terrible as nothing was level, square and the grout wasn't evenly spaced (it looked like a 5 year old did it vs someone claiming to be professional). We complained that the fire pit wasn't level and all the grout lines lined up vs a professional brick pattern. They tried to build the fire pit twice and then tore it down, claiming that they would redo it again. It's be over 2 weeks with no word that they would come back. So I asked to stop the work and I have now hired someone to redo all of it and he told me building a fire pit just out of limestone was dangerous as limestone can explode if it gets hot! The new contractor realigned and trued up the boarders correctly and built the fire pit on a concrete base for stability with firebrick. You can see in the photos that there is only limestone "bricks" with no fire brick in between and that it was being built without a proper foundation which left it un-level and not truly round. You can also see the unevenness of the fire pit area boarders and grout work. They didn't know what they were doing. Sod: They didn't comb the area or use more than a centimeter of compost/top soil for laying sod. They also didn't roll the sod so my yard is full of dips and holes. A proper landscaper would have combed the area prior to sod installation and rolled it flat after laying it but since there was so little compost (for Tyce to save money) this wasn't feasible! Irrigation system: Trying to save money for himself, Tyce installed a 1 loop irrigation system for the back yard. He chose not to install bubblers at our fruit trees (per original plan) without consulting us - it would have required more effort, money and another loop. Because it was a 1 loop system, it required more pressure to push the water through 7 sprinklers. He finished the system on a Friday together with laying sod and left us with high pressure (more than 150 psi) on both the irrigation system and the house for the weekend. I left messages for him to call but he didn't call or come to adjust the pressure until the following week. I was left trying to throttle the pressure and flow with a 90 degree block valve until he came and adjusted it. I hired a plumber to install a pressure regulating valve. The plumber told me I was lucky not to have blown a pipe, the dish washer or washing machine as normal pressure for home appliances and lines shouldn't be over 75 psi! Again, They didn't know what they were doing! Paver walkway: We asked to redo the paver walkway as it didn't have a weed barrier. The walkway consisted of 2 x 4 foot pavers surrounded by pebble stones. During the job we asked to change the stone to black star rock vs pebble stone. The pavers where not true when they reinstalled them as you can see in the photos. Ever the consummate professional, Tyce wouldn't return calls or texts even though we were told he would. No feedback could be given related to poor quality and they threatened to put a lien on us if we didn't pay them for their shabby workmanship. I can only say stay away! read more

We built a house in Cedar Park in 2017 and it came with its share of yard issues we weren't prepared for, including a section we didn't realize wouldn't be sodded for us at all. I'd called around for some time to research local companies that could suggest paths forward. I was really excited when we found Tyce and team bc for one, he was patient. Really patient. And he took the time to walk the entire property several times and map out our yard, our existing layout and potential upgrades, including pricing. And let me tell you his pricing wasn't just slightly better. It was LEAPS AND BOUNDS better. (One example is when we finally extended the sod, instead of extending the irrigation for thousands of dollars, he recalibrated our existing system and added in gold course heads to accomplish the same end goal for a fraction of the price). He gave me his personal line, his business line and told me to reach out any time to ask questions. Since we've begun, he's done 2 major projects for us each with individual requirements and installs, each done with precision and the utmost care and we intend on using them for many more. And since we've had our sod extended we also decided to start using them for our bi-weekly lawn servicing and they are in-n-out with a quality job each time. Unreliable I signed up with Tyce and his crew back in January. At first, things seemed good and he was responsive. Then it became obvious that he had overstretched himself. I had to repeatedly ask him for over three weeks when he would arrive to mow my lawn. Several times, he would say he would show up and just not show up. No text to say when he would reschedule. I would have to call him and text him to get an answer. He also butchered my lawn. When my lawn started, there was sod and the grass was green. He put so much manure on the yard to level out the yard that it killed off the grass. There are now bald spots all over the yard with no growth at all into them because Tyce killed off the grass by compacting the manure too tightly. As a result, I have to start the expensive process of reseeding and planting new sod to make up for his shoddy work. Also, the yard is now full of weeds despite me asking repeatedly for him to check the yard for necessary upkeep. The final kicker was that despite numerous times asking for an invoice, he did not provide an invoice. Also, his website says you get billed and can pay by credit card. Instead, his people show up at my house and demand cash payment. The first time, he made an excuse that he had problems with his credit card processing account and that would be fixed shortly. Two months later, his crew shows up to mow my yard and asks for cash again! Sorry, but it doesn't take two months to fix that issue. I don't carry cash often anymore and it is a major inconvenience to keep going to the atm because Tyce wants to save on credit card processing bills. Sorry, but that is the cost of doing business. All in all, I felt that I was at his convenience and he wasn't providing me with the service I had asked for and was willing to pay. I am now with another company that costs more, but is more reliable. Avoid this service if you want haphazard work and constant rescheduling without any notice. read more

Tyce was hired to clean out vines and weeds out of my backyard. Bf the job, he walked the property with my gf. He was instructed to not touch any of the trees. I already have a tree guy, who does a great job. I have multiple crews working in and around my home, Tyce is the absolute worst out of any one I've hired. What does Tyce do? Cuts down about 10 trees. When my gf confronted him about it, he yelled at her and threaten her. Tyce, I hope you're reading this. Be very, very happy I wasn't home. This guy destroyed my back yard, left all his trash, was rude and beyond unprofessional. I had to hire another guy to clean up his mess. I've already contacted the Better Business Bureau. Buyer Beware - We recently researched several companies to mow our lawn in Lago Vista and found the great reviews for Handyman Lawns. I booked over a week in advance based on the pricing on the website that showed it started at $45. When I booked, I fully understood that the cost could be more than $45 but given the relatively small size of our lawn and the stellar Yelp reviews, I would give them a shot. I also reached out directly by phone (was directed to the online portal) and by email with questions but received no response. This morning (the morning of my scheduled service) I receiced a text from someone with Handyman (did not identify themselves) saying that given the distance to my home, pricing would start at $125. After several back and forths where this person basically accused me of lying about not receiving a response, she suggested that I connect with the owner. He called me directly and tried to explain that they do their scheduling the night before and so only realized the distance to my home then and notified me this morning. I tried to see if we could come to an agreement at the higher price point with some additional details about my lawn but the owner was not receptive, instead he continually talked over me and tried to explain the cost profile of his business. At one point, he started explaining his costs in a way that made it sound like even though the price point started at $125 for my home, even the easiest lawn mowing would result in a $300 bill. Given that I am actually the customer here, I did not appreciate being talked down to or continually interrupted. Ultimately it seemed like he was more interested in being heard/understood than understanding my perspective which is interesting because he's the one who called me. We decided to take our business elsewhere given the terrible customer service demonstrated by the owner and the person who texted me. I completely understand that Lago might not be accessible to all companies or that they might have to charge a premium for the distance traveled. What I can't understand is terrible customer service and late notification for such extreme changes in pricing. I guess I should be grateful that they notified me beforehand rather than just sending me a bill afterward. read more

I cannot emphasize enough how awesome Tyce and Handyman Lawns is. Not only is their work impeccable but their character and professionalism is second to none. Not only did they start much sooner than we had anticipated, they were meticulous in making sure we had the best materials. When a batch of sod they had seemed to be less than stellar, they refused to install it and instead sought out the highest quality sod. I asked if they could go to the property to provide a quote and he said "sure, we can go in a few hours". When I didn't hear anything for four days I reached out again and he said he had an emergency and was unable to come out then out but would come that evening. Two days later, no response so I sent another follow up email. It's been a week and still no response. It's a wonder where all of these glowing reviews are coming from. We scheduled an appointment but no one showed up. When we contacted them about it they pushed back the appointment by 4-5 hours and directed us to their website that says that an appointment is "not a guarantee of exact arrival time". However, no one arrived at all. When we called back to find out what was going on, we couldn't get an answer or a response. Finally a text was answered. The appointment was rescheduled for the following week. No one showed up at the 2nd appointment. No one called. No one has answered. Two days of sitting around, not at my job, frivolously waiting for someone to do theirs. The scheduling policy that essentially states that an appointment is not an appointment, and the inability of the company to correspond effectively, denotes a lack of care and professionalism. The other reviews I read were positive. I wish they'd given me the chance at a more favorable appraisal. However, they wasted a great deal of my time. read more

I called with one issue that i knew about and ended up taking care of several that were "on the list" . They were amazing to work with. Listened to what i was saying and some of the things i wasnt saying as well. you know those moments when you know what you dont want but dont know what you do....
