I have been going to Dr. Olando Hanson since 2014, and I have been with this dental office for over 30 years -- and there's a reason I've stayed. Dr. Hanson is calm, friendly, and truly excellent. His demeanor immediately puts you at ease, and he explains everything in a reassuring, thoughtful way. The office staff is just as wonderful. Debbie deserves special mention -- she is incredibly warm and kind. Her friendly greeting and efficiency make every visit feel welcoming and stress-free. I went to Landmark Dental today for the first time as I wanted a second opinion on redoing a crown buildup on a front tooth that had stained over the years. Walking into the office, I was a bit nervous after dealing with the receptionist, Debbie. She was more gruff than I was expecting and seemed to be quite snarky for 8:30 in the morning. Maybe she just needed some more coffee but when I asked her what the office email was, she just told me to grab a business card which rubbed me the wrong way. Little odd but not end of the world. I was so fortunate to see Dr. Hanson. He took one look at my problem tooth and told me he could do a quick polish and send me on my merry way without charging me much of anything . Long story short, the build up wasn't that built up and he needed to add some more to make it flush with my tooth. Before proceeding, he then told me upfront how much it was going to cost. I expected to be charged an arm and a leg as Crystal City Dental Arts Center quoted me nearly $2K to resolve my issue. You know how much it all cost? $30!!! That's it! (Disclaimer: I have Dominion National insurance but still!) Not only did I get it done cheaper than I was expecting, I absolutely love the result. Then, to top it off, I was due for a cleaning and they didn't have an appt after me so they just did it on the spot. Amazing!! My tooth looks SO much better! I immediately snapped some pics after I left the office and sent to my family. Dr Hanson is nothing short of a perfectionist and that's what you want in a dentist! Rude liars as receptionists they make your appointment & cancel without notifying very frustrating ! They refuse to give you an appointment card. They say they don't have any to give you, because they don't want proof of the date & time they scheduled you. its a shame because I never had a problem with them when I first came to them but now all of a sudden they are behaving this way! Going to the dentist is never fun. And this dentistry doesn't help to change that. First and foremost, they don't really take patient confidentiality very seriously. The front desk staff was discussing names, payments, etc. about other patients while I was in the waiting room with the window open. Further, their exam room(s) aren't private. There are no doors, or partitions. From my exam chair I was able to read the name and see the X-rays of the patient in the chair next to me. On to my exam. The dentist was nice, but at first told me I had no cavities based on reading X-rays, then once she looked in my mouth she said I had three. Then based on my X-ray said I need a root canal, and said I needed all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled. Although I had a cracked tooth they weren't going to fix it that day, and NOW I'm happy about that! They presented me with the cost analysis of what my treatment would be and since I needed a crown before I entered the office I was sure to know what I should pay for it. It was inflated on their sheet by $450. $450 more than my plan said I should pay. I questioned it and was told "Its ADA codes," now, I'm a former medical biller -- I know the game they were playing. They purposely selected codes that weren't covered by my plan to charge more. They claimed there was no code for a full porcelin crown, yet.. I found the code.. and the second opinion dentist I went to found it too. They projected almost $3,000 for my treatment. I took my X-rays, got a second opinion and I just returned from that visit. No root canal.. just a crown. They recommended 3 wisdom teeth out, full mouth cleaning etc.. grand total: $1,300 (all the prices MATCHED my plan prices) and the office was private. I normally don't take the time to write down a review about a place . However because I work in dental office I know how patients should be treat it . I normally have my dental exam done by Dr. Handsome , he has been nothing but great a dentist, he has taken the time to explain everything to me everytime I go for my dental routine. However, today I had really bad dental visit with Dr Lee . I had email the landmark dental office some X-rays I had taken from my job because My orthodontics had a concern about my gums who she recommended me to mention it to my dentist. Dr. Lee did not even take the time to look at the X-rays, I mentioned to him about the concern the orthodontist had about my gums . His answer was nothing but "well good thing is that you don't have cavities." "have a good day you should talk to your orthodontist about it" . I'm not sure if he was having a busy day , but I felt like he didn't take the time to see whats going on , his exam was no longer than few seconds. Did even ask me if I wanted glasses for the light he just put the chair down and looked and that was it . Normally Dr. Handsome even checks under my tongue and the back my mouth. I pay 50$ for exam that I could done myself at home. read more

I went to this place because I'd just gotten a root canal and I needed to get a crown. My first impression wasn't a good one. I wasn't getting a helpful vibe from the front desk. I did however like Dr. Hanson. He was very thorough and told me exactly what he was doing. He also took a second to inform me that my previous dentist didn't do a good job at cleaning (that's a whole other story) my teeth because he found some unsightly things stuck that should have been removed during a deep cleaning. That aside, disregard the reception and ask for Dr. Hanson. My four stars are for him. read more

Being new to the area we didn't know where to turn and where to go for good dentistry work. Our prayers were answered at Landmark Dentistry because they're an awesome dentistry. Dr. Orlando Hanson is a world-renowned expert at taking care of his patients. My 9 month pregnant wife had to come here because another dentist screwed up her teeth and he is fixing it all. A gentle and caring dentist who is super careful and very honest. Dr. Hanson is a man who takes pride in his work. He is super careful and always triple checking his work as someone who takes pride in what they do. Definitely recommend this practice and Dr. Hanson. Staff was friendly and professional. I had a couple of visits for cleaning. I had no cavities but it ended up costing me triple what I used to pay. The cleaning quality is average, and they keep selling more services that I don't need. The accounting process is very cumbersome if you and your husband both are customers. They can't separate the accounts! The receptionists are just down right rude. They don't know what customer experience mean and basically their attitude is take it or leave it. With so many good dentists around, I am not going there anymore. read more

I went to the office for a filling with Dr. Solemaninejad. During the visit he noticed three other fillings that needed to be replaced. I was reluctant to have the additional fillings done because I wasn't expecting the extra cost. The dentist made reasonable accommodations so I could afford this and at the same time made sure I was comfortable during the procedure. From the time I arrived until the end of my visit the staff was very nice and professional! I received excellent customer service and highly recommend Dr. Solemaninejad and his staff. Dr. Lee is very informative, patient, gentle, and makes sure you're comfortable every step of the way during appointments. His team exceeds in providing a comfortable experience for all ages. Dr. Lee doesn't make you feel rushed or uncertain about any of the treatment and care being provided. This is the first dentist office that doesn't make me feel reluctant on the way to every visit. I actually look forward to the treatment, because I know my pearly whites are in the right hands. My review is about Dr. Olando Hanson, he practices out of Landmark Dental in Alexandria, which is where I seen him and also Franklin Dental in Herndon, VA. I saw the main dentists, Dr. Lee who referred me to Dr. Hanson, he explained to me what needed to be done and I explained to him how I have had many bad experiences with dentists, one pulling my tmj joint out of place. He assured me that everything would be good and that he would make sure of it and he wasn't most dentists. He started me on an antibiotic on Monday, March 23 and I went back on Friday, March 27 to have my bottom second left molar removed. He knew I had problems with my jaw but insisted I didn't need a bite block and he used his fingers to try to hold my jaw still. He took the tooth out and sent me home with pain meds and more antibiotics. I started having worsening pain the next day so I left a message with the office manager and they had me come in the following Monday, March 30th. Dr. Hanson looked at the extraction site and said it was infected, mind you I had been on antibiotics almost a week before the extraction and even after. I asked him was he sure it wasn't dry socket because the pain was getting worse by the day. He flushed out the socket and gave me a stronger antibiotic and sent me home without doing anything else to the site. I hadn't eaten anything but soup, apple sauce and pudding for the past three days so no food particles could have gotten in the socket. He didn't take additional xrays or anything. I was in pain once again from Monday, March 30 to Wednesday April 1 when I called back again. The office manager gave him the message and he called me and told me that my immune system must be weak and kinda laughed....very unprofessional. He refused to admit that he misdiagnosed me and just wanted to send me off to another dentists...recommended that I see an oral surgeon. Didn't ask me to come back in for X-rays when he was the one that pulled the tooth out and just wanted to add antibiotics on top of each other causing more issues. Please think twice before trusting him to do any dental work for you....he does not stand behind his work...if an issue arises..,he will pawn you off onto someone else hoping that they can correct his problem that he caused. He is one of the reasons why I hate going to the dentists. You go for one problem and leave with an even worse one and in even more pain and he didn't even take the time to correct the issue. I will be following up with an attorney after seeing an oral surgeon to correct what he did. read more

I booked an appointment by calling the office. I was able to send my forms and dental x-rays over email. I liked they were able to see me within 2 weeks. The front office receptionist was friendly. The dental assistants could've made me feel more comfortable by introducing themselves. Dr. Do was nice and friendly during my visit. The dental assistant who flossed and cleaned my teeth seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. Their website could give me a better impression if they updated it with information and pictures of the doctors and the office. read more

I booked this appointment on ZocDoc, and it was all-around terrible. After the appointment, I wrote a review on ZocDoc, but after my latest experience, I feel the need to share my opinion more broadly. First of all, the front office smelled like a combination of smoke and cat urine. I had to wait there for 30 minutes only to learn from the appointment screen up in the back that I was the first appointment, so there was no excuse for such a delay. After I'd already had to wait, which was a problem because I was flying out that day, I was told I'd have to receive x rays in order to get my cleaning. There was no mention of this when I booked my appointment, and I really didn't have time due to my wait. I tried to tell the staff, to which they responded that it shouldn't be a big deal because it wouldn't cost extra and my insurance would cover it. I respectfully still tried to decline, and they still forced the x rays on me in order to have my cleaning. This practice is about money not patient care, comfort or convenience. I only booked here because my regular dentist was out of town for three weeks, but I will never return and highly recommend against this practice. When I just called to have my digital x rays emailed to my regular dentist, they said it would cost me $15 because of the time it takes them. Absurd. Again, only about making money and not the customer. read more
