Not the friendliest market anymore, like before. The kitchen/deli is hardly wearing gloves, does not have a SERV safe certificate in view.

First time going to this store despite that I live in Old Orchard Beach, less than 2 miles from the store. First thing I noticed, the store was really clean. Second thing I noticed is that their produce looks a LOT better than at the Hannaford in Saco. Those people will throw anything in produce, moldy or not. At this store, the fruit looked delicious, clean, no bruises, wasn't old. I will be doing my produce shopping here from now on. I was expecting to pay more for the 3 items I picked up, but 2 of the items were less than what I would pay at Hannaford, and one item was the same price. Very good first impression, Landry's. I will definitely be using the store, often. read more

I lived in and around OOB for 15 years. I knew the original owner Mr. Landry and would stop by at least once a week. Buy a few items and chat if he wasn't busy. I would make sure to stop by on Veterans Day, as Mr. Landry would give out free muffins and coffee for veterans. Unfortunately Mr. Landry died suddenly in 2024. His son Jake took over the store. In 24 & 25 I lived a block away from the store and did most of my shopping there. One day I was making dill pickles at home and picked up a pack of fresh dill at the store for $2.17, I didn't save the receipt. Who does for such a small amount. When I opened the dill package, only the top one was useable. All the others had turned black and were rotting. The next day I went to Jake Landry and told him about the bad product. He frowned at me and said, what do you want me to do about it? I replied, Oh, just let me get another. I don't want any money back. Then he states, well, where is your recipe? I can't give you anything without it. I said I didn't keep it, but the cashier over there checked me out.she can confirm it because we talked about me making pickles, she remembers. By now Jake was getting annoyed with me because he got loud and said, I don't care what she remembers. No receipt, no compensation. And walked away from me. So, there you go. A long time local shopper meant nothing to this guy. Typical for a kid that gets handed the keys to a long established business. read more

Just a very short drive from the pier.. i wish I realized this little market existed prior to this year!! Everything you could need from bakery to frozen. Prices were reasonable. Seems to be a hannaford brand as they carry hannaford branded items for private label. Small selection of precooked salads , wings etc. Also has a small bakery section. Found everything we needed and this will transform how we pack and prepare for our future OOB vacations!! Shop and support local. read more

I'm a local who's shopped at Landry's twice a week for years. I realize it's busy with the tourists and all but: things have gone downhill lately. Few workers around to help, out of many items (guy said the truck was late). I went in for three items; iceberg lettuce, croutons and a chunk of turkey from the deli. no iceberg lettuce no croutons of any flavor the deli: seemingly empty. there were three kids there. I waited behind some nice lady. She tired of the long wait and said "can I get some help". Finally one kid came over and said "do you need help". she said " that's why I'm standing here.". I'm assuming the kids were probably not allowed to use the slicer. No one came over to help so I left this poor lady (without any turkey). I impulsed and bought a couple of items. The checkout lanes were long and slow. I watched one guy in line who was so frustrated with his lack of movement that he just left his cart where it was and exited the store. It was obvious that the checkout ladies were grumpy and lacked any semblance of customer service. Anyway, I'll be back after the tourist season is over. Hopefully, it will again be a nice market with full shelves and friendly people. If not, I'll just drive to Route 1 to the other Hannafords. Thank you. read more

Ever since their remodel a few years ago transitioning from Radley's to Landry's Shop 'N Save all I can say is it's a pleasure to shop there. The store is always immaculate & the service can't be beat. My one complaint is that they are not stocking "Taste of Maine" natural casing "white" hot dogs. I stand corrected, taste of Maine hotdogs are in stock for the summer!! read more

Friendly, helpful workers and great store-prepared meals and snacks. This little grocery store has everything you need from pizza and sandwiches to grocery items. Our favorite is their steak and cheese subs and their soup and bread pudding. We LOVE Landry's. read more

This is a small but mighty grocery store just outside of the main drag of OOB. It's close, it had a parking lot, a nice wine and cheese selection, and a rather wide variety of household staples you may need on any regular shopping trip. They have a lot of Hannaford brands, which I am familiar with from shopping at the Portland store. The Nature's Place brand reminds me of the generic prescription drugs, they are just as good as the more expensive brand and they do the trick. I was impressed, overall, with the selection for the size of this store. Don't be afraid to run in for a fridge refill while on vacation or extended winter stay! read more

Just pains me to write this...as been shopping here for years.......but Landrys IS NOT taking this virus seriously..... Some stock people wearing NO masks....allowing customers in with NO masks....checkout lady at end register with cheap face shield....NO MASK....guy at other end....mask.....but nose totally exposed (ummmm.....the nose holds most of the virus.....that's why tests are conducted there).....who then proceeds to turn his head....,and cough directly on my groceries on the carousel) Unless you want to risk dying for convenience ....may I suggest Shaws in Biddeford where they are on top of things read more

Too bad...... I live around the corner and will drive to Shaw's in Saco for my food. Their bakery and "fresh" foods are obviously aged rejects from their Saco Hannafords...... stale fresh off the shelves. They make a solid loaded steak and cheese sandwich, I was pleasantly surprised how good it was and the large is huge! Decent beer selection and reasonable grocery prices overall. We'll be back during our week in OOB! read more

The following is a letter I wrote to Mr Landry. I want to be clear the cashiers and the workers there are lovely. My problem is exclusively with this manager. Dear Mr. Landry, I am writing to you as principal owner and principal shareholder of Landry's shop and save. I got your name from the Secretary of State of Maine. I am writing you today to tell you about a very upsetting and disappointing experience I had this morning at Landry's on May 6, 2021. My husband and I have been Scarborough residents for 12 years and we moved to Pine Point about five years ago. Since moving to Pine Point we use Landry's as our supermarket, and my husband goes there every day after work to get his newspaper and milk or any essentials that we need. Recently, my debit card was compromised so I've been using checks to pay for things while I wait for my new debit card. Today I popped into Landry's to get some essentials in a rush because getting things done is a challenge due to the pandemic and I have been a mom at home teaching children and also working. My prior experience with using a check was at the Hannaford in Scarborough where I give them the check and it went through their machine and we are on our way, similarly I had the same experience in Target. I presented the check to your cashier today, the bank is local " xxxxxxx" along with my passport card which is as you know a federally issued identification card. Sadly, my license expired during the pandemic and I haven't been able to go for a vision test, because I am that old now! After much back and forth, I was finally told I could not purchase my 88.00 dollars worth of groceries in my basket. The reason, I was told, was because I was from New Jersey and my name didn't match up. You see I am originally from New Jersey and anyone reading a passport or passport card would know that where you were born is listed. Additionally, the manager didn't see that my name Violette was also on that card along with my middle name which is my maiden name. I tried to explain that I'm a Maine resident and a local community member who very frequently shops at Landry's. It was apparent from the beginning that the manager was not listening to anything I was saying , that I was not going to be able to purchase my groceries. I was quite frustrated and upset because of the wall that was quickly put up by the manager, and frankly, I really needed those groceries today. I admit I did not use a calm tone of voice, because I felt very betrayed and to be honest like I was some criminal from out of town trying to pull something. Now that I've explained to you what happened, I'm wondering why your manager could not use common sense in making business decisions? Additionally, this man was rigid, intimidating and did not even use the correct information in his determination. My family tries to use local as much as possible, and it was obvious that I was a local community member. I will be sure to express my dissatisfaction with this incident to my community members, and I surely will not be using Landry's anymore. This may not be significant to you and perhaps you rely on your people from away to make the bulk of your money, but I thought you should know. Finally, the manager refused to give me any sort of information where I could express my dissatisfaction, and he told me that I have his name and that's where I can complain. Landry's Shop 'N Save is a miniature Hannaford (actually part of the Hannaford chain.) It is convenient in Old Orchard Beach and they stock a nice selection of grocery items and have a good variety of specialty cheeses. They are in line with big-chain supermarket pricing but are small enough to be your friendly, local neighborhood grocer. Come in a few times and the friendly staff recognizes you. The manager even placed a special order for us. (They didn't have Magnum Double Raspberry bars, so we asked. He ordered it and reserved a case, just for us. Yum!) They also stock fresh produce and, for those interested, a nice selection of beers and wine. read more

Nice little place, recently expanded so not as little. Reasonable prices. Good for locals who need to get a few things and for the people from away who need groceries for their visit. They won't hose you on the price but it isn't as cheap as a huge store. Produce is kept fresh and the meats are always great. read more

I always enjoy this little market except tonight as an employee was flying the f bomb because she was upset she had to work because someone called out. As a retired hospital employee...that happens a lot but I never took it out on a patient. This employee was so nasty to my husband and I. I am reluctant to go there now as this young woman created an atmosphere of negativity and white trash to an otherwise convenient little grocery store. Advise..hire some old townies or retired folks or positive kids. read more

Landrys was once Radleys. I have to admit I love the recent expansion which allows them to carry far more options in almost every grocery item on offer. The long awaited reconstruction of this store has made it invaluable in a town where the next comparable option as far as grocery shopping is concerned, is in Saco. read more

The worst place. I should have taked pics....poor stock, many empty shelves, coolers don't even have working lights. Store front has junk in windows, register piled with various stock, steaks on sale this week but yup NONE in the tiny meet case. Recommend you go to nearby Hannafords in saco. read more

While this supermarket may be small, it has a little of everything. My husband and I shopped here while camping at Paradise Park and Resort. The place is clean and the staff were friendly. The supermarket has everything from deli food to snacks to booze. The perfect combination when you are camping close by and do not want to travel far to grab the essentials. read more

Landrys has really declined in the past year...coolers breaking down and thawed products being refrozen...Poor inventory selection...I bought ice cream sandwiches today and I live only a mile away...when I opened a box to have one, the entire box of sandwiches was so soggy I could have drank it from a glass! Both boxes were the same way and I find their ice cream is usually similarly not fully frozen.....If I wanted a milkshake I would go elsewhere. Many times frozen items have freezer frost on the food.
