Sergenians has an unbelievable amount of gorgeous floor coverings, including carpet which is what I was shopping for. There was no problem taking home several carpet samples for a few days, trying to make my decision. One thing I really appreciated was their array of companies, fabric, colors, information on content and environmental/allergen free choices. I was lucky to have Molly assist me because I was overwhelmed, not being someone who shops for carpet often. Molly found samples closer to what I wanted than I had found. I was stuck and she was patient and helpful, never pushy. I ended up choosing a large and fabulous area rug which Sergenians have several stacks of. Madison Turners is a small nonprofit with a long history in Madison. we selected Sergenians to remove a large amount of glue down carpet over concrete and replace it with lvt glue down because of a moisture problem which we explained to them. We selected them because of their experience and long history in the community. We thought they would be knowledgeable and stand behind their work. Boy were we wrong! Their subcontractor botched the installation. within a few months, we had adhesive constantly oozing from the cracks in the lvt, damaging the equipment placed over it and posing a slip and fall risk for our customers. We met with Sergenians staff several times once we figured out what was happening. They were either unwilling or unable to come up with solutions and suggested that we are somehow responsible for the problem which is absurd. They also interfered when we tried to get tech support from their adhesive supplier. Don't assume that longevity necessarily means better reliability or quality! We paid a premium for a shoddy installation that they were unwilling to stand behind. read more

We had Sergentian's replace tile in our kitchen and dining room. The install was supposed to take three days. It took five. While the team was pleasant, they didn't proactively communicate the changes in timeline. They didn't use any dust containment materials and didn't sweep up razor-sharp shards of tile that were strewn around the area each night. There was a workplace injury as well. I suggested to the demolition person that he should be wearing eye protection, which he didn't. He had to leave the job site early one day because of an eye injury. They accidentally chipped our wood floor and didn't mention it to us. The final product looks nice but the process could have been much better. Because we had planned for a three day installation, but it went for five, I had to miss appointments, and couldn't attend an event I had already paid for. From tile design to ordering to receiving, the customer was of highest consideration. I would recommend this over a Home Depot or Menards where the people you talk with are not tile experts. read more

I recently had the floors in my house refinished, and gotta say...it was a fantastic experience! These are the kind of projects one dreads, with the amount of work involved, moving absolutely everything out, and completely disrupting living conditions for a week...not the adventure you want to do more than once! But Sergenian's crew was absolutely fantastic, every single step of the way! (5-stars isn't enough!) Starting with Russ' consultation, he is the epitome of professionalism, always being sure to not over-promise, or just agree to everything I say to make the sale. And when Kyle and Armando came to do the work, they continued with extremely specific discussions of the technique, timeline, expectations, etc. They worked diligently, with extreme consideration for my home, my dog, and fully discussing all of the steps along the way. Out-standing! And the quality of their work is A+ to boot. In this day and age, it is incredibly difficult to find contractors who are reliable, experts, diligent, considerate, and actually deliver on what they say. You are lucky if you get two of those qualities, but Russ, Kyle and Armando delivered in full in every single category; Outstanding! (Did I mention how nice all of the office staff was as well? They were; and efficient, too!) I have had an *extremely* mixed bag of experiences dealing with contractors here in Madison, from absolutely miserable schiesters I've been tempted to take to court to the very good ones who've been great and gotten the job done. But this group of individuals was so outstandingly great, I wish they'd take up every other trade, and solve all of my remodeling needs! To be clear, I don't work for Sergenians, and I'm not related to anyone there (!) but I think when you come across such an amazing, talented team, who cares deeply, and actually does their job incredibly well (at reasonable cost, no less!), well, that deserves a minute of my time to say thanks, for a job more than well done. Turns out there are still some good people out there, just gotta find them as you wade through the opportunists and such...faith in humanity restored through flooring! ;-} (And almost forgot, but the flooring was *black* which is extremely non-standard! I'd looked and talked with several other companies, always getting a "...yeah I think we can do something like that" vibe; not what you want to hear. But Sergenians was incredibly explicit about what can and cannot be done, and they might say "minimizing expectations," but in reality, the final floor is absolutely glorious, way BEYOND what I'd even hoped for!) Ok, time to stop the ramble, and I'm gonna go enjoy my new floors! (And in the photos I'm posting, it is hard to capture the rich black, because if you go "true" to color, it looks so dark you see no detail...but to see any detail, you have to brighten up, and they don't look like that. Such are the limitations of "standard" photography; HDR photos would be ideal. The takeaway point is that IN-PERSON, the floor looks SPECTACULAR! ...and yes, black floors will show dog hair, dust, etc., but a small price for the best looking floors ever!) read more

We've been working with sergenian's for 2 months and they've been excellent. Our floors got damaged from a kitchen faucet leak. Our property manager referred us to sergenian's as they were familiar with the condo units at our condo. We are first time homeowners, so we were lost in this whole process. Didn't know anything about floors. We connected Tom from sergenians with our home insurance agent. They handled everything and explained itnto us in a way we could understand without being condescending. When it came to choosing the floors, we physically went to the show room. The staff was professional, helpful, and nice! They let us take samples home and hold on to them. There was one time I was running late because of traffic and they waited. They have very thorough descriptions on what floors would be best for our needs: having a dog, our condo unit, spuills, etc.. I've had numerous phone calls with them throughout this process and they've been patient and helpful. When it came to finally installing our floors, they came to our condo while we were at work for 3 days. Each day, they moved our furniture and moved it back to place. They brought their own garbage can to throw away trash. Our floors look beautiful. I guess one thing to note is that there were couple times where they said they would call, but I had call back as I never got a phone call. They aren't quite finished as they ran out of a transition part. They were going to order more and said they'd call me in a week. It's been a week now, so I will call soon ! Not a big deal at all. The product seems fine (a beautiful "stone" vinyl tile), but I was frustrated by the sales rep's inability to tell me how it compared to the usual Luxury Vinyl Tile. It was MUCH thicker and harder to work with. I probably would still have purchased it, but I didn't like how evasive she was about the difficulty of DIY installation. Another difference in this product from luxury vinyl plank flooring is the weight of the box. When I bought LVPF, the boxes weighed about 40 pounds, and I could just get them into the house and up the stairs myself. The LV tile was in smaller boxes that weighed 65 pounds!!! I couldn't lift them. Even the man at the warehouse I had to drive to to pick them up said they were the heaviest flooring he'd ever handled. I really would have appreciated a warning about that when I was purchasing them. They insisted we needed three boxes of tile. We could have got by with two and saved $200+. They were clear that that even an unopened box was non-refundable/non-returnable. The same sales rep did not make it clear that I could order over the phone so I returned to the store with the sample and ordered there. Maybe they were worried about me returning the sample in a timely fashion? Two sales people struggled to process my credit card and then failed to return the card. When I called to ask if they had my card (it was the last place I'd used it and there was, as I said, confusion about the processing of the card), the same sales rep insisted she had seen me return it to my wallet. That's just ridiculous. That is not a thing a person "remembers." It made me quite sure she was just trying to deny responsibility. So, I'm happy with how the flooring looks, and I was able to figure out how to install it and cut it and all that, but I'm not terribly happy with my experience with Sergenians, and I won't be using their services again. There are easier flooring purveyors to work with in Madison. read more

My Husband & I had Sergenian's install vinyl flooring and carpet upstairs and they installed carpet in the basement. We both were very overwhelmed at the beginning...Wesley made picking out flooring and carpet a whole lot easier...he was very helpful. From picking out flooring and carpet with Wesley...the great suggestions that Nick had for the flooring when he came to measure to AJ installing the vinyl flooring! Wesley, Nick and AJ paid attention to our details on how we what we wanted things. The entire staff was professional...they were patient and helpful with answering all of our questions! The selection process was great, excellent help from staff for both carpet and area rugs. We purchased both an area rug for our dining room and carpeting for our family room and bedroom. I cannot say enough about how stellar the service has been. The area rug was delivered and our salesman spent time getting the placement just right and then he and his helper moved our previous rug upstairs for us and placed that rug perfectly. Our carpet installation was also stellar. The installers were respectful, pleasant and did an A+ job. read more

I've spent thousands of dollars here. The latest job was a disaster. They wrote up a contract, I agreed to it. I paid the down payment and when the job was done, they jacked up the price. In went there for the professionalism, since that no longer exists, I'm done with them. There are cheaper alternatives out there. They subcontract the work same as Home Depot and every other place that does installs. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. read more

My husband and I recently purchased carpeting for three rooms in our home. We had a lot going on and not a lot of time. I went into Sergenian's Floor Coverings and was immediately approached by Bob. I explained what I wanted and what my price range was. He was so helpful. He immediately went and found samples for me to bring home. It was easy and didn't require much time on my part. I had went into other stores and was not even asked if I needed help, so I just walked out. Bob did an amazing job. He was so willing to work with me and assist me. Without his assistance, it would have taken me forever to find what I was looking for and the entire ordeal would have been overwhelming. The installation went smoothly. We have a lot of very heavy furniture that needed to be moved. The carpet is beautiful and the price fell right into our price range. Carpet side is awesome! Flooring side not so much. Would recommend skipping any hardwood or floor refinishing for other vendors with stronger service. However - loved everything whenever it was carpeting and was disappointed flooring didn't have the same positives.
