We've used Landscape Locators the last few years for bi-weekly yard maintenance. Both the front and backyard has turf and no grass so there really isn't that much to do. There is a hedge by the neighbors wall that needs trimming every few months and there are also some palm trees that need the dead leaves to be stripped once in a while. The service was decent at first but has gone downhill. The property is a rental so we are not there very often to check if these tasks are being done. When we went down last week we noticed a very overgrown hedge on one side while the adjacent wall was trimmed and there were lots of dead leaves left on the plants. We ended up cleaning up the dead leaves ourselves and I emailed Kevin and sent him pictures of the overgrown hedge. When the gardener Nicolas came the following Monday I asked if the hedge was trimmed. Kevin said no and said it's because it's by the pool equipment and it was too tight for him to go in and trim it. This is BS as the overgrown hedge was on the outside of the pool equipment area. Even if he had to go inside the pool equipment area there is a lot of space and not tight at all. Instead he asked for $295 to remove the hedge which is ridiculous. My neighbor also told me he has observed the gardeners don't do much. They just walk around with the blower blowing dust around instead of doing any real gardening. I don't think I am very demanding but if you don't do your job and ask for more money to do it then it's time to find a better service elsewhere. read more

I text the following day and they say "I already told you Nicolas tried to call you yesterday". Ok whatever. I didn't schedule a call but thays fine. Lets reschedule. I accept the 1st appointment they offer and ask for them to text when they are on the way. Andrew says "Nicolas doesn't like to call or text when hes working. Just be there and he will show up during the window we offered. I canceled immediately. Andrew and Nicolas could stand to learn some business ethics. I get it, they feel like they just cut grass for a living. But some of us actually appreciate our landscaping and the people that upkeep it for us. Thank goodness for Landscape Locators. We've done numerous projects for our home in RSM, including a pool installation, and the worst part of the project is finding a good contractor. We wanted to add entry steps and replace grass with a front courtyard, as well as replace the concrete around our pool in the back. After two failed attempts on our own, I contacted Landscape Locators. Andrew was very responsive, professional, knowledgeable, and made the process incredibly simple. I 100% recommend them and would not fathom doing an outdoor project again without them. After conversation and measurement, we had three vetted bids within a week. We were walked through each of the bids, and selected Ralph as the contractor who best met our needs. Ralph and his team did a fantastic job. Very poor service. They just blow and go. They agreed to do weeding, trimming, mowing grass, fertilizing, basic cleaning and maintenance of sprinklers. However, they come for 10 to 15 min each time to blow and go and do basic trimming / mowing. They leave trash behind and never do any weeding. Our yard is still full of weeds after I complained and they said they would do their best to remedy the issue. Their excuse was the rains but that is not an excuse - they never did any weeding since we moved to our house over 2 years ago. The weeds were left unweeded even though they said they would do better. See attached pictures. Kevin does not keep his word and is not very professional. He would rather us find an alternate vendor than do what is in their scope of work. I gave him an option to resolve or we move on. He chose to not make effort to do more for us. Don't choose a partner who will leave you when things get tough. Find someone who will do whatever it takes to work things out. Good businesses make things right not choose to lose the account since they haven't made much effort to make their customer happy. Customer satisfaction guaranteed approach he mentions on his business profile - not true. He tried once to resolve but nothing improved with his service so he decided to let us move on rather than finding us a better gardener. I highly would not recommend. Also, they have a weekly service but they don't service you that week if your service day lands on a holiday or if it rains! There are no "makeup" days. We are the consummate DIYers. But when it came time to redo our backyard, we were like fish out of water when we realized that we needed professional assistance to tackle our major renovation. I set-up a time for Kevin to come out to help us find a contractor to install the plans provided by a landscape designer. I was initially disappointed when he told us that the yard that the designer had drawn up would cost over $50K to install and had expensive material choices. After weighing all of our options, we asked Kevin to come back out to help us plan out our design. He asked us basic questions about what we envisioned for our backyard and how much we wanted to spend; he then drafted up a preliminary plan that took all of our wants and needs into consideration. He then sent this design out to bid with three of his landscape contractors. A few weeks later, we sat down with Kevin and went over the bids line by line. All of the contractors offered comparable bids and were within a few thousand dollars of one another. Kevin reviewed how the bids varied in different areas, what each bid covered (and did not cover). Kevin gave us options to find the right contractor: * A small company with one crew * A medium company who had a few crews, but the owner was hands-on and would make design recommendations throughout the project * A large company with multiple crews who could start immediately We elected to go with the medium sized company. We set up a time to meet with the owner and walked him through the project so that we could both ask questions of one another. As everyone knows contractors can be hit or miss, we reached out to LL since there was no cost to us and it seemed worth taking a chance on. Kevin was fantastic. He set up meetings during my kid's nap time and even came to present the proposals in the evening (8pm!) after the kids were asleep so we could be fully engaged in the conversation. Our experience with Landscape Locators was excellent from onset until well after project completion. First, we had our consultation with Kevin. He came to our home to discuss the project (front yard renovation, some backyard drainage and greenery). He walked us through all the options being mindful of our budget; he didn't try to upsell us, which we really appreciated. After the consult, he was always available to answer follow up questions or to add little forgotten components to the bid. Also, I'll add that he always answered all the questions in an email; too many people just read the first sentence and don't address all your concerns! And he helped enormously with getting all the paperwork we were required to submit to our HOA. We ended up not having a big enough project to bid out, so the internal contracting team did our renovation. Jesse and his team were absolute rock stars. They worked SO hard to demolish all the old landscaping and put new, beautiful stonework in. Our entryway turned out perfectly; the guys are not only strong and hardworking, but mathematicians (making all the surfaces perfectly aligned with the correct slopes) and artists (creating a beautiful lattice of stone for the walkway and planter). It was amazing how fine-tuned their operation was; the trucks with supplies showed up right on time, unloaded quickly, and then the haul away appeared right as they finished filling the containers. They flew through the project and finished in 8 days without any delays. And the team was very kind and helpful when I was indecisive on small choices (what color rocks, what kind of mulch, etc). I can't emphasize enough how impressed and grateful I was to have this team! Communication was good, scheduling was easy, pricing was good. This review reflects the quality of work for a simple project. Project scope was to trench out and level a 3 inch deep rectangular area, install edging and weed barrier. See attached photos for final outcome. Project took two days instead of one, and as you can see the edging is far from straight. The area was not level, nor was the edging installed correctly at the first attempt. Crew came back for a full second day to mitigate, which led to an improvement in leveling but not edging. read more
