In one word... Lifesaver.  Grig and his team were lifesavers when we thought we had no one on our side to help us sell our condo in Logan Square.  We were working with another agent and it was very apparent after a few weeks of being on the market that our agent was not looking out for our best interest, nor was he confident that he could sell it.  We quickly had to make one of the hardest decisions of our lives and let go of our agent. I worked with Terry Hegarty last year to purchase my first home. This was not a referral -- he was the first person to respond to my online query about viewing a property that I was interested in. The process went pretty well (although there were a few bumps). Terry was also able to provide referrals for an attorney and inspector which was helpful. The only thing that leaves a bad taste in my mouth is the fact that I guess they aren't in the business of having proper etiquette and keeping in contact with past clients so that they can become returning clients. I began my condo hunting journey with a different broker and agency, put in 3 offers, had none accepted and was growing frustrated and pressured. I was introduced to Brad Robbins, co-owner of Vesta, and throughout the first round of searching using the other agency, Brad was always there in the background to bounce thoughts off of and dig deeper into the details, while being clear he did not want to step on the toes of the other broker. I was impressed that while he would receive no commission on whatever condo I purchased, he still followed up with me and talked me through the process, showed me the things I should be focusing on (special assessments, expensive projects etc). He was realistic and told me when I was considering overpaying just to win, when a neighborhood seemed like a market risk, etc. He was doing everything my broker should have been doing. I eventually gave up, called off my search and my broker stopped his effort (or lack thereof) Months later Brad called again. He wanted to know where my head was at with the search; what he could do to help. My own broker didn't do that! Brad's dedication to the client is what impressed me most. I officially began working with Brad, had an offer accepted on the first property we saw and closed in 30 days. When I hit a snag with my loan officer who wasn't convinced he could meet our closing deadline Brad jumped in and introduced me to a team that immediately called and guaranteed I would be closed on time; and we did! With Vesta and Brad you will get zero BS, 100% follow through and a team of all-stars (from lenders, office assistants and Brad himself). I was so relieved when I got a call from Terry Hegarty! After being turned away by multiple contacts because I was looking "too early", Terry had got the ball rolling with our search. Wow. Really. Wow! I had been looking at apartments on Craigslist for several weeks - trying to get an idea of what was out there, since I've been out of the rental market for nearly 5 years. I currently live in Printers Row and pretty much determined that I wanted to stay in the area so I could continue to walk to/from work, so I was looking at Printers Row, the South Loop and West Loop - and, as we all know, a lot of the same buildings and units come up - but just affiliated with different agents/companies. I didn't think much of it, but just kept saving places I liked to go back to later. Flash forward to Thursday afternoon, when I find out that the offer has been accepted on my condo (on the market since 5/16) - woohoo - but they want to close by 12/16 - booo! So... sure... find an apartment, pack and move within a month - oh, and just throw Thanksgiving right in the middle there, as well as a really busy time at work... PANIC ATTACK! I get home from work and start going through the apartments I saved that I wanted to see, and yelped the different companies, and Vesta Preferred had the highest rating. Well, there we go - I know who I am going to work with since I need to find a place this weekend. Two of the places I was interested in were listed by Stephanie, so I left her a voicemail on Friday morning, babbling about how I need to move/see places/thanksgiving is coming (yes, I probably sounded like a basket case) and could I see some of these places this weekend. I knew that I was quickly getting within the 24 hour window generally needed to view places (since I'd just gone through the whole selling process...) and I didn't want to miss out on trying to see some places on Saturday (today), so I called the main number on their website - and talked to Brad (whom people rave about, as well) and basically explained that I was in a bit of a panic about it all. We chatted about what I was looking for, we talked about non-negotiables and areas that I wanted to focus on. Brad took down my details and said he'd call Stephanie to let her know I was anxious (crazy?). Well, that wasn't even necessary, because less than a minute after I hung up the phone with Brad, Stephanie called me back. She was super nice and friendly - and I explained I had just called the office - and we talked about what I was looking for, my neighborhood preferences, what amenities I would like to see, and - of course - price point. I also told her about one building I knew I didn't ant to live in (frat-type horror stories I wanted to avoid). Within 30 minutes, she sent me a list of 6 properties, all within my price range and in my desired neighborhoods - and even made an appointment at the one I was the most interested in. I then added another 3 places to the list and she promptly scheduled the appointments. Well, needless to say, Stephanie and I met 4 hours ago - and I am already home writing this review - because she and Vesta Preferred rock! Stephanie picked me up at my current place (which was on the way to our first stop) and then deposited me back at my doorstep less than 3 hours later, and I have a new home for December! Now, there are some people/companies that I am sure would have taken advantage of my truncated timeline - but not Stephanie/Vest Preferred - she wanted to make sure that I found a place I really and truly liked, not just trying to get me into any apartment that had availability. I am so thankful to Stephanie and Vesta - because now I don't have to worry about finding an apartment... I just have to worry about packing. At least there's wine for that. read more
