While my leasing venture did not work out with my potential roommate in Lakeview, and I ended up just resigning my lease where I live, I cannot say enough good things about Tim Tuckley at this agency. Dude is a saint. Put a lot of effort to let me tour on a weekend. He definitely wanted to get the commission. Nice chill mild mannered guy who overall understands most details of the properties he shows. May also have the halo effect working in his favor in a sales job like this (handsome chap). Definitely will work with Pioneer Realty again if I need to. They seem like they got their shit together compared to other agencies like "The Apartment Source", which mostly doesn't. Not to mention, while being a real estate or leasing agent is usually the job of an over eager shark trying to get you to sign stuff quick, Tim is a lot more subtle about that and genuinely informative. For the last few months, I've been working with Ian to find a new apartment, and his dedication to helping people find their perfect place is very evident. Even though I reached out a few weeks (okay, *many weeks*) before listings for my move-in date would typically open up, he was diligent in finding as many listings as he could that I might have been interested in. When I expressed interest in a few properties, he instantly scheduled an appointment to show them to my boyfriend and me within a few days. During this first appointment, he also let me know that we could reach out to him at any time for help, no matter the day of the week. Ian means business, but is also very personable, which is all you could want in an agent, right? None of the initial listings worked out for us, but he continued to help us by sending any listings that fit our must-have list. They abandoned me during my search a few months back and I lost a good amount of my savings only because they wanted to side with the property managing company. Could have been the realtor I had but he claimed to have contacted his boss and instead they cut me loose for their own benefit. I don't typically leave bad reviews, but this called for it. I had a scheduled apartment showing with Jon with Pioneer Realty Group. We agreed on showing at noon. The posting already had the address wrong and the description wrong, but the photos still looked promising. After waiting for Jon for 15 min, I email him at 12:15 to get and ETA from him. He emails back "15 min". He really shows up at 12:40. So he's 40 min late to the showing during my lunch hour and I had to reach out to him to figure it out. He shows up and says "sorry, I have a lot going on. I have two apartments here, but not sure where they are so we need to find them. I have yet to be in these apartments." The first apartment was god awful disgusting with garbage, cockroach traps, and clothes and junk all over the place. The second place was cleared out, thankfully, but was smaller than the first even though the rent was more per month. Neither apartment looked ANYWHERE NEAR the posted pictures in the ad. Therefore, they had the address, description, and pictures wrong in the posting and this Jon guy wasted my lunch hour showing up 40 min late. Terrible experience. read more

I am a recent college graduate and was searching for a new apartment in Chicago. Jeff McHugh was communicative and helpful throughout the process, helping me to navigate the complicated administrative processes associated with renting, as well as going above and beyond to show me my unit multiple times. He is personable, friendly, and enthusiastic about helping his clients. My one suggestion for Pioneer is that the company works to streamline its application process, or to provide more systematic updates about the status of individual items that need to be completed. At times, I was unsure if I had my unit reserved, and due to several unusual circumstances (short credit history, small out-of-state bank, etc.) I was unable to move as quickly as I would've liked through the various steps required to successfully apply for the rental. read more

She sent me videos before I could come to town and showed me several apartments in the Lakeview area while I was here. Not only was she friendly and responsive but she gave helpful advice beyond the apartments themselves - mentioning good places nearby to get coffee, places to park my car, etc. She also kept in touch throughout the application process and answered my questions, even when I was reaching out to her outside of working hours. Altogether, I was grateful to have someone so competent guide me through a very stressful process and help me find a place I'm excited to move into, with plenty of time to settle in before I start a new job in a couple of weeks. I've not used Pioneer Realty to find an apartment- BUT I have had to arrange a showing through one of their Realtors, & this is the origin of my low opinion of Pioneer Realty Group. The argument could be made that my review doesn't apply because: "Who cares how the employee treats people as long as he/she is fighting to find a great new home for the end client?" In my experience- the way you behave between First Contact/Final Closing AND how you treat the people in between that you have no opportunity to make money off of says a lot about the employee & the organization employing him/her, so without further ado- here is my experience. A man called 'Jon with Pioneer Realty Group' texted my wife & I at 5:40PM on Sunday afternoon asking to schedule a showing of our apartment the following day at 6:10PM. (Requested appointment is 24 Hours & 30 Minutes after he originally texted.) We said yes & let him know that there was a dog in the apartment, but that we would leave work early to get home by 6:00, vacate the apartment with the Pooch & have the apartment viewing-ready for them. I work in O'Hare & my wife works downtown, so best case scenario, she can get home in 40 minutes & I can get home in 55. I left work at EXACTLY 5:00PM (this is a rare treat for me) to make sure I'm there for our scheduled appointment, but after being on the road for less than 10 minutes, Jon texts back saying they'll be there in less than 15min. In all caps, here are the censored thoughts that went through my head: WELL GOSH-DIGGITY-DANG JON, WHY DID YOU SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT AT 6:10 IF YOU WEREN'T GOING TO SHOW UP AT 6:10? (In my profession this is somewhat of a faux pas.) In more caps, here was my next censored thought: LEAPING LIZZARDS! COULD IT BE THAT JON REQUESTED TO SEE THE APARTMENT AT 6:10 BECAUSE HE WAS WORRIED WE WOULDN'T GIVE CONSENT TO THE VIEWING WITH UNDER 24HRS NOTICE GIVEN THAT HE ALERTED US ON SUNDAY PM?!? (Again, he first texted at 5:40PM on Sunday evening, so he already would have missed the necessary 24Hr window.) To make the rest of the story a bit quicker- after this text, my wife ALSO left work without finishing everything for the day, & at 5:35PM (as she was walking up to the building to open the door)((& still 30+ minutes prior to our scheduled appointment)), we received this text: "No worries we don't need to see your ur place we saw the one right under yours" I've not experienced such a wild disregard for the value of my & my wife's time since the Pooch made me stand outside for 25 minutes in a light drizzle while sniffing out the perfect place to poop. That was bearable because I love the little guy- but Pioneer Realty Group, I do not love. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Use a company that respects other people's time!! If you're a renter today, you'll be showing your apartment in the near future, & this company will not respect you or your time once their Realtors do not stand to make any money off of a transaction with you. read more

After owning for a few years, I decided to sell my condo and move closer to the city. Trying to find something reasonably priced, with a good layout and somewhat newer appliances was daunting. I contacted Sean to help with our search and he was amazing. I originally contacted him on one property and he was quick to respond and ask a few more questions. With those answers instead of seeing 1 apartment, we ended up seeing 6 apartments. When none of those really worked for what we needed, Sean sent me a few more options outside of the neighborhood we were considering. He was great when I contacted him to set up a last minute (90 min before) showing on one of them! While I didn't find an apartment through PRG, I did find a building (and apartment) and neighborhood that met all our requirements. I definitely recommend! read more

His professionalism cannot be emphasized enough. He will answer every email, text, or question that you have. He will put your needs FIRST. He will work TIRELESSLY to find you the perfect apartment! He is honest and respectful, and just one of the nicest guys in the business. To sum up my experience: I was in a panic this summer to find a nice studio under $1,200. Right after I contacted Eddie, he had three great places to show me the next day. My mom was coming to town that weekend to help me with my hunt, so he set up a second showing to see even more places with her. I found a place I loved, and Eddie met up with us a third time that weekend to see the apartment again just so I could be 100% certain I liked it before I applied. This was on a Sunday morning. I applied right away, but unfortunately learned that someone else beat me to the application. I was so devastated and stressed, but Eddie told me not to worry - we would get back out ASAP to start the process again. Literally the next day Eddie made himself available and showed me seven great apartments in the span of two hours. It was as if my apartment search was his own - that's how much it seemed to matter to him. I don't know where else you can get this level of customer service. Eddie was an angel in disguise who eliminated so much of the stress associated with my apartment search. I will recommend him to everyone I know. He is such a massive asset to Pioneer Realty Group!
