I have a smaller wait and larger upper body so I prefer to buy off the rack and then get them altered. 2 of my jackets required a lot of work, but they all came out fantastic. I had a nightmare wedding experience here and DO NOT recommend this tailor for wedding alterations. I chose Lane Sung due to all the wonderful reviews stating that the work was wonderful and affordable, one review even touted that the alterations were better and more cost-effective than chains like David's Bridal. My dress was too large in the chest and too tight in the hips, so I went in for a fitting. I had also brought in fabric from my grandmother's dress to add cap sleeves. After the fitting, she told us the alterations would be almost $600 (my dress was only $800 to begin with). Now that I've talked to other brides who needed similar alterations (and seen the finished product) I know that the price tag was ridiculous and I should have just walked away, but I was completely naive. I returned 2 weeks later as agreed and the owner shoved the dress in my hands and escorted me out the door. It was an abrasive experience and contradictory to the original plan, which was to have me come back and try the dress on again to make sure everything fit correctly. I got home and tried on the dress, already anxious after that exchange, and I COULDN'T EVEN ZIP IT UP. Mind you, I had LOST almost 10 pounds between the first fitting and picking up the dress, so this was not a weight gain problem. I was in tears. I returned the next morning as soon as the shop opened and explained the problem as calmly as possible. I tried on the dress for her, and she retook my measurements. She stated that she had forgotten to measure something last time, which is why it wouldn't zip. She ended up having to add fabric to the bottom layer. She asked me to come pick it up the next week, which was 2 weeks before my wedding. I didn't trust her at this point so I ordered a $100 dress off of Amazon as a back-up dress and prayed that one of the dresses would work. When I picked up the original dress from her I could zip it but it just did not fit well. It didn't lay right on my body. The lace she had used from my grandmother's dress was raw and tacky looking--she had just cut it and sewn in on in a way I could have done myself with no training. I was too overwhelmed to fight over it and I left in tears again. My Amazon dress arrived 3 days before my wedding. It probably could have used some alterations as well but still fit and looked 100 times better than my original butchered dress--so I got married in it. Thank God I was able to focus on my marriage and not this painful part of the wedding planning process, so I did enjoy my wedding day. Still, I had dreamed of my wedding dress since I was a little girl, as I am sure many brides do, and I would hate to see someone else go through the same thing I did, which is why I am writing this review. read more

I dropped my dress off at this shop for alterations and when I went to pick up the dress the store smelled of heavy cigarette smoke. When I took my dress home it smelled as if someone was chain smoking in my dress. It was horrible and I definitely will not be going back there for alterations. I brought several slacks to be altered and almost every pair had to be redone. On a couple pair they were too long and she encouraged me to have the crotch taken for $20 which would also take care of the length but when I got there they were still too long so she charged me another $12 to do the length. I had two others that came straight from the cleaners that only needed the length done and when I went to pick them up they were all wrinkled and too short which she said once they are pressed they will be fine, I asked her to lengthen by 1/2 in and press them so I left for 20 minutes came back and got the slacks only to get home to see she only pressed them... I ended up having to go to another tailor and pay to have them fix her mistakes.. I have no idea how she got these good reviews after I blew $200 there. I will NEVER go back!!! read more

I actually discovered her from Reddit when researching Nordstrom's alteration policy since I had some credits there. This thread wasn't Dallas specific at all but someone made a bold comment to check out Lane Tailor in Richardson. I found it a bit odd that this user would just throw out a local business, when the original poster wasn't anywhere close to Dallas and never asked for a recommendation. She must be good, right? I followed up on this comment and brought her a fairly inexpensive coat as a test drive. Coats never fit me to my liking and the sleeves are almost always too long. One week turnaround, and the coat fits perfectly!! I have another coat in my closet I haven't even tried on because it's just too pretty and way too expensive, but I would wholeheartedly trust her to work on it if needed. I took several pair of jeans in here a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier with the outcome. They were ready in about a week, but she said she could get them done faster if I needed. The tailor was very nice and efficient. I had to buy a very specific suit for my job and the ONLY one we were able to find was on ebay. GREAT NEWS! Except...it was a size 2...and I am easily a size 4. I brought the #200 suit into Nancy and hoped for the best after reading wonderful reviews. She had to completely remake the suit, take all out all 5 seams in the jacket including the lining. I handed over my one-of-a-kind wedding dress to Nancy at Lane Sung Tailor. I was nervous, as any bride would be, but had been recommended to this Tailor by a friend who had used Nancy for her wedding dress alterations. My dress was a LOT more intricate with much more lace detail and ruffles. Due to the nature of my dress, and my height, Nancy had a big undertaking to shorten the length of the dress without losing the ruffles. Nancy is a WIZARD! I was THRILLED with the results! She was very professional and was able to alter the dress in 2 weeks time with only one dress fitting in between. She was also altering other wedding dresses at the time.
