I took a pair of jeans to get mended. I know, I know...who does that? It is probably cheaper to go buy a new pair, but hear me out. Shopping for clothes that fit and that are of the same quality can be a challenge and very time consuming. In this case, my husband had a pair of button-fly, 501 jeans that he loves and didn't want to part with. Unfortunately, a hole was starting to form on the front near the zipper. He didn't want to risk showing off his junk, so he asked me to find a tailor. Spinning Wheel took the work on. I didn't have a rush job, so she took her time and said it would be done in a week. I was a bit surprised that I had to pay in-full, in advance. I mean, what if the workmanship was shoddy? Or what if they lost the jeans? I understand a deposit, but they did after all have the jeans for collateral. Even with the small hole, they could have resold the jeans and made money, but alas, they made me pay in-full. Upon returning to the store a week later, I couldn't even find the hole. She had to point out where it had been and the work that was done to cover it. The area was stiff, but other than that, I was not able to identify the hole or the reinforced patch job. Thankfully the stiffness softened after the jeans were laundered and worn. Sadly another hole has appeared near the back pocket, but guess what? I know a great place to take the jeans to get that fixed: Spinning Wheel! read more

When I bought this dress originally, it was some stretchy white fabric dress that looked okay and I was okay with that, but after bringing this dress to spinning wheel alterations, that's when it started looking like a wedding dress. Two days after dropping my pants off I got a call from work that I needed relocate to California immediately to respond to the wildfires. I live in Austin so I would have been unable to pick up my pants when I returned, I called Olga to see if there was any way she could have my pants completed by the end of that day.
