It's always late and today it passed me and my friend about 5 times but other than that it is a good way for transportation

Count on being late. They constantly tell their drivers to "wait 2 minutes" before leaving.

I got this app just so I could leave a positive review. Every bus driver I encountered today was so kind. The first one saw I had a stroller and told me he would wait until I'm situated to go, which isn't super common honestly. Sometimes they drive away before you even find a seat. Then, the second driver made sure everybody up front was able to fit. There was a situation where my baby and I, a guy with a pretty large roller cart, and a guy in a wheelchair had to kind of shuffle around. I of course didn't mind getting up and moving so everyone could get a ride. The bus driver figured out how we would all fit. And because I couldn't fit between the two guys, I got off through the back door where the bus driver helped me deboard my stroller safely and effectively. He told me thank you for being flexible, and I thanked him back because he was so helpful. The last driver was just in such a good mood. she had a big smile and even said on the intercom that she hopes everyone has a good day. She actually seemed like she liked her job. I'm so glad to see that LTD has hired more people's persons because it's quite common to come across bus drivers who couldn't care less and have some lame attitudes. It truly brightened my day to experience the kindness back to back. read more

I have worked as a driver for LTD for a year and a half now, I noticed several of the poor reviews that were on Yelp for LTD and saw that all of them were made before I started working for the company. This has been one of the best jobs I have ever had, I love the people that I work with and I was very surprised to find out that the Passengers were not what I was expecting, In my mind I pictured all of the dangerous people that others have made comments about, and was more than a little worried about it. What I actually found was that 99.9% of the passengers have been awesome, I especially like those overfilled busses of students that was mentioned. I arrived at LCC one time and class had just gotten out, I immediately called Operations to ask when the next bus would be coming because I didn't think I could take them all, Ops said there would be another in less than fifteen minutes, but they would probably all be on my bus before I was done with the call, Ops was correct. I started up 30th st feeling the weight of all the kids sardined in the bus then on the way down the other side, my first stop had an older woman with a walker, I wasn't to sure what I should do, but decided it had to be up to the lady to say she would wait for the next bus, I could not just pass her by without stopping. I stopped and the kids made room for her and even gave up the front seat area so that she could sit. I was so proud, and at that moment I fell in love with being a bus driver. I have seen many other things just as awesome. With all of the negative news all the time it is so easy to become jaded about your fellow travelers, but getting out and meeting them has made me realize just how amazing people are. When you see someone who is really at their lowest, you have to remember all you are seeing is a quick snapshot of that person's life, You don't know what kind of kids they once were or if they are at bottom now and will rise out of it to do great things. That can even go for that grumpy driver you may have ran into. I have never work with a group of people who by far care about the people they transport as my fellow workers. I am proud to be allowed to be one of them. One of the earlier comments said something about drivers stopping and playing on their phones making them late for work... There are time points on the route that a driver has to stop for, to leave early may cause a person who is following the schedule on their UMO app to reach the stop ontime but the bus left early, that is much worse than a bus running late, the person trying to use their app will still be able to catch their bus. Use of a cell phone while even leaning on the drivers seat may result in termination of employment, so to be safe the driver takes the phone off the bus at a time point where they have to wait regardless. If relying on bus to get to work on time always safer to give yourself an extra hour, traffic is traffic and anything can happen. So I been riding the bus since I was a child in Eugene 42 years off and on and on. And it really is a nice system here but there are a few drivers that are just so horrible to patrons that it's left me disgusted with there service this time I'm. Regarding was Tuesday April 2nd 2024 catching the 12 gateway leaving the station at 730pm along Harlow mind you I have ridden 3 busses that day this particular bus rolled up it Said 28 hilliard and the driver hadn't changed it and couldn't obviously so there must ne a issue with his system I got on and itbwas getting cold I wasn't dressed for cold and I told the driver about the sign and he was rude in return I scanned my card and it failed twice now I know I have a valid buss pass I've had one the majority of my life a monthly pass sone what or another u don't carry cash and he told me if I don't have a pass I got to pay cash I told him I know itsbvalid it's paid and I had used it. Earlier he smugly asked when I told him a hour ago on the way there he Said cash only or get off I've never experienced this I when I pointed out. Maybe his reader doesn't work since I showed him on my app that it said my pass was good for over 2 more months I was stone walked and told. To get off or he was calling Transit police I said fine and got off only out of respect for other passengers who also might be running late and or had somewhere to be these otd employees need to remember they are not paid in bus fare but they are paid with tax money from everybody including taxes placed on business owners including myself now i really despise lane transit district and will use. Other options like Uber and Lyft there drivers are respectful and polite and thankful for the business I wish the had less than one star read more

LTD is absolutely unprofessional to children and the customer service representative failed to put the paperwork through until doing a follow-up on the situation. Their staff and security have horrific work ethic and lazy with their performance. It would be in the best interest for the safety and well-being of others to use a different transportation service available. read more

LTD may not be the world's best bus service, but for the most part, it gets the job done and it has allowed me to live the best life possible. I have always had good service, and if you need help planning a trip, they will help you. However, the maps aren't always the best, so if you're planning out a route you'll take on a regular basis, you might have to make a change (like change in stop), for the best results. read more

The Lane Transit District, otherwise more affectionately known as the LTD has been serving the Eugene community for nearly 40 years. Though Eugene isn't a large enough city for a subway, the LTD covers most of Eugene-Springfield with its diverse pack of bus routes. Spanning most corners of the city, its the only way most of those who are car-less get to various parts of the city. Given our ecological situation as of late, I wouldn't be surprised to see an increase in ridership for the good or the "green" of our environment. Speaking of green, most of their buses are energy efficient. The buses on a whole are usually fairly clean and well maintained. Depending on the route, quite a few of them can be overwhelmingly full during peak hours, especially the ones running near the University of Oregon and Lane Community College, where students get to ride for free. Each ride costs $1.50 each with an all day pass for $3.00. The schedules and customer service used to be a mess but it seems the LTD has gotten their act together. They've color coordinated their route maps while putting together a call center for all transportation related issues (lost & found, bus repairs, etc.). One thing that is worth noting about each of their buses is how punctual they are, most of them arrive on time all the time. I love that, I just wish they ran for 24 hours (service stops after 11PM). read more

This is a review of the bus and the routes, NOT about the people riding the bus or what to wear to avoid them. These are probably the nicest stops/stations, route mapping (there's an app for that), and on time bus/drivers I've ever encountered in the Western states. And I've been to a lot of them in many urban and rural areas. Excellent. Let me first say that the bus service in Eugene is one of the reasons that I moved here and stayed 13 years ago. Next, let me say that they have a proposal in the works that would literally eliminate a functional bus service for thousands of Eugenians that have come to depend on it for work, school, grocerIes, you know... staying alive. I'm not opposed to change or improving service, but this would eliminate the 28, 33, 55, 27, 24, 33, 12 and more so that a very narrow swath of downtown can get more frequent service. Organizations float proposals all the time and then go through a process to improve them with public feedback-- this proposal has been made with literally no efforts on LTD's part to inform the people who it would effect the most. There are no signs, no flyers, no website messaging. We've begged them hard enough to move back the board vote, but still begging them to get the word out about it. It will literally devastate the lives of regular people and I haven't heard that they care about that yet. read more

The amount of times I've been late to work because the bus drivers decide to stop while on their route to read a book or play games on their phone for 10 minutes is, like ridiculous. I don't like the bus drivers they act very entitled and like their the big boss. Ltd officers are power hungry, just like the police system, maybe I don't understand because I wasn't raised that way. The city of Eugene (and Lane County) likes to promote their high ecological standards, but the lack of free transfers (which most transport systems offer) is a glaring omission for anyone wishing to reduce or eliminate their personal car use. For example, if you commute by bike you do not need a monthly bus pass. However, you will still have errands that require transferring from one bus to a second bus to arrive at your destination. On LTD that will cost you $3.50 for ANY trip (even ONE-WAY trips) that you cannot make by bike. Then you can add the aggravation of the often low-frequency bus service and you have a significant disincentive to no or low car use. To summarize for LTD: Allowing free transfers within 2 hours is a simple measure to promote low or no car use within a transport service area. read more

What an excellent bus service. Almost always right on time -- and never early which is important. LTD goes to Cottage Grove and Blue River, wow! Although I'm a little bummed they don't go to Florence anymore. UO & Lane college students ride free! The entire system of maps, schedules, etc. is very clear to understand, unlike many transits I've used elsewhere. It seems most city bus systems are a bit confusing. LTD's is not! I can bring my bike on board and they don't charge for the EmX (wow!) so just getting a lift from Springfield to Eugene is super convenient. Aside from the rare occasional stinking attitude driver, the staff are really friendly and considerate. Most are willing to make special stops on routes that go outside the city. In 25 years, only once has a driver sailed right by me and missed my stop, so that's a very high attentiveness rate! Also the staff (and people riding the bus too apparently) do a wonderful job of getting people's belongings back to them when they've left something on the bus. I have left wallets, bikes, books, video games, etc. on the bus over the course of the last 25 years and I've ALWAYS gotten everything back. Three times my wallet had hundreds of dollars in it and I still got everything back. Top-notch !! A few things I'm disappointed with -- 1) I'm disappointed they no longer use the compostable paper for the bus schedules. Glossy color paper for every page, what a waste of money & resources, and also not very environment-friendly. It stinks (and pollutes) to burn. Seeing these new schedules gives me the impression that the directors in this company probably make wasteful decisions in other areas too. It also gives me the impression that they probably make other environmentally negligent decisions as well. Decisions like this cause the people of the area to have to pay money to make waste and pollute the earth. That's bad! 2) Until recently, I could always get on the EmX in Springfield, and ride it to Eugene (or vice-versa) without having to transfer at Springfield station. The bus would go into Springfield to the Station, continue on to Riverbend, then back to Springfield station, and continue on back into Eugene. Very convenient! Now, for some reason they've made it more cumbersome, so the bus turns around and goes back to Riverbend instead of going on to Eugene. So I have to transfer every time I arrive at Springfield Station. This is very inconvenient when I have my bike and bags with me. I don't know why they made that change. read more

LTD will not let people put their trikes on the bus at night when there's no bikes on the bus. I believe that everyone should stand up for their rights everyone with trikes should come to the bus see how many of those people get turned down with disabilities as well. read more

I'm from Salem, and had to take EmX. I've never been used a BRT system, and was impressed with the frequency, and hours the buses run. Friendly driver, and nice that buses come every 10 minutes. One suggestion. REPLACE EmX TICKET MACHINES! Ticket machine was horrible, screen was all scuffed up and hard to see, thus making it hard to work for it being my first time using a EmX machine. The EmX should also accept tap cards like the normal busses do. Bus was crowded, which is good sign, as that means people are actually using the system, unlike many transit agencies that run empty busses all over town! read more

LTD, It's the bus. Yeah. I ride LTD several times a week and definitely get my money's worth out of my monthly bus pass for doing so. For Eugene being the size of town it is, it's a pretty OK system. Just like any other public transit systems, there's going to be smelly questionable things on the seats and floor and a fair share of strangers that want to talk to you without invitation. Just wear headphones and sunglasses and read a book. For the most part, that signals to 90% of people 'don't talk to me'. (for the other 10%...the people that don't get it, you're on your own as to how to deal with them) I think it could be possible for more folks in the Eugene/Springfield area to go completely car-less if LTD offered a bit more flexibility for their riders in terms of schedules and routes offered. I dislike that LTD doesn't run many routes past certain times I also feel like connections with other routes aren't always optimal. Something that annoyed me when I first moved down here from Portland, was the fact that you couldn't get a transfer from the driver when you are going one way. So you pay your single fare for one bus, and then have to purchase another single fare for your connecting bus that will get you to your final destination. In my opinion, the single fare purchase should last you an hour and a half. It's a waste to purchase a day pass if you are only going one way. okay rant over, but seriously LTD needs to offer transfers that allow you to board a connecting bus without having to pay another fare. read more

Update from 2016: I moved to the West Eugene area since my last review and have discovered that the bus going to my neighborhood is almost always late depending on the day (and weather condition ) today for example, I read the bus schedule posted on the bus stop and saw that my bus was supposed to come at 2:27pm. I waited...and waited...then waited until point of pissed off. Not ten minutes later, the 36 finally shows up when I was expecting it to show up at the time posted on the bus schedule. The unfortunate thing about all this is I rely on the bus to get me from point A to point B due to my disability. Until by some miracle, I learn how to drive, this is a cheaper option. I have rode LTD nearly everyday for the last 3 years while attending university. For the size of Eugene, LTD is a great and well designed public transit system. While the prices have steadily increased over the last couple years, they still remain low enough for people to easily afford compared to other cities of our size (especially the day passes). It has been especially helpful to have a bus pass paid for through my student fees. LTD buses are very punctual, nearly always arriving on time and the drivers are generally nice and respectful. One complaint I do have with the bus stops is that not all of the stops have time and route information posted, this can be a very frustrating when you are traveling on a route you are unfamiliar with and do not know whether the next bus is coming in 5 mins or 30 mins. On occasion I have witnessed obviously drunk or belligerent people boarding the bus and subsequently making people around them very uncomfortable or in some rare cases even harassing fellow passengers. While most drivers are very observant to this behavior and ensure that the ride is an enjoyable experience for all, some do not seem to pay attention to the acts of passengers on the bus. Note: LTD is changing routes and eliminating certain routes in the coming months as part of a budget cut (including a route I used often, the Breeze from UO to Valley River Center). LTD is still deciding which routes and times to cut. I do hope that LTD does not also raise rates on their rides. read more

Contrary to the belief of a certain yelling, vulgar gentleman on a bicycle who rides through campus on warm days, LTD is not so bad. Their buses run on time barring weather-related mishaps, and the drivers and personnel are courteous and professional. The added plus of the free rides for UO students certainly doesn't hurt. Having been a patron of the 79, 79x and EmX on a regular basis over the past few years I've come to depend on LTD as my mode of transport when it's just not in the cards to ride my bike. They buses do stop a little earlier than I would like, and the Sunday schedule of the EmX (stops running before 8pm) makes it nigh on impossible for me to get home to S-Field if I don't time it just right. But, the EmX (until recently having been free, but now $1.50 for those without a pass/UO card) runs every 10 minutes for most of the day on weekdays and it is quite dependable, clean and efficient as a people mover. So, guy who yells things about LTD doing certain crude things to him because he is mad at them for apparently denying him a ride when he wasn't wearing some article of clothing: next time put on some pants/shirts/sense because the Bus is A-OK by me. read more

Emx is always late. I miss my connecting bus every single day, though there should be 4 mins. between their departure times. That means if you transfer to another bus, you'll be late for school or work by 30-60 minutes. Ticket machines are very confusing to use, do not give change and refuse every dollar bill put in. No exaggeration. There are no simple change machines either. On the pro side, busses are pretty nice and air-coditioned. read more

For the population of the area that it serves, LTD is probably the best transportation company in the United States. I have been riding it for almost 5 years in preference to using a car. Buses and trolleys are always on time, virtually to the minute. I have never met an unfriendly driver, except for one time, and he was gone within a week. The only problem with the service is that some of the passengers are very difficult for the drivers to deal with, having their own issues with drinking or mental illness. If problems are being caused by these passengers, however, LTD acts quickly to remove them. I went to law school in Massachusetts, used the MTA there, and have used other major transportation systems in most other large urban areas in the United States, and I have never found service as excellent as that provided in the Eugene - Springfield locale by LTD. My husband and I were driving on 69th street in Springfield, the bus ran is off the road causing me to swerve into the other lane, and almost caused a wreck, the driver wasn't even paying attention as he was pulling out of the bus stop, he didn't even look as he pulled out of the bus lane. read more

The LTD is good for some but, on occasion, I see people miss their intended stop because the driver won't open the door for them. RUDE! also, i want to point out that i live in the Sheldon area and in the morning when EVERYONE AND THEIR BROTHER is on the road at once, there is one driver who will not wait until people are seated to move the bus. I've had this happen to me on multiple occasions and it's annoying! read more

Other than by bike, LTD is THE way I get around Eugene. Always punctual, and the stops are mostly in nice, safe well lit areas with at least a bench; no complaints, only wishes: that LTD could somehow find the funds to provide 15-minute service to S. Eugene on at least one of its routes (or through a combination of routes) other than at rush hour. read more

I don't know if other routes are better than the one I ride everyday but the bus is always at least ten minutes late, sometimes as much as a half hour both going to the University of Oregon and leaving. The drivers are nice and the buses are clean but I would not ride the bus if I did not get a pass through the University of Oregon. read more

Today was my first time riding the public bus in Springfield. I just moved here from Salem (The land where the streets don't make any sense, but the buses do) and I didn't know what to expect. I showed up at the Gateway Station, and there is not a soul to be found, so I got a random nervous thought "Maybe it's like some kind of holiday or something and they aren't running and I look like a total retard." But I sat there anyway waiting. I noticed a kiosk thing that said EMX on the top, so I went up to it really quick, and it said I pay for my ticket there, went to start the process and I noticed that I had to pick an option. WHERE ARE THE ARROW KEYS?!? There are no arrow keys, you have to press the yellow button that says SELECT on it, and then once it actually works you press the green button to confirm purchase. I did not know what the fuck was going on at this point, so I'm just frantically pushing buttons until it did what I wanted and I paid $3.50 for a day pass. Then when the bus came I was closer to the back door, and it just opened in front of me to let me in, and the bus driver hadn't seen or asked to see my day pass, which was weird, because in Salem if you have a bus pass you get on in the front and show your pass, and if you don't have one you get on in the front and pay for one. So generally people only exit in the back, but some guy just walked on in front of me when I was about to walk towards the front and so I just followed him. Then once I was ready to come back to the Gateway Station, I made my way to the Springfield Station, and I noticed I couldn't find my day pass... Completely broke at this point, I was screwed, or so I thought. I started thinking about what I had done before, and just decided to press my luck and repeat the process over again and just get on the bus without a day pass or money to pay for one. AND IT WORKED. I rode the bus back, and got off at my stop and didn't pay a dime. PLEASE tell me I'm stupid and the EMX buses are free, Because that would make so much more sense. Just be kind because I'm new in town and I know absolutely nothing about this place, and the LTD website is fucking garbage. read more

OK so I ride ltd about 8 times a day, I would first like to say how every driver I noticed seems to be concerned with making sure they do not pass up any one waiting for the bus. Also how well kept the buses seem to be. "it doesn't go un seen"... I understand how stressful it must be for a driver to be providing customer service, and being aware of traffic all the time assuring a safe trip for the customer... Woohoo! Id like to mention a driver by the name (Kelly) I see him as a positive, and aware of customers needs. I have also noticed how he is with fellow employees.. As far as I'm concerned we need more people like him. He is a ray of inspiration not just for me but for others I believe. I thank you Kelly for who you are and what you represent. We very rarely use the bus line but after our wonderful experience on Saturday (8/25) we plan to use it more. We took the 9:41 bus (43) to down town and were really impressed with the kindness and thoughtfulness of the driver. His name was Arturo and he was very careful to wait for the passengers to get a seat before pulling out to the next station. He is a definite keeper for your organization. On the way back on the 3:00 pm bus (41) we had a bus driver named Charles who was very helpful and kind to his passengers and waited for the disabled to get buckled in and be safe. Later he also helped me find a delicious baguette we bought at the Saturday Market and left on his bus. We enjoyed it with a smile on our face that evening too. Both were very smooth drivers and greeted the passengers with a smile. Both displayed the top customer service that was possible. Thank you so much for having them with your organization. read more

By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My daughter and I try to travel by bike as much as possible, which once in a blue moon requires a bus jaunt. After tonight I will NEVER ride a LTD bus again so long as I live. My daughter and I caught the "EMX" bus on campus, and rode it to Springfield. We saw everyone just get on, no one bought or asked for tickets or paid anything to anyone, so we thought that it was free, like a shuttle. A few hours later, after dinner and our event was over, we rode bikes back to the Springfield EMX station, boarded, secured our bikes in the bus and sat down. A security guard came over and started making small talk with. As the bus closed it's doors and prepared to leave he abruptly said "Tickets?" I replied that I thought it was free. He said no, its 1.50 for you and .75 for the kid. So I pulled my wallet out and took out 3 bucks. He said, "No, you have to buy tickets, and pointed to a machine outside" So I jumped off the bus and began buying tickets (the machine wasn't far) when the bus driver *screamed* "get your bikes off or I'm taking them". I was dumbfounded. I tried one last time to get the stupid ticket machine to take the dollar. Literally 3 seconds later, the security guard hung out of the bus (which my daughter was still waiting on) "get your bikes and get off". I don't think I have ever been treated so disrespectfully, and in front of my kid. It was nearly 10pm on a freezing foggy night. This driver and security guard would not give us the human courtesy of waiting ten seconds. The next bus came in 40 minutes, we opted for the 8+ mile ride home in terrible weather on a dark bike path over giving these people a dime. read more
