Saginaw Vineyard - Part of tasting room in 120 year old red barn

This is my favorite kind of Yelp experience. I had no expectations coming here, knew nothing about…read morethe place and left blown away. Let's start with the facility. Located in an 120 year-old barn in cottage Grove, Oregon at the southern end of the Willamette Valley. This is a beautiful spot. There's a large gravel parking lot with tables and chairs outside for the perfect tasting experience during the summer and fall months. Inside there are a number of large tables and seating at the bar if you're not into meeting new people at your table. During my visit, the young lady, waiting on us was outstanding both in terms of her customer service and her knowledge about Saginaw wines, and wines in general. She made great recommendations to everyone who came into the tasting room. There are food options here with both a small and large cheeseboard, and some 10 inch pizzas. Both of these go very well as an accompaniment to the wine. I particularly liked the Malbec with the cheeseboard. There is also a Muller Thurgau white that is really good. A great German food wine, unusual to find in the US! I was there on a Saturday afternoon and the place was really buzzing by 4-5 pm as it filled up with locals. Very impressive wines that have won awards in Oregon. Their Pinot Niur is not the fruit bomb you find in California, but a very pleasant, light drinking wine with a bit of a spicy backbone, reminiscent of a Syrah. I REALLY enjoyed my visit and bought a bottle of the Muller Thurgau to share with my friends in Phoenix

We arrived late ( tip google leads you wrong search for Saginaw Vinyard, and not the address on their site ).vali and Jack were great, the wines we tried were winners. One taste of the Barn Red and bought a bottle to go with dinner. The night was peaceful and restful. We're already planning a return trip next year.

We got married at the House on Metolious last summer. I almost couldn't write this post because…read morewhere do I even begin. From the grounds (which are exquisite) to the service (unbeatable) - it was truly a weekend to remember. We rented out the entire property and all the cabins. Rachel and her family were there every step of the way- no detail was too small. On the night of our rehearsal, my dress broke. Her husband scavenged the property for 30 minutes to find the safety pins and rig me back together! Our friends never stop talking about this adult camp. It was such a fun way to spend time together. The property is stunning and our pictures look like they're from a magazine. They have great relationships with all the vendors which really helped smooth out the planning. And they always let you come back to say hi and revisit the property. I couldn't recommend a place more. We will certainly be back to visit and rent the cabins for our anniversaries!

This is the ultimate romantic get away! A surreal mountain resort experience. The rooms are large and some have cozy fireplaces. The Great Room had a large fireplace, along with a grand piano. The dinning room and lounge area was warm and relaxing also with a fireplace. Great for conversing and enjoying a delicious meal. They have 3 lodges and 3 cabins. The Main Lodge is immaculate. Speaking of meals, this place has amazing food! Catered to the brides's liking, the appetizers, lunch and dinner was an assortment of fresh green salads, roasted seasonal veggies, crab cakes, wild rice, roasted lamb and chicken skewers, roasted duck, grilled trout, pickled cucumbers and to top if off, continental breakfast was served every morning. This place is a foodie's heaven. If I lived near by, I would eat here once a week just for the homestyle cooked food! Just when we thought the afternoon reception was over, just after 6 PM, they served us the leftovers! I NEVER had this type of experience before! They also cater to special diets, for people like me with sensitive tummies. I felt spoiled and blessed to have had such unbelievable meals catered just for us! I feel so grateful to have this once in a lifetime experience and recommend House on Metolius to all those lovers of the great outdoors. Mahalonuiloa to Loy and Jade for attending our every need and the secret Chef (whoever she/he may be =)
