I'm tall and not skinny. Walked into Lan's basically saying "help me". She was able to get me a nice tuxedo for a wedding and found the right shirt / jacket / pants for the occasion. I needed a small adjustment on the right cuff she did it. I had some crude measurements but she knew what would fit because she is just that good. I went here to rent a tuxedo for my sisters wedding, a very important day for me and the lady working there was very nice and walked me through my options. I chose the premium slim black tux and bow tie and she guided me and took my measurements. Unfortunately when I picked the tux up I made the mistake of not trying it on in store. When I put the tux on the day of the event, I was shocked to find the pants were too short, and I am talking inches above my ankles and had to look for another pant option last minute for the big day as I didn't want to look like a clown for the photos. I did let the lady know and when I dropped them off and can acknowledge an honest mistake, but she did not apologize or offer a partial reimbursement options or anything which was disappointing. I did not want to cause an issue or make anything of it, but when you are paying close to $300 this was super disappointing. If the store owner chooses to make things right, I will remove this review. read more

Lan was so quick and efficient in getting me fitted with the whole suit package including suit jacket, pants, and shirt. It was good seeing what the 'look' would be like pre-alterations. The tuxedo selection was easy to navigate and transparently priced, with no extra charges for alterations. To top it all off, Lan was super friendly and easy to work with. I'm very happy to write this review. It's my first and last beauty pageant I'll ever do and so I needed my evening gown to fit like a glove on my body. And like any important event that's once in a life time, every detail is so important. I actually had two dresses altered from here because the first one, I'm a total idiot for, I order an XL because I never altered anything in my life and poor Lan had to deconstruct the whole dress to fit me because I'm a small... haha anyway it fit me but I decided to just get another dress that was closer to my size hahaha So she's skilled enough to deconstruct a whole dress and put it back together. Then the second dress she made suggestions to make sure I won't trip and fall on stage and she just made sure or circumstances of every angle that could happen. Well needless to say my evening gown was flawless and I'm just grateful she was looking out for me. Thank you Lan! Lan is a gem. I learned from speaking with her that she's been at it with her shop for almost 30 years. I walked in to get a tux rented for a wedding and she pulled me a perfect size tux just by looking at me. She was super nice during the whole process, gave her opinion when I asked her, and for the most part just wanted me to be happy with my style choice (shawl collar, pleated shirt) while also making sure I looked as good as possible. She was also super lenient on the pick up and return date. I felt like I probably could've held onto it for another week if I really wanted to. She's just a really nice person overall and I loved being able to support her business. Press - that's New Haven, holmes), but used tux that needed to be set correctly to rock at the SF Symphony's Black and White Ball. Glamorous night, oh how we drank, ate and danced...but that's another story. The fashion story - the actually printed in a magazine with my quote story, is that said tailored tux was called out in San Francisco Magazine. I gave all of my thanks to Lan, who fitted me so well that I felt like I was wearing something custom-made. Are you feelin' me? I made the mag with a used suit on, brotha! BRIDES, BEWARE!! I brought my wedding reception dress here to get the straps and hem shortened after reading the positive reviews for this place. Unfortunately, after the way Lan butchered my dress I am left with little option but to replace it. The straps had some beading but the dress itself was a crepe material, so I thought it would be a fairly easy job since the dress itself is fairly simple. The day I brought my dress in, I put it on so Lan can determine what alterations were needed. She pinned the front bottom of the dress in one spot for the hem, and guestimated that the straps needed to be shorten by one inch (without actually measuring or pinning anything). Trusting (and hoping) that Lan knew what she was doing, I thought, ok that was simple. She quoted me $100 for the job, which I thought was reasonable. I told her it wasn't a rush job so she asked me to come back two weeks later. Two weeks later, I went back to pick up the dress. When I first saw it on the hanger I thought something didn't look right. The hem looked totally uneven! But I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt; maybe it'll look different once the dress is on me. Unfortunately, when I put it on it was confirmed that the hem was COMPLETELY uneven. I showed Lan this and her excuse was that she cut the same length all the way around the dress (which to be fair is a little longer in the back since it has a subtle train). HOWEVER, it doesn't explain why even the front side was uneven. There was at least a 1"-1.5" difference in length between the bottom front left and bottom front right of the dress. (See pic.) The straps were also done very poorly; the stitching was messy and the back of my dress bulged where the straps were overlapped. (See other pic.) I expected way better for a professional who does this for a living. Lan asked me if she wanted me to fix it, and I flat out said no because I didn't trust her to do anything else to my dress. The worst part is that the shortest part of the hem is now too short, so even if I had it re-hemmed to all the same length it still wouldn't work. My options now are to either get shorter heels or just replace the dress altogether. I came here wanting to save a little bit of money, but just ended up wasting even more. read more

His dad flew in from Berlin and we literally had 4 days before the city hall ceremony. We did not want to waste time with Nordies (recommended by co-worker) and consulted yelp instead. Lan's business comes up at the top of the search and for so many reasons: she is helpful, efficient and steers you in the right direction for what you need on your special occasion. She also has several tuxes on display with the prices clearly marked, so for those of you who have no clue where to start, just point and ask to try it on. $110 for a tux rental which includes pants, tux, tie/bowtie, shirt and cuff links. Sweetest lady in the world! (If you don't think so, you probably don't know how to handle Asian grandmas and that's your fault lmao) I brought in five dress pants for alterations: 4 to be brought in at the waist and one to re-sew the hem. My total costs were $85. (Super cheap for SF!) Lan had all five pants fixed in a week and they fit PERFECTLY. Well... one of them did come out a little tight, but it's nothing a short abs workout can't fix. Quick, competent service + cheap prices? Nothing else I can ask for in a tailor!
