I found Taylor Stitch on IG. I was reluctant to purchase a gift online because I had never heard of Taylor Stitch. Once I had decided to purchase online, I waited too late to get it in time. When consider buying clothing online I always blow up the photo and look at the stitches, buttons and hard ward (I've been sewing for many years)...so I purchased it over the phone at the Valencia location. As a small business owner of over thirty years, I've learned that customer service is just as important as the quality of a product. Brian picked up on the second ring! I told him my situation and I was able to purchase it in about 1 minute. Brian promptly sent me the invoice via text. I told him my daughter works near TS and she would pick it up. Once she arrived there was no parking. I called and spoke to Brian again. I asked if he could run out and throw the bag in her car. He said he would! I describe her car, and gave Brian her name. Both times when talking to Brian I felt like he was more than happy to accommodate me (which he did). When my daughter got home with the product, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pants. They are beautiful! Some may think it's a little pricey but I think you get what you pay for and I can tell that this item will be worn for a long time. The only thing I must regrettably say is that the website wasn't as easy to get through or else I probably would have purchased shirts there too. I purchased A sweater from Taylor Stitch. I Always Wear An Extra Large In Sweaters and Everything Else. I even participated in a questionnaire provided by the company which concurred I was an extra Large. I tried on the sweater and it did not fit. When I contacted the company to change sizes their response was I was outside of the three week window to return/exchange. The tags were still on the sweater and it was never worn. I rarely write poor reviews, but this company is very expensive and refused to let me exchange a sweater that did not fit. Please think twice before doing business with this company. read more

Don't know why all the bad reviews. Maybe they don't have a kiss you butt customer service approach which doesn't sit well with the new mission hipsters.... I've always had a good experience. The thing here is really a quality vs. quantity issue. All of their stuff is made from very tastefully chosen materials and in most cases - designed to outlast most other items in your wardrobe - which justifies the prices - in most cases IMHO. read more

TLDR: I'm sad to give a lowish review to TS. The style has always been good, but it used to be SLIGHTLY pricey and made in the USA with good quality... but now it's half and half on quality and made in China. I'm mostly leaving this review to let management know how I wish they'd change. The TS website doesn't really allow for leaving reviews, it seems. Some of my favorite pieces of clothing are quality older Taylor Stitch pieces, mostly made in the USA. Great style, good quality stuff. But... this was years ago. I do like the idea of the workshop, but paying $88 for a thin pair of shorts that could have come off the rack at Macy's made in China? $98 for a thin shirt of the same quality you'd find at a department store? If it were USA made that would be one thing, but it's not anymore. Sure you can talk these products up, but they've got synthetic components a lot of the time and you can just TELL when something is well crafted. I don't care what the paragraph of features you put out is, I can TELL when clothes are well made. A lot of the new TS is not. As much as I love the design and colors, I think I'm done for a while buying. I would love to see state side manufacturing again. It's done by other companies and they charge at a slightly higher price point... which I'm FINE with... but at this price point for (even ethically run) overseas factories? It would have to be lower on a *lot* of these pieces. I think TS has gotten too interested in designing and pumping out clothes at good profit, which I can't blame them for at all, but it just makes me sad to not feel confident about ordering, anymore. read more

Shirts have always been good quality, if a little pricey. Worth getting a shirt or two if you in need of a style upgrade/quality shirt especially on sale.... Is what I would have said BEFORE they started manufacturing everything in China! What happened? The same shirts I have that were "Proudly made in California" are now made in China--with not even *that* much of a discount. *Clear* and *shameless* money grab. What a fall from grace. Can't support this company anymore. 2 stars instead of 1 just because the shirts they made before were ethically manufactured and of good quality. At least they tried? There's a sizeable event space to the side, suitable for private events of your own design, with plans for art openings, film screenings, workshops and more. Upstairs, I hear rumors of a barber outfit going in. And bringing it all together are the guys that run the place. Stand-up fellows. True urban gentleman. I stopped in this Friday and was greeted with a beer and a tour of the place. I left with a reversible bowtie, and paid for it via their iPhone (https://squareup.com/). The clothes are beautifully made, sourced, and emit a classic Americana that never goes out of style. The customer service? Painful. I have tried numerous outlets (messenger, email, phone call) to expedite a refund process. Each and every time, I am promised a timely turnaround; yet every time I have been disappointed with the lack of continued communication or follow thru. I'm not asking for my money back, just asking for credit to purchase a different item at TS. Considering how quickly coveted items sell out there, I have reason to be anxious. Please fix your Customer Service. It is doing the quality of your clothes absolutely no good. *Update: After emails, messages, phone calls, Taylor Stitch continued to kick the can down the road. Surely enough, the item that I had long been anticipating purchasing with my credit has sold out in my size. Because it is a Last Call item, there will never be any inventory again. Frustrating? The women support agents would much rather argue with a customer to prove they're right even when they're wrong rather than treat the customer with respect. I've been waiting for 3 weeks for an in-stock item to ship from the website. I placed my order 7/2/17. I emailed "Hayley Chill" in customer service on 7/5, 7/13 and 7/18 regarding the lack of shipping notifications. It was not until 7/18 that a label was generated but as of today, 7/19, the item still hasn't been recorded as picked up. I've never had service issues like this in the past. Its apparent my order was lost/not processed correctly and Taylor Stitch staff doesn't even have the decency to respond to my email asking what happened. I also needed some replacement buttons because their "Japanese Urea" ones broke on my chambray shirt and you can't find replacement in a sewing store. While they didn't manage to send my order, they did send me the wrong size buttons. Wrote them an email about that too. I think I've just made my last order. I have one workshop item on its way in late September but I'm sure I'll be sending emails again to try and get it. Ladies, there are plenty of other sustainable/made in the USA companies for women now that all have better customer service (ex. Suzann Elizabeth, Vetta Capsule, Tradlands), spend you money there. Terrible customer service. Ordered a pair of Moto Boots and the sizing made absolutely no sense. I normally wear a size 12.5 and their 12 was too large. Their 11.5 was too large. Then their 11 was too small. I sent these boots back for a refund and I received an email stating that they received my return and that I will see the refund in my account shortly "if not already". This was 8 days ago and I have neither received my refund, nor a response to my 3 emails. Terrible customer service. read more

This saga continued to be absolutely terrible. My boyfriend went in to buy a shirt and ask for his measurements (so he could get some other shirts tailored) and they printed out the aforementioned order and gave it to him - before he received the gift. Very clearly written on the order form was a note that this order should not be mentioned to my boyfriend. So instead of mentioning it to him they printed it out and handed it over to him. This brand tries incredibly hard to cultivate this hipster vibe, but their customer service is beyond a joke. They repeatedly messed this order up and really did not do anything to rectify the situation. I would strongly discourage anyone from spending money on custom orders with them. read more

I tried to contact Taylor Stitch about a shirt I bought. The button holes of my shirt were already coming unthreaded after two weeks. The shirt was otherwise nice and, I thought, durable. I expect this from Forever 21 and H&M, but these shirts should be higher quality considering the high price. My husband and I tried to get matching custom shirts made for our wedding. We got them back 3 times, each time ill-fitting and unwearable. We had to find other shirts last minute. I'm ONLY (generously) giving them 2 stars because the store manager did everything in his power to correct their factory's mistakes on the fly. He also reimbursed the payment. Too bad time and energy spent can't be replaced. At this point, I don't recommend getting bespoke shirts at TS. read more

My husband bought some shirts from them and had one shirt which was completely not wearable due to the shrinkage despite following the care label instructions. To get a human being to actually talk to in regards to this return was like searching for the holy grail- no phone numbers, no information and the phone number I eventually found was no longer operable. My brother in-law turned me onto this place since he was really into their basics section. After checking out their stuff online I went to their brick and mortar location in the Mission which has the majority of the stuff you see online as well as fabric swatches for custom shirts/suits and some local crafts they sell. I can't speak to the customer tailored clothing but their other items are quite nice. I really like their t-shirts and sweatshirts because of the great fit, quality of fabric and craftsmanship. Taylor Stitch makes good stuff, but they are really moving away from their roots. It used to be you'd pay top dollar for a top quality garment made in the USA. These days, you're still paying top dollar but a ton of their stuff is coming out of China. Come on guys... Customer service is good. Fit is unreliable. The 40 shirts fit me perfectly. I ordered a size 40 denim jacket and it was quite a bit snugger than the shirts. Then I ordered another jacket in size 42 for the extra room and it was even smaller than the size 40 jacket. read more

I bought a Gilt City Groupon for a custom Taylor Stitch shirt for my husband's birthday, so we decided to pop in last weekend. We had an awesome experience. My husband ended up walking out with one custom shirt, two shirts off the rack, and a t-shirt. I would not be surprised if he comes home with more when he goes to pick up his custom shirt. My husband has really long arms, so he's always wanted a custom shirt. But the off the rack Taylor Stitch shirts actually have longer sleeves than most, so he wouldn't necessarily need to go custom. But custom was so much fun! We were overwhelmed (in a good way) by the gazillions of fabulous fabric options. And the boys who run the place are adorable. Really sweet and helpful. And at least one of them is a graphic designer, so the aesthetic of the place is super chic. Loved everything about the experience. And my husband is psyched about his major sartorial upgrade. read more

Just came back 3.5 years later wearing the jeans I purchased. They have holes around the ankles but that's normal for all my jeans. I washed them with woolite dark inside out for the first 2.5 years to keep the color and eventually just started washing them like normal jeans. Just purchased a new pair of Italian selvedge denim. They said 1 week for free hemming, and they were done in the same day. Great service. read more

I had the minimal wallet in brown and have absolutely loved it. Over time with standard wear and tear, the pockets began to stretch, so I needed to hold it together with a rubber band. Since I loved the wallet so much, I messaged them to see if there was anything they could do. They are sending me a replacement wallet free of charge. This customer service is amazing. 4.25 stars. I am convinced that the Common is an epic sartorial black hole sucking in the contents of my checking and savings accounts. Of course, my complaints are limited because unlike other black holes, this one gets into the Christmas spirit and actually gives back. And the presents? Tellason raw denim jeans. Custom made Taylor Stitch shirts (which doubles as the only place in the world where you can get them). A collection of leather shoes and belts that drift one's mind back to yesteryear Americana in a pleasant way. One could easily construct the entirety of their casual menswear wardrobe from these select offerings. If you are like me, then the idea of constructing your own custom clothing without studying fashion might be a rather difficult one. Thankfully, the individuals running the store 1) clearly have a better eye than you do and 2) are willing to give a few tips without taking away the experience from you. Having said all that, I think it is best to study for a couple of hours and bring in at least two patient neutral observer friends before making a purchase. The prices here are legitimately steep, but they are incredibly cheap when you consider the fact that you are designing your own clothing. Also, if designing your own clothing is not your bag, they have a decent selection of finished products that you can buy straight off the rack. If you take the time to study colors and textures, then The Common is a great store for you. Even if you are a novice like myself, you can still create excellent choices that fit your own personality. If you are a guy that likes the idea of creating your own image, then there is no reason you should not visit this store. read more

I made two separate purchases from Taylor Stitch (first time customer) in May and June 2021. Rover (slate dry wax rip-stop) and Bomber (black dry wax). Both on Last Call and both were shipped within 48 hours of order. Both received within 5 days (the 2nd order came a day earlier than expected). Sizing (XL-44) on the jackets was exactly as the website indicated; fit across chest, sleeve length, shoulders all were a perfect fit for me (6' / 205 lbs). Material appears high quality and the stitching and finishing looks excellent. I am extremely happy with both jackets. My only experience with customer service was asking how to re-proof dry wax and I received a prompt (24 hours) reply. I have absolutely no issues with TS and will purchase outerwear from them again. read more

Clothes made for hipsters, by hipsters, in the Dogpatch. Friendly staff, nice denim, and an almost apologetic rack of not-made-by-them clothes to round out the selection. Their main focus is shirts; I came in looking for trousers, and found a few options that almost fit. They do all their pants in a 36" inseam with free hemming; this seems pretty reasonable to me, and greatly reduces the inventory requirements. As long as you're not in a hurry (hemming takes most of a week), this gives a lot of flexibility. I might be by for a tie next time... read more

One of the best businesses I've ever interacted with. I used to shop at the physical location when I lived in SF. Now I shop online as I live in Boston. They're incredibly accommodating when it comes to returns, complaints, refunds/ exchanges, most times going above and beyond for their customer. They sent me a christmas gift last year simply for being a past customer. Their products are extremely well made, and constructed to have a tailored fit, without the need for visiting a tailor. read more
