But the closest one is Bayland Park Drive or Dunlap Street. I often get confused with Burnett-Bayland Community Center, which is 3 miles away on Chimney Rock. I believe Bayland Community Center is one of the largest in the area because I've never seen a community center this busy. If you look at the group calendar online, we can see it's filled with meetings from Monday to Friday. No wonder this is one popular early election site. The polling entrance is near Bayland Geriatric Health Center. There are many parking stalls. I don't think you have trouble finding one. If you trampling through downtown streets, you'll see signs also say Chinatown. That is the Old Chinatown. In late 1980's, merchants moved from Old Chinatown to Bellaire Blvd settled as we see today. There are only few businesses kept their original name and original storefront from that time. You can find Tak Sing Hong 德信行 and Yuan Ten Restaurant 雲天烧腊麵家 at Metropole Center and Le Lai Restaurant 東江菜館 at Dynasty Plaza. People often use Dun Huang Plaza as Houston Chinatown. Granted, it is the largest and busiest shopping mall in Chinatown from dusk to dawn. In foodie scenes, you can say Chinatown consists of all restaurants on Bellaire Blvd from South Gessner To Beltway. Anything beyond that is called Little Saigon or Asiatown. Based on Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau tour book, Chinatown extends pass Beltway to Dairy Ashford Road in the west and to Fondren in the east on Bellaire. If you live in Houston for a while, you probably know Chinatown is one of the 88 Super Neighborhoods in Houston. This 2.37 square mile of land covers from Westpark in the north down to Beechnut and South Gesner from the east to Beltway in the west. Houston Chinatown is a fun place to be. No wonder USA Today named it one of the top 10 Chinatown in United States (in 2014).

It was named in honor of Tracy Gee, who was brutally murdered 35 years ago during a carjacking gone wrong. The purpose of the center is all about ensuring her legacy so that it remains a positive impact to the community. Open 6 days a week, the center offers a number of multi-purpose spaces from meetings to events and community gatherings. There are areas for study and also dedicated facilities for sports and recreational activities, which include a basketball court, a gymnasium, and an indoor playing field. They also host a number of local programs aimed at educational and cultural awareness, fitness and wellness, youth and family activities, as well as community meetings and events to oster civic engagement and cultural exchange. I've attended various meetings and also participated in various community events that have taken place in this very building. I have always appreciated that the staff working here is welcoming to all and truly embody all things community.

Came to pick up a family friend from camp with my own newborn and toddler in tow. After waiting in the carpool line I pulled up and proceeded to load them In. A young lady told me I can't stop but to just be quick so I continued. I'm not sure how you safely put kids in the car without stopping, so i didn't realize this was problematic. The next lady that approached me was extremely rude yelling at me that I can't do this and she's going to report it. I let them know I don't the system, but if they tell me a better option I would be happy to do it. There was no reason to be that rude. Politely offering a more appropriate solution would've been sufficient. Instead this lady was aggressive with me as I was juggling two toddlers and a newborn in the Texas summer heat. The last thing I wanted to do was slow down the line, but being nasty about it when the first young lady told me it was ok feels like her anger was misplaced. Unacceptable.

The location is great to the Meyerland/Bellaire and surrounding communities. The gym is filled with everything you need to get a great workout. They have a changing room, and also cubbies to hold your belongings. Electric machines, weights, cross fit equipment. They have personal trainers to help. Very clean facility, water on hand if you forgot your own and coffee. The gym has a spin room and a separate room for their many classes which include, body pump, yoga, Zumba, pilates, strength training, women only classes on hand and over 60 classes as well and many more. There is a monthly schedule listed online. I believe with the membership you also have access to the pool and they do have classes. The downfall is that they don't have a ton of evening classes for working folks, but there are some options. Most classes are in the morning to early afternoon. Overall I am very happy with this gym. People of all ages and all walks of life will be found here.

There are several entrances and it is not immediately clear which is the main entrance, but the staff are friendly and will direct you to where you need to go. There is a large parking lot to the south of the building. The double yellow lines on S. Rice Avenue do not align with entrances of the parking lot, suggesting the city needs to repaint those, as everyone who needs to turn left out of the parking lot does so illegally.

It has a library, swimming pool, soccer fields, basketball courts, and I believe there's a tennis court as well. Since it was already close to closing time at 8 pm, we didn't get a chance to go inside, but the facilities appear to be fairly new. There were quite a lot of people around, with families walking, kids playing sports, and people enjoying the different amenities. It was nice to see such a diverse group of people making good use of this public space. There's also a walking trail, so it's a nice place to bring the family or simply come by yourself for a leisurely walk, some fresh air, or a little people-watching. I didn't notice any public restrooms outside, though, so that's something to keep in mind. Overall, it seems like a great community facility and a nice place to spend some time outdoors.

It may have taken a few years, but the Alief Neighborhood Center finally came into fruition early…read morelast year to help revitalize one of Houston's most vibrant neighborhoods. For both outdoor and indoor activities, this is an incredible option for folks in the community. The space is substantial with a bevy of options that include a skatepark, swimming pool, tennis courts, an enormous children's playground, and lots of room for folks looking to exercise outdoors. It is a pet friendly area and a perfect destination for families, social gatherings, and even special occasions. Parking is abundant all throughout the property. The neighborhood center includes a gym + fitness center (#1), basketball courts, and indoor walking track. There are venue spaces for both adults and children for up to 25 people at no cost. There is also after school enrichment programs for kids, teens, and additional programs for seniors. There are volunteer opportunities and community development programming throughout the year. Because it's still fairly new, the facilities and everything are in good shape. Time will tell if they will be able to maintain it but for now it serves as an ideal resource for folks looking to get active and be a part of the Alief community.
