There is a catholic church across street. I'm sure they use this parking lot. The community center has multi-purpose feature. Guess what? I was here to cast my ballot during early voting in March 2020. I couldn't believe Langdale Community Center is one-and-only polling place in this zip code 77036 during Texas Primary Election. What I heard from the grapevine, people were scared to go to Chinatown because of Corona rumors in February. As stupid as it sounds, I was happy to explore other parts of city with opportunities than never before.

Thankfully, that's not what I was here for and there was no line for the County Clerk's office for renewal of Assumed Names/business names/marriage licenses. I had some hiccups with their signature machine that added an extra ~15 minutes because they had to restart with another clerk/computer, but otherwise the process went smoothly. I was out by 8:30 and I'm sure I could've been in and out in 15 minutes. They do not take tap or Apple Pay so keep that in mind. Also, cards must be in your name or have someone there whose name matches the card.

After roll initiatives and prayers for safe returns dinner was served. Later our men and women of color headed out for a long night of protecting and serving. Alan Rosen stopped by to give his words of encouragement for a prosperous night. This was my first opportunity to do a ride along and I was overcome with excitement to also serve our community. I rode with officer Brandi and it was a very eventful night. We had 7 traffic stops and 1 non life threatening crash with 1 arrest. Awesome night!!!!

I took a look at the gym and then I want to the computer room and use one of the computer for a little bit and there was a free eye exam next door and I sign up for it. It is a very nice community that can get a new upgrade soon I hope.

Edit: I contacted the city of Houston and they came out the next day to mow, clean and repair the…read morewater park! The park is full of happy kids :) I don't know what is going on with this park. They just opened a skate park and splash pad but there isn't any water on now. There is trash everywhere and the grass is high. I was here a few months ago and it was really nice. Seems it has been abandoned which is truly sad. It sits beside an orphanage type place. It should be a great community place and sadly is just being ignored.

Even if you check in early, you are probably going to be seen precisely at your appointment time. Fill out the renewal application online, print it out and bring it with you. Make sure to have any other necessary paperwork needed. For me, even though my Texas DL was issued initially way back in 1982 and obviously renewed continuously since then, I still had to bring either my birth certificate or my passport (one of those two documents was indeed requested when I was being helped). Renewal fee is $33 -- but cash is NOT preferred. Credit or debit cards are what is requested, so make sure you have one or the other. I remember years ago waiting in line for literally hours at the Grant Road office. When this office opened, it wasn't much better than the older, much smaller office, so I didn't see the improvement. They must have figured out how to streamline applications and renewals, because I was in and out in 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment. Thank you, DPS, for eliminating the nightmare we all used to endure.

We scheduled my oldest son for his driving test at the DPS office in Spring, TX. This location is…read moreby appointment only, and they check that as soon as you enter. There's a kiosk to check in using your phone number or barcode, and forms available if needed. We checked in easily and waited. The office is huge--tons of seating and 40+ desks. Our 12:30 appointment started a little late due to system-wide internet outages (which they announced, offering vouchers to return another day). We decided to stick it out. After switching desks due to a tech issue, the second employee was kind but hard to understand behind the plexiglass. Still, he got everything scanned, fingerprints done, and sent us out for the test. The driving test went smoothly, and my son passed! Funny moment--there was no parking when they returned, so the instructor had him park in a spot reserved for a trooper. The trooper knocked on the window, but the instructor intervened, saving him from a ticket. No one likes going to the DMV, but this experience was efficient, mostly smooth, and positive despite the tech hiccups. Four out of five stars--drop the plexiglass and it might be five.

It was during early voting and it was pretty crowded. The line inside the building snaked around the whole place. There appear to be offices in this building, so I would imagine the hoards of voters could have been disruptive on a weekday (I voted on a Sunday). Anyway, the parking garage is kind of hidden behind the building and not easy to maneuver in when it's crowded. The building itself is old and filled with stereotypical depressing government furniture and decor. All in all, voting here was a good experience. I'd do it again.

I normally don't write reviews but in this case I had to! Cornerstone Community Center SAVED my…read moredaughter. She was off into some recreational things and we tried to hard to help her. It was difficult at times. My husband and I was about to give up. But Cornerstone never gave up on her. She was selected for program and at first, I thought they were just some people who going to get our hopes up. But Anastacia worked with her, held her accountable, and 1 year later my daughter is sober. She has been working consistently for year and has weekly visitations with kids. Thanks Cornerstone for all you've done.

Bailiff was stern as he should but the women at the front office are somewhat clueless. If people are supposed to check in with you, be at the front checking them in & not sitting at your desk looking at them like they're on television. GOOD Customer service is at an all time low...FRFR. NEVER in my time of going to court has the judge been late. It's now 10:15, my lawyer has dealt with the prosecutor & we're "waiting on the judge, SHORTLY" over an hour ago. Normally I wouldn't trip but the fact that I have a VA appointment at 11am that I'm probably going to miss is ridiculous...

It's a small town city hall, with ample parking and a lot of different services all in one place…read more Unlike Houston, where there are multiple courthouses and permit centers, everything is located in one large building with various wings here. Thankfully, I haven't had much reason to go visit here, but on the trips I have made, the police department is next door, there's a nice city council meeting chamber near the main entrance, and the hallways are well decorated. Everything is clean and well maintained.
