It often seems like we, the tax paying citizens, are, "asking too much," when we attempt to use the services that our tax dollars pay for, but today, I feel like Ronnie went above and beyond to try to be of assistance to me. I was not calling the right department for the information that I was needing, but he spent the time to go over some of the services offered specifically by the county and specifically by the city. He was very informative and you could tell that he takes pride in his position to serve his community. His assistance will save me so much time in the future, and it will probably save my surrounding counties some of their man hours as well! Updated June 5, 2026…read more Came in Tuesday 3:00pm and was seated last in a long line of chairs. Apparently a very busy afternoon but I barely made it in to reception by 4pm. Receptionist reviewed my forms then said copy of passport was needed! Lesson learned: have extra copy of passport or documents just in case. Returned on a Friday 2:30pm. Surprisingly no line, receptionist promptly waved me to come in. Reviewed my forms then offered to process visa exemption while I wait outside. I took the offer, went back outside to waiting room. 20 minutes later, heard my name called to go back in and take the passport with the 5 year exemption sticker. Lesson learned: come in early right after 2pm and perhaps go on a Friday for potential short line.

The parking lot in the front is a but small so if you do not see any parking space, don't worry as they have a bigger parking lot. Once you come inside if you already know where to go, you do not need to check in at the front desk. There is a library here with lots of Chinese books. There usually some sort of activity here. There are class rooms upstairs and on the first floor and I did not see an elevator to the second floor.

I was directed by the TECO Los Angeles office to contact the Houston office regarding my entry permit. I am currently transitioning from OPT to an F1 visa for a Houston-based school starting in August, so I simply needed to clarify which office had the proper jurisdiction to process my application. I left a polite voicemail briefly explaining my situation. A female staff member called me back and immediately began verbally attacking me. Bizarrely, she aggressively interrogated me about why I didn't leave my phone number in the voicemail--despite the obvious fact that she had found it and was actively calling me back on that exact number. When I calmly and politely tried to ask whether LA or Houston should handle my case, she escalated her abuse. She spoke with a shocking level of arrogance and hostility, telling me that "people like you shouldn't go to Taiwan" and telling me to just "cancel the trip." She went out of her way to say that I am unqualified, that TECO LA wouldn't help me either, and that I simply do not "deserve" to apply for the permit. I called seeking basic administrative guidance and was met with unwarranted personal insults and blatant discrimination. This is an embarrassing and shameful display of unprofessionalism for a representative office. No applicant should ever be subjected to this kind of verbal abuse and superiority complex.

There is a catholic church across street. I'm sure they use this parking lot. The community center has multi-purpose feature. Guess what? I was here to cast my ballot during early voting in March 2020. I couldn't believe Langdale Community Center is one-and-only polling place in this zip code 77036 during Texas Primary Election. What I heard from the grapevine, people were scared to go to Chinatown because of Corona rumors in February. As stupid as it sounds, I was happy to explore other parts of city with opportunities than never before.
