This is a great spot to find traditional Lao Street food. Everything is made fresh to order and you can taste it. I ordered the shrimp summer roles and they were THICK and excellent! My husband got the sweet sticky rice and mango. The mango was ripe and sweet and the rice added a good balance. Being a Lao girl, I am always trying to find my comfort foods close to home and I can definitely see this location becoming that for me. The owners were kind and made comforting conversation. This location is half cafe, half convenience store. The entrance is on the inside of the mall, opposite of the parking lot. Locally owned little shops in the Waianae mall. Here you can find prepped food, snacks, fresh fruits and veggies and a few shelf items. The are fresh and delicious, bought some greens here for my squash soup and I could tell by the end of the stem just how freshly picked they were. I did a phone order for the cold noodle chicken salad. By the time I got there it was ready to go! The veggies were nice and fresh and the sauce complimented everything well. After reading previous reviews about this new lil boba spot I had to drop in while at the mall for a Longs run, who can say no to boba and Laotian food. I got the Brown Sugar boba, fresh and still warm taro and banana mochi rice along with some veggies from their veggie stand. Next time I'm going to try the food menu items. Love this place I mean I go in for a boba drink and walk out with my vegetables for the week. Not to mention all reasonably priced. Service was great, super friendly, very informative and fast. And yes since this COVID19 pandemic more people are on EBT so I had to ask if they're accepting EBT for their farmers market side because that would draw more people in the door. Trust me word would spread so fast. But she said not at this time tho she is trying and hopes the business gets approved. My visit was about 4 weeks ago. The rice paper is perfectly thin, tender and stuffed full of refreshing crunchy veggies. My favorite is the combo, shrimp and lightly seasoned ground pork, I crave it constantly. The Lao Beef Salad is the crown jewel of the menu, chock full of fresh tasty veggies, topped with thin sliced beef and a bonkers-delicious sauce that is so perfectly savory and flavorful! I've been here a few times and everything has been great! Fresh produce: I love the options and prices! They always have a nice variety, but I have been there when there was limited options. So if your looking for something particular I would call. Potatoes, apple bananas, cilantro, avocado, tomotes, green beans, green peppers, and more. Drinks: my favorite is the pineapple tea. The large is a lot so it's good to share or leftovers. It is sweet but I like that! And the diced pineapple is amazing! The brown sugar with boba very sweet! But so good! Again the bigger size is a lot for me to finish. Food: I love the summer rolls and the peanut sauce is the best I've had! The sandwich was good, fresh topping and bread. We had the shrimp & pork summer rolls, sticky rice with taro wrapped in banana leaves, blue papillon flower tea, sorrel flower tea & Thai coffee. The teas were so good & refreshing... and tasted fresh & healthy too - not overly sweet. Both food items were excellent! The owner was so nice, and gave us a free sticky rice. Yummy! This place just opened in between Jeans Warehouse and the Chinese takeout place at Waianae Mall. There is also a lot of parking. When you walk inside, they have distance stickers on the ground. There's a limit of 10 people inside. They sell vegetables like a farmers market and Laotian food. I bought a shrimp summer roll ($7.50) and a small Maui Gold Pineapple Honey Tea ($6.00). The tea was really good. It wasn't overwhelming, it was just right. I want to let everyone know they close mon-Friday at 4:30pm. I confirmed this with the owner this week I came in at 4:25 and the owner was packing everything up. I showed her on yelp the time is 5pm, but she doesn't have access to the yelp account only Instagram and Facebook. She still let me come in and I bought the same things I always do. I showed up to this place right at 9am, hungry and ready to order. I was disappointed as they had a sign that said they wouldn't be open until 12pm on that day. That didn't discourage me and I went back in the afternoon around 2pm. I ordered the papaya salad, beef salad, pate sandwich, pineapple honey tea, banana sticky rice and taro sticky rice. Their sticky rice was amazing. 5/5 they were perfect blend sweetness from the rice to the banana. I was born in Burma and I haven't had that type of dessert since I've been back. And it was great! Their beef salad was so so. 3/5 It lacked taste and did not kick a punch. I expected Lao salads to be full of fermented shrimp paste, fish sauce, spices, and sourness. But it was none of that. I was very disappointed. I had to go home and add more salt to it and more hot sauce. Their papaya salad was also a disappointment. 1/5 Contrary to all the other reviews, It didn't taste like much at all. Their shrimp tasted old, their papaya tasted chemically. And overall a bad experience. The container also leaked onto my lap as I was eating due to a crack on the bottom. We had to throw it away immediately. Their pate sandwich was 3/5. The fillings were good but the bread could've been more toasted and less stale. Their tea was a bit on the sweater side than I would've liked. 3/5 I really wanted to like this place and to come back for more. I was so excited to see a new spot for summer rolls open in Waianae. I had to go check it out ASAP! Lao Sticky Rice is located in the Waianae Mall where the tackle shop used to be. Half of the shop holds fresh vegetables and the other half is where the food is. If you are familiar with Waianae Farmers market you will be happy to know it is one of the vendors and her family that owns the business! The summer rolls were so crisp and refreshing along with the peanut sauce. They have a couple options other than shrimp as well... chicken, pork and I think tofu. I opted for the shrimp and chicken. So good! I also ordered 3 taro mochi in banana leaves and a sorrel flower tea. I honestly thought I would eat just one of the mochi but I had to have another one! The tea was cinnamony and sweet with a touch of ginger. Move over Starbucks tea, this is now my new favorite! As much as possible I want to support local businesses so I noticed their sign "fresh vegetables " so I thought I should check them out and these are the same vendors I use to buy from at Waianae Makeke open market but since covid began the Mekeke open market stopped but I'm glad I found them because their vegetables are home grown locally. They also had a snack area with Lao sandwich & different salads & desserts and let's not forget their teas. Today I decided to have their sandwich & dessert.
