Small but just what this strip of shops needed…read more I've stopped here twice, now, and have been pleasantly surprised at the amount of produce available. Nothing unusual, if you are familiar with a Thai diet. Tomato, apple banana, papaya, shredded green papaya, and the like. The shelves also hold a fair selection of noodles, cookies, and curry pastes. Again, nothing out of the ordinary. This is a tiny market, but is a welcome sight in Waipahu. The Festival Marketplace is less than a mile away, but is a nightmare to park and just too busy for me to shop in most days. This market will draw a different group of customers, as well, many of them just walking by. It is tucked around the corner from the library and government building, and just behind Arby's. I pass this shopping center a few times a day, and rarely had reason to stop. I'm glad that this has changed. I wish the owners well, and hope that they profit in this location.

As far as I could see there were two tents with fruits & veggies, grinds 2 da max truck, a beef jerky tent, garlic shrimp tent, dried fish tent and ocean dim sum. I'd say if you work in the area it's not bad to come and browse, maybe pick up some lunch/snacks. Otherwise it's not really something I'd make a point to make a special trip for. Totally off subject, but the smell of the area was very refreshing! Like citronella, reminds me of natural bug repelants we use!

On our most recent visit we bought some random produce for super cheap (of course) and also stopped at the Soak 'n Smoke vendor who sells fresh fish blocks or cooks fish filets in front of you to make a plate lunch. The Ono sautéed in garlic butter was super yummy! He also sells smoked meats and dried aku which I wanna try next time. The Hawaiian Style Chili Co. is usually there as well, but they usually setup after 11a so we missed them last time. We did try their scampi, ahi steak, and roast pork once, which were pretty good. The Ocean dim sum guys are always setup early, but after a few tries, I'm not sure I'd go back for more. This is the same folks in Waipahu, at their brick and mortar next to Thelma's. It's not the best dim sum, but I guess it's okay if you're hungry! It was a little sketchy to see shrimp look fun rolls out in the open...I would pass on that. We'll be back again soon to get produce for the week, and hopefully try a different food item next time!

At every party I went to for families, they ALWAYS take your trash. But, when it's a school, they act totally different. Such as not even grabbing your trash. Tis the season for graduation parties......falalalala...lalalala…read more..... I attended yet another graduation party this past weekend at this venue. The Hawaii Okinawan Center is located in Waipio Gentry and is easily found by either traveling on Kam Highway or the H-2 Freeway. However, I would probably recommend a route via Kam Hwy for convenience reasons. The party I attended was in the Legacy II ballroom, of which the entrance faces the parking lot. I later discovered that the Legacy Ballroom is actually 1 huge ballroom, and it was divided into 2 separate areas on this evening as another party was taking place in the other half. Incidentally, the side where the other party was taking place was larger and had a stage as well. Although the portion of the ballroom where our party was held was much smaller, I liked the high ceilings so there was the illusion that the room was slightly big and grand. I believe there were about 18 tables (seating for 10) set up for the party, but since this section was smaller, there wasn't much room to have more tables set up if the need arose. Food and drinks were provided by A Catering Experience, which (from what I was told later that evening) is the catering division if Zippy's. The food served to guests at the party included Chinese chicken salad, assorted fruits, rice, noodles, fried chicken, roast pork, mahimahi, and adobo (which most of us thought it was sweet and sour pork). Besides water, fruit punch (very watery!), coffee, and tea was also provided. Lastly, the banquet staff was very gracious, polite, and kind. I was very impressed with the attentiveness of the staff that night, and their quality service contributed to a wonderful evening spent with friends and family. PARKING: FREE parking available in the HI Okinawa Center lot. First come first serve. Bottom Line: Clean venue. FREE and ample parking.

Get there early because when I visited, they sold out. They've got some real fresh seafood, beautiful and plentiful. The food court area has anything you'd imagine for a quick lunch and their desserts from every vendor was delicious. I was able to get all the veggies, protein, and sauces in one place and each vendor was so friendly and helpful. Parking is kind of tough 'cause the days that get busy, I've found myself parked down the street. Otherwise, the whole area is clean, open spaced, and easy to find anything you'd need.

They have at least five vendors selling veggies to fruits to fish at their stands. All of them are cash only. Would I recommend it? Well yes if you're in the area looking for your weekly veggies. I especially like the vendors closer to the grassy area because they sell sweet potatoes, napa, apples, oranges and other goodies. Yummmy!

There are a few different places to eat and they were really good. They need to expand and get more vendors.
