Lunch in Kapolei, O'ahu, Hawai'i... After I visited the Social Security Administration Office, I walked across the street to the Honu Açai food truck. It was a wonderfully sunny day with a cool breeze! I sat at a picnic table with bench that had a great view of the customers and the great service by Wes. Wes is very friendly and thoughtful. He would make each order by himself and deliver to vehicles parked on the other side of the road. I ordered the Pono Bowl and substituted banana for kiwi - no extra charge. Wes offered to top it for free with Nutella or Condensed milk if I was an Instagram follower... yes, I am! Nutella, please! The strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi were sweet and fresh! My Bowl was beautiful and filling! The honey and Nutella were perfect compliments to the granola! I'll be back! read more

Took a ride to the Westside. Stopped in at Honu Acai. Wife wanted to get a couple of Acai bowls. Wes the co-owner is friendly and treats his customers with heartfelt service. Today we had our regular bowls. One was the Honu and the other was the Akala. Both were delicious. Notice that he started selling fresh squeezed lemonade in two flavors. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world that I got the best Acai on island in my neighborhood. I got a Pono bowl with almond butter and it was quite literally melting in my mouth. My sister got a BYOB with papaya and mango and it was so ono. The guy who works there really stays on his grind and makes sure to give you quality service. I was also talking to him about raving and he's just overall a cool guy. Their instagram is popping so make sure to give them a follow as well for free Nutella topping they also donate some of their proceeds to sea turtles which is awesome!! Finally I found this cute truck and came:-) It was located by Kapolei library. I went there like 1pm, weekday afternoon. I ordered 2 pono açaí bowls small size. It said every bowl save a sea turtle!!! It was to go and needed lid so the owner put in medium cup for to go cup with lid! I appreciate it. It was simple acai bowl with banana, strawberries and blueberries with honey and granolas. Granolas are chewy type not crunch type. I love simple acai bowl and it was delicious. Saw this on the channel 2 news this morning and we decided to go. Talk to one of the owners he's name is Wes. And he thanked us for coming and seeing the segment on TV. Told him we like acai bowls and theirs look great. I ordered the" pono" and my husband ordered the "akala" if you see my pictures it shows what's in it. Also on the surf board menu on their truck. Been seeing Honu Acai on Instagram a lot and been meaning to give them a try! I finally did today! Not disappointed. Small trailer right outside of Kapolei Regional park, across from the library. Small, regular, and large bowl options with plenty of topping options. The gentleman working (didn't get his name but Hi!) was so lovely. This Açaí food truck is super cool!!! They said they just recently opened and I wished they would've opened years ago. I've tried açaí bowls from numerous locations throughout Oahu over the years and although many of them are fairly good, this Açaí food truck stood out. They explained the process they use and it seems like they are doing it right. The taste, flavor, and fullness is above reproach!!! They really fill the bowl full and have lots of standard toppings depending on which bowl is ordered and a lot of additional toppings to choose from for mainly $1.00 (a couple of toppings are $2.00). They top each açaí bowl with a green turtle and I asked why they do or what's the meaning and they explained they will be making donations to locate turtle rescue organizations - so cool to know I am helping them to help out. They also explained HONU is turtle in Hawaiian, hence their name. Their food truck also has a Hawai'i License Plate painted on the back to take selfies with and post on Instagram or social media and their trailer is painted a cool color scheme also!! Very neat concept, great attention to detail and such care and enthusiasm they have!!! Also, they have a punch card (I guess maybe a VIP card) and each bowl you order gets a letter on a "turtle" and the 10th bowl is free - what a nice concept to also know they value their regular customers (and I'm sure all customers).
