This place was steps away from my Airbnb. All the items were visually stunning.I got some baklava, some financier cookie, and a rhubarb pouch thing. All of them were on the extremely sweet side. Not sure if they were meant to be looked at and not eaten. Only one I really enjoyed was the financier cookie. It was light and paired nicely with a cup of hot tea.

La Mosquée - Meatball tagine (left) and carrot and eggplant salad (right)

I visited La Mosquée on a Rick Steves' recommendation, and it was such a unique dining experience…read moreon our recent Paris trip. The restaurant, set inside a stunning mosque across the street from Jardin des Plantes, is hard to miss. I had made a reservation for an early dinner, and we were seated inside the mosque. Upon arriving, we actually had to find a new table since the restaurant's resident cat was sprawled across the couch, taking an afternoon nap. When we were settled in, we ordered the tagine with beef meatballs; couscous with chicken; and eggplant and carrot salad. Everything paired so well together. The tagine was incredibly flavorful - it tasted as if it had been simmering for hours. The couscous, stew, and chicken all arrived on separate platters - it was a little awkward to serve, but the sum of parts was delicious. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the vegetable stew was the optimal accompaniment. The tangy carrot and eggplant salad provided a source of brightness to the meal. Dining in the beautiful setting of the mosque-restaurant added to the overall charm of the experience.

Fantastic little place to relax and enjoy a glass of their famous mint tea and their sweets…read more I was coming back from my tour of the Catacombs when it started to drizzle so I ducked into this cafe to get a snack and beverage. The mint tea is probably their most famous drink and I see why it is. Perfectly sweetened, served in a glass but it is warm; don't try to chug it. There is a wide selection of sweets. Once you pick your table, a server will come with beverages. Then you can walk back to the entrance of the cafe and pick your sweets. The garden itself is very private and relaxing, away from the street noise. It was a nice little corner of heaven.

Missing pictures…read more... Quality/Quantity - Just follow the line. Just look for the longest and busiest line and it will be there. Actually, there are two lines, one for take away (on the left) and one for sit down. Both lines are just as long, but the take away moves much faster. Fairly organized. For the take away side, an employee takes orders while you wait in line, to expedite the process. (If you are from CA, think of an In and Out burger drive thru business model). Overall the food is good and reasonably priced. And great advertising seeing everyone walk around with your "sandwiches." Ambiance - Crazy busy. Both inside and outside. But plenty of employees (again both inside and outside). Fairly organized considering the volume. Service - Good. Price - Reasonable.10-15 Euros for a pita sandwich. $11.60 to $17.50 US. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1978.

While out on a self-guided walking tour I found myself in the old Jewish quarter of Paris…read more Fallafel joints appeared plentiful but only L'As du Fallafel screamed out as the one to dine at. On first pass, there was a line at the take-out window. When I returned to dine in, there was a rather significant line there as well. My party of 2 was apparently the magic number because they had us stand in the front of the line and we were seated inside almost immediately. The food here is served so rapidly that I seriously doubt anyone needs to wait long as there's a constant turning of tables. Schwarma and Fallafel and whatever else we consumed here was so fresh, delicious, and satisfying that I tried coming back here again the night before leaving Paris. Unfortunately for me, they close early on Shabbat, so I had to be satisfied with my single visit. Outstanding experience, delicious food as over 2,000 reviews already attested to.
