They sold me a lemon & refused to back their product.. I bought a 2016 WRX from them, which i paid well over 25 thousand for back in February of this year.. Engine oil was full and clean when i got it.. Not even 2 months & 2600 miles later my engine spun a rod bearing with the oil still full.. I contacted General Manager who ignored me for A WEEK AND A HALF before FINALLY telling me, him or the owners of Lapin Motor Company are not willing to help me in any way.. their cars are sold with no warranty of any kind. Not even 3 months.. not even to the next oil change.. Now, my engine is disassembled in my garage and i am left with a worthless car and having to rebuild this engine myself.. If it sounds too good to be true, then it is. These people are great at making the sale.. friendly, knowledgeable, come off as honest. We had a great experience during the buying process. The issues started after we signed the dotted line. We did a trade-in and Lapin failed to close out our trade-in car account by the time they said they would. Gave us the run around for two whole months without returning our calls and caused nothing but issues on our end. We were promised work/parts replacement to be done on the car as part of the sale and they tried to get out of doing it. Told us that no one agreed to this and we would have to pay additional costs (luckily we had this work written into the contract before signing). I initially had no intention of leaving a poor review, because at the end of the day everything was resolved. But a year and a half later this company has the audacity to call us telling us they're getting ready to put us into collections for not paying the down payment. Saying they haven't gotten around to "cleaning out their records" until now which is why they hadn't reached out earlier. We for a fact paid the down payment and have bank statements to prove it. Where to start...these clowns kept my girlfriend and I waiting around for eight hours for financing approval, and ran our credit multiple times...despite having a credit score over 800 and a yearly income of over $200,000. The tall bro with the tattoos on his arms was talking a mile a minute and acting like he was coked up: I worked for over half a decade with drug users in a professional context, I know that demeanor when I see it. Literally all of their Evo 8/9's in stock that day had poorly repaired severe crash damage except for one, yet had no records of repair and clean titles. I saw bent c-pillars on all but one of them that day. Google the owner's name. You'll see some scandalous things about when he ran a car lot under a different name. Beyond that? I went to a dealership in Tigard and walked out with the keys to the evo I currently own in a couple hours for $5000 less than they wanted for theirs. So I know that their problems getting me financed have everything to do with Lapin, and nothing to do with me. read more

Also no replies to my query through the Autotrader website either. I work for a living. I can't answer my phone at work. I hate playing phone tag. If I'm willing to drive from hours outside of town, a business should be willing to reply to a simple email and answer basic questions. Unfortunately I had an awful experience at your facility this weekend that I wanted to share with you as I'm sure you will be as equally disappointed as I am. I came to you guys thinking that I would be treated with respect but I was gravely disappointed. On Thursday morning, I came in to look at a Forester. Not only was I show multiple times the wrong Forester, in what felt like was on purpose to get me to buy something more expensive, but I never got to see the car I wanted to see in the first place. I ended up really liking a black Forester and told the finance officer who had been working on my loan that I was most interested in that one that I couldn't really afford it. I was listening to one of the owners talk to a saleswoman about how much you guys care about your customers and reputation, thinking, gee, I found the place to buy from! The finance officer decided to reduce the price and work out a loan payment for me So I could buy the car as I'd already been approved and was looking to buy very soon. However, the car was out of my range and I wanted to talk to my husband. Friday morning BEFORE you guys opened, I emailed saying yes, I want to buy this car and how do I proceed. Since I didn't get an email back very quickly, I called and spoke to Kam. Kam asked if I could come pick up the car today's but I couldn't due to traveling and needed to come Saturday at 6. He said that was fine and I thought I would be picking up my new car today. I asked very clearly if you guys needed anything else to me. He said no. I asked if you wanted my bank info today. Initially he didn't say I would need that but then said it was a good idea. There was NEVER a mention of a down payment needed or risk of someone else buying the car. Today I drive home early from my camping trip and call, to find out the car was sold. Meanwhile I had been raving about how great your shop appeared to be and the customer service. Instead I am told that you guys tried to call me yesterday (while I was out of service) and decided to sell the car to someone else. When I spoke to your manager, he Was borderline yelling on the phone while I was emotionally explaining how disrespected I felt. He tried to make me feel like it was my fault by saying I didn't put down a deposit (which I was never told I needed to). On top of that, I would never talk to an upset customer the way he talked to me. That being said, you guys could have still kept me as a customer and offered something (not that I want anything), but that was never even mentioned. I said on the phone all I wanted was for you guys to be more clear with future customers that in order to hold a car that you need a deposit. That is all. Would that have been told to me I would be driving out of your lot happily with a new car. Now I'll be going elsewhere and can't recommend your facility. read more

Told my fiance he was approved for 2500, get there they said they want a extra grand. Said they would break it up in payments, then proceed to never return my calls, so apparently don't want to get paid. Keep in mind, they STILL havent communicated the payments or the plan. I have blown them up and have proof of how many times Ive had to call. So then, we drive it out the lot and a week or so later throwout bearing needs to be replaced, clutch needs to be replaced, misfiring code after finding blown fuses. Called to ask how they can assist with fixing these issues as we already overpaid them to begin with. Service manager said "how can I know you know how to drive a manual? You could have blown it up the same day." Honestly what kind of comment or service is that. Said they would have to charge us to fix it? So unprofessional! Absolutely ridiculous. ON TOP of all of this and more, we still dont have the plates or title. Temporary plate expired and we now cant drive it. Already had run ins with cops. Took two days to get someone to just send out a set of temp trip plates. These people are such a joke. I wanted to wait a while to post this before we went gung-ho and just talked about the experience; because you're not paying for the experience to buy the car.. you're buying the car. You have a lot of choices these days on who/where you can buy your car from, so let's dive into why I thought Lapin was a good choice for anybody. My brother in law purchased a Subaru from Lapin about a year prior to us buying our vehicle. I never had heard where he bought it from, only that he was happy with the car and experience. We arrived to look at a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel. The staff was extremely friendly and transparent and allowed us to go over the truck with a fine toothed comb on my own time. They could tell I knew a thing or two about these trucks (I've owned 9) and tossed me the keys and said we'll be over here if/when you needed us. After looking it over we had decided this was in the running, but we had other trucks to look at. Upon telling Joel this, he insisted we took their truck to go look at the other trucks to compare and he even sent one of their employees to fill the truck with diesel. He didn't have to do that at all, but the transparency and trust this instilled in me resonated the whole drive to the next dealership. We ended coming back close to closing, we were treated fairly, with the utmost respect, negotiated our price, Joel even AGAIN went above and beyond with the down required for the sale as we hadn't brought enough. Fast forward to now, 14 months later, the truck has been a joy. There were a few maintenance items we did not for see but that's out of anybody's control. With some fresh wheel bearings and a water pump on her and a new set of tires... for the price and experience I say Lapin knocked it out of the park with their sales experience. 10/10 I will always consider Lapin for our next purchase and will always continue to recommend them to my friends and family. This was one of the quickest and easiest car buying experiences I've encountered. We came here knowing what we wanted and immediately were handed the keys and told to go take her for a spin. No dealer with us, just my wife and myself so we could really see how it felt, stop and look under the hood, etc. and you around with new electronics. After we arrived back at Lapin, Joël greeted us and we began the financing process. Tristan than took over for this part and was very professional, keeping us updated along the way. It took about two hours from this point to get everything signed, which was great. The car was scheduled for a detail and minor door ping fix but we were headed out of town the following morning so they just wrote a "we owe" contract so that we can get that done when we return. All in all a smooth car buying experience for a vehicle that came with a dealer paid Carfax that showed this auto was local and well cared for. Will look to Lapin again in the future. read more

Just know that they are "tell you what you want to hear" salespeople. They're all young men, and I'm sure many sales go fine, but they definitely lied to me a few times. I test drove a car, let em know it had weird engine noises, Matt told me he'd send it in to the shop and call me. He didn't, and when I called back the next day they hadn't sent the car in. Cam then told me he would send it in a call me. He didn't do either of those things, and when I called back in two days, they'd sold the car. Again, it may well have been a unique situation, but they definitely did not call me back or take actions that they specifically told me they would. So, just watch out for that and follow up often. read more

We live 3 hours away from their dealership and we did all the boring car buying process stuff over the phone with Kyle who really made it a smooth transaction. Once we got to Portland, the car was love at first sight. It was sitting in front waiting for us to take a test drive. After that, it was just sign the papers and we were off! The car did originally have bald tires and a broken key and Lapin Motors went above and beyond to fix it. They put brand new tires on the 4-runner and also found a locksmith local to me to accommodate my new key. The manager was rude and unprofessional when I asked for a market price for the GTI. He did go on to apologize profusely, but didn't offer an appropriate discount on the asking price in the end. I bought a Honda from them immediately I realized the odometer wasn't working I made several attempts to contact them they would never respond or they take a message nobody gets back to you and when you go down there the manager is never available unless he's gonna make money off of you when I talked to the owner he said there was nothing I could do about it I said it's illegal to sell a car when the odometer is not working you are required to disclose the correct miles and disclose that the odometer is not working I also told him the car had several problems well he told me to bring the car down and he was gonna fix the car and make sure it was checked from head to toe and he was gonna pay for the repairs well nobody could tell me what was done but only something small because I took the car in after and the car had a major problem with the power steering that was gonna cost 1200to fix and I was told when I picked up my car to bring it back in a week because there was a wire harness that was ordered but would be in no longer then a week well I contacted them and again I was ran around I called and called same game nobody knew nothing I couldn't talk to the people repairing my car I never was told much of anything it was horrible especially giving the circumstances I had explained that I really needed a dependable car because I had lost my son and they just did me wrong I thought so much of them when I went to go see the car they treated me like gold but they stressed to me to give them a good review right away and I did but I had to change it because I was played for a fool read more

Do not trust these people. I am in the process with my lawyer on filing a lawsuit on this company. Here is what happened. I was trying to sell my car, and one of the sales persons, I was told his name is Mitch, was interested in my car. I haven't had contact with him personally, only with one of his outside contractors that found my car ad on Craigslist. We texted over the phone and they were interested in buying my car. We were set to meet up and get everything arranged and signed and official. A day later I decided I did not want to sell my car to them anymore, and I texted them that. Keep in mind we did not make anything official, we never signed anything, we never met, they never even saw my car in person before, nor myself. We just agreed over text to meet and discuss and sign papers on the deal. Anyways, they got pissed and mad at me that I changed my mind, (not very professional of such a "high rated" dealership). So a couple weeks passes since then, and I get a call from my bank saying there has been fraudulent tampering with my vehicle mileage on Carfax. This is also known as vehicle mileage rollback. So I got an updated Carfax of my vehicle, and on the Carfax it says that my car is being sold by this company Lapin Motors and they reported a mileage reading on it that is 7k above what I actually have on the car. Look it up, mileage rollback, or in this case, roll up, or any tampering with a vehicles mileage is a civil and federal offense. You get butthurt because I changed my mind about selling my vehicle to you and you commit a civil and federal offense fraud and tamper with my mileage on Carfax. I have proof of everything, messages, the Carfax with their dealership name and their recorded mileage. I am in the process of filing a lawsuit and will get this place shut down. read more

Went into the dealership after finding a vehicle I was interested in and was welcomed immediately by Caleb. I advised him what I was looking for and he brought me to the vehicle. After visually going over the car I requested for it to be pulled out so I could further check out the car in the sunlight vs. the showroom floor. After giving me a considerate amount of time, Caleb asked if I was interested in a test drive. I was shocked to learn they let you test drive without the salesman (signed waivers of course). This further gave me the peace that I was not being rushed into a sale. When I arrived back at the dealership I had a few questions about the car. Come to find out Caleb happened to own a model similar to my purchase and was a fountain of knowledge. Prior to the test drive the Sales Manager (Joel) saw my 2017 Forester that I had intended to trade and seemed very interested in my vehicle. I gave him the keys to go over the Forester while on my test drive. Upon my return, Joel asked me how much I wanted for my Forester and stated I can offer you more. I went in with a number in mind based off local research and talking to a sales manager friend of mine in Hawaii. Joel honestly threw out a number I could not refuse and we proceeded with the transaction of both vehicles. Joel I felt worked on my behalf to find me the best lenders. In the end I was very happy with the deal and the relaxed atmosphere of the dealership. Being in the market for a couple of months, trying to find a bigger vehicle, we ended up at Lapin, after having a horrible experience at another dealership. To be completely honest, I was so skeptical, and very tired of going through the hoops with car salesmen at this point. I went into the dealership that week with a sour attitude, thinking we weren't going to find anything. However, I have never, ever, in the nearly decade of buying/selling cars, have had such a great experience. Caleb was the original salesman my partner had reached out to and he worked with his boss Joel, to give us the best experience possible. We made it there after work, just in time to test drive my car, and talk to Joel about numbers. Mind you we had a very very hangry toddler and Joel still stuck it out, after hours, to close the deal.
