The patio was covered with so many greenery and provided a lot of shades. We ordered a few items to share: - Toasted bread, chicken liver, and black truffle: a good appetizer to start off with. The chicken pate was good, a bit different from what I'm used to. - Pappardelle with pork ragu: this was super good. Love the pasta texture on this. Pork ragu sauce was also perfect. - Robalo ceviche, watermelon, Serrano pepper: a refreshing ceviche to balance out the meal. the watermelon added a bit of sweetness. - Pizza capocollo, radicchio, straquinella cheese: a good size pizza to share. I like thin crust. - Arugula, roasted tomatoes, Parmesan salad: fresh arugula that went perfectly with the roasted tomatoes. Every meal needs a good salad. - Ricotta stuffed zucchini blossoms: this was my favorite dish we tried. Such a unique combo of flavors. The ricotta cheese just melted when you bite into the zuchinni blossoms. It also had a light crispy texture. - Hummus and pita bread: another good choice for appetizer. The hummus was solid. Maybe Lardo is better for breakfast, but we didn't feel it was fully worth the hype for lunch. We'd made a reservation in advance for Saturday at 2PM. The interior was brightly lit with a large beautiful bar, and had the vibe of a French cafe. We were brought out some complimentary (pita-like) bread, which was nice, but would have been better with something like olive oil to dip it in. My friend and I ordered 3 items to share - the Ricotta Stuffed Squash Blossoms, Eggplant Parmesan, and Barbacoa. Portions were on the smaller side, but this was the perfect food quantity for us. Another Mexico City winner. Lardo is casual and fancy all at once, super lively, tons of plants, gorgeous space. The anchovy pizza? Delicious, exactly how we like it. The hummus with crispy garlicky flatbread was a surprise hit, so much garlic and I am here for it. The wild boar pappardelle was the star, get it. Burrata with beet, also great. This was, unfortunately, my worst meal in CDMX, and because it was also my most anticipated, that made it extra disappointing. We arrived a little early for our Monday night reservation and had to wait outside since they were busy. The ambiance inside is intimate- definitely a date-night vibe with tables very close together. We ordered the pizza, stuffed squash blossoms, kebab taco, and truffle gnocchi. The stuffed squash blossoms ended up being the most flavorful dish of the night- and that's not saying much, because most of the flavor came from the tomato sauce. The pizza was good, but nothing special. It was satisfying in a "carbs will save me" kind of way. We ordered the kebab taco cooked medium, but mine came out medium rare. If this were a steak, I wouldn't have minded, but ground beef at that temperature carries a food safety risk. After reading multiple reviews about people getting sick here, I wasn't comfortable taking that chance. I asked for it to be recooked, and the waitress was kind and brought out a fresh plate. It was decent, but again, nothing special. The truffle gnocchi was where things really went downhill. When it hit the table, it smelled like mildew. I know truffle can be strong and earthy, but this didn't seem right. I forced myself to take one bite so I wasn't judging off smell alone, but it tasted exactly how it smelled. My friend and I didn't even eat 1/8 of the dish, and it was the most expensive item we ordered. Low key felt like our waitress should've asked why we didn't eat the dish nor ask for it to be boxed but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The dessert, however, was the best thing I had all night. Truly divine. Now I can't tell if it was actually top-tier or if I was just so hungry and desperate for something good that it felt that way in the moment- but either way, it was the one bright spot. Unfortunately not great. We came in for dinner due to hearing great things and it being a gorgeous space. Service was good and attentive but unfortunetly thats where the good kind of ended. We planned on staying for a full dinner but after ordering the hummus, burrata and squash blossoms we were so underwhelmed we immedatley left. The food wasnt bad in terms of it tasting bad it just tasted like nothing, each dish we got was virtually flavorless. The bottle of wine we got was great but outside of that the food was truly not good. We wanted to love Lardo and I am sure it is great due to all the great reviews however our experience wasn't such. I would give them another shot next time I am in CDMX but my advice would be to avoid the appetizers at least. read more

This is the type of place you can find in any city and it will always draw a crowd due to the comfortable yet bougie devour and menu with endless appealing choices. Service was excellent and it was fun to watch each table enjoying themselves. All different languages being spoken. The menu... wow.. and the pastries, we skipped but really considered for a moment. They also have alternative milk options. I got a mocha and it was delicious and rich without being overly sweet. Several in our party had egg options and raved about them. As they're known for pastries, I ordered a fig croissant and a cardamom bun. There were so many options! The fig croissant was a nice croissant with a fig jam along the bottom layer, but the cardamom bun was the star. I regret that I can't get more! I guess it's know for breakfast but we had the best dinner there last night. We were at first bummed we had to sit at the bar (party of five) but it turned out to be the best seats in the house. I started with a wonderful glass of Montepulciano. Then I ordered the black rice and crab croquettes. So delicious. I shared the heirloom tomato salad and it was absolutely perfect. After seeing so many TikToks about this place, my sister really wanted to try it out for herself. It can be moderately difficult to get a reservation, so I definitely recommend scheduling one at least a few days in advance. However, my party of four arrived around 12 pm to try to walk in, and we only waited about 20 minutes before being seated. Once we sat down, we realized the menu was breakfast-based instead of their usual dinner menu. The breakfast options were a bit ordinary, but we still found things that appealed to us. My sister and I started with some pastries, including the guava roll and the leek and goat cheese bun. The guava was perfectly sweet, and the leek and goat cheese filling was savory and addicting, especially for someone like me who naturally prefers savory foods. The pastry dough itself was great too, super flaky and fluffy at the same time. The drinks, on the other hand, were nothing special. I ordered the grapefruit juice, and I highly recommend that no one ever order it. It was incredibly bitter and genuinely unpleasant to drink. The carrot, jicama, and ginger juice tasted like one of those wellness shots you'd get from a health bar in California. The coconut macadamia and cardamom drink tasted like holiday almond milk, which I actually kind of enjoyed, especially since it's the holiday season. I originally wanted to try the buttermilk and sweet potato hotcakes, but they had already run out, so I settled for the green chilaquiles with a fried egg instead. I was disappointed when it came without the burrata that the menu promised, and overall it was a pretty standard chilaquiles dish. The cactus pieces didn't do anything for me, but I did appreciate the addition of avocado since I'm a huge avocado lover. While I do think this restaurant has potential, I wouldn't recommend for anyone to visit when their breakfast/lunch menu is active since it is pretty standard with options that could be found at other typical brunch restaurants. Let's start by the fact that before I even knew they were a restaurant, I had already taken a video of their exterior because I was so enchanted by their overgrown plants. We had walked all around the La Condesa neighborhood and had quickly fallen in love with the area. We decided to come back in the morning to try out breakfast. My only regret about my visit to CDMX was that we weren't able to make it to Laredo's sister restaurant, Rosetta. Been here a couple times now for breakfast on my last two trips to Mexico City, and as the reviews say it's a popular spot so expect a line but it's not much of a wait on a weekday and looks like you can easily make reservations for dinner. If there is a wait, you can order coffee and pastries at the window while you wait to hold you over but luckily I've never had to use that. Last time we were able to sit immediately, order and eat within 45 minutes. I usually have pretty slim options for brunch, since I can't eat gluten or eggs, which was true for this spot but the chilaquiles here fit the bill and taste great. I love their fresh juices as well! Great place to refuel and start your day if you're not super rushed. It's a cute spot with tables and counter seating. The inside felt a bit darker than what I'm used to so we felt a bit sleepier as a result, but loved all the details (such as the plates and the rosemary water) of the restaurant. We finally got to visit this spot during our vacay and it did not disappoint! We went for a weekday breakfast. The hubby and I walked up and saw a line, but a very nice fellow patron let us know that the line was for takeout orders of coffee and pastry. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for two bar seats. Our dishes were amazingly delicious, but my saffron dish was exquisite. It was also a beautiful dish. Some fellow patrons actually asked me what I was eating because my food was so pretty. Of course, we also had to each try a pastry because everyone raves over the pastries here. We devoured a vanilla and sugar berliner, as well as their famous guava roll. Both pastries were packed with flavor, well balanced and not overly sweet like most pastries in the states. The outside seating area is pretty and the inside is just as pretty as a local cafe can possibly get.
