    Grilled shrimp dinner

Came here on a random weekday night and was quite pleased. The servers were very friendly, helpful, and prompt. They were knowledgeable about what and what wasn't gluten free. The food was delicious and big portions. I didn't have any complaints.

El Jefe burrito with rice and beans. All the sauce was on the left side as pictured.

In Starke to drop off my truck at Murray Ford, so combo'd dinner here with that, since we were already out. Wasn't very busy, but it was a little early when we arrived, and it was a Monday after all. We're seated immediately and server took drink orders. My sweet tea came right out, along with a basket of tortilla chips with a bowl of very tasty salsa. We split the El Jefe burrito, which came out promptly, hot and fresh. Mama took her portion, and I dug into the remainder, along with the beans and rice. When you see El Jefe on the menu, there's a little red pepper next to it, so I was expecting it to have some heat. Boy, was I wrong. I even commented to Mama that it seemed like something was missing in the burrito. And so it went until I got to the end of it, and I found myself sweating profusely and my mouth started burning a bit. Seems as though all the sauce was concentrated on that end and not spread out along the entire length. The rice was OK, but I found the beans to be a little salty for my taste. Mama doesn't like refried beans, so couldn't get a second opinion. Decor is typical Mexican restaurant, with a lot of painted scenes on the walls and the chair backs. Service was good, and I was even offered a sweet tea to go. We'll be back, cuz the fajitas at the next table smelled delicious as they passed by us being delivered.

Food was good. It's a small place that is tucked away in a little town, so it's nice a quiet! I have a vegetarian combo, which came with refried beans and rice. It's a bean burrito and a corn Chalupa.my hubby had Chile rejelleno which he devoured so fast we forgot to take pictures.

Food is always really good, served hot and quick. Service here lacks, so this isnt our 1st choice when going out for dinner.. 10/10 for the kitchen, however front of house makes my rating lower.

There are three things that make this place stand out in a sea of Mexican restaurants. 1. Service…read more- From the first time we came in, weeks after they opened, we found a unique feature. Every employee is considered your server. Yes, you'll have a primary, but you'll be asked several extra times if there is something you need, or to take dishes out of the way. At first it was a little annoying, but we've learned to love this excellent service. Then you will find there are some exceptional personalities that emerge. Our favorite is Leydis, but all the servers are well trained and work hard to make your visit special. Leydis' husband Orli is frequently the bar tender. For a special treat, try his "Margarita Fresca" made with fresh squeezed juices. 2. Decor - The restaurant is decorated with a vast range of hand carved furniture, which we learned is sourced from Tonola, a suburb of Guadalajara. As I understand it, the owner of the furniture factory is a partner on the restaurant as well, so there is some exceptional art. Be sure to wander a little while you can. 3. Food, there is a wonderful variety of choices, including some I'm sure you've never heard of. They do a great job on the molcajete. We have our "go to" dishes, including one they specialize just for me, but I encourage all to experiment. Two more special things to consider. First, we come a lot on Tuesdays in part to take advantage of Taco Tuesday (see photo). At $1.99 each, it's a better price than even fast food tacos, and you get these beasts instead. Second, be sure to ask for the hot salsa sampler. Each has a very unique flavor, but a manageable 'bite'. I think they should feature this, and include information on the origins of each flavor. *Absolutely* the best in Lake City, and our favorite anywhere in the states that we have visited. Well worth the trip for us (we drive 30 miles every week to go).

The event said no reservations needed, so we showed up not realizing how popular it would be. The place was PACKED with a line out the door! Even so, we only waited about 25 minutes for a table on Valentine's Day, which honestly wasn't bad at all considering the crowd. We went specifically for their Valentine's special: 2 margaritas, fajitas for two, and dessert, such a great deal! The margaritas were delicious. We ordered the Rita sampler and the blueberry margarita tasted like blueberry pie, so fresh, organic, and absolutely yummy. We also ordered homemade guacamole, which was delectable, paired with fresh, crispy homemade chips. Our fajitas included steak, pork, chicken, and shrimp, and everything was cooked to perfection. The flavors were incredible!!! And can we talk about the restaurant itself? It's HUGE! It felt like one of those multi-level Times Square NYC restaurants, with multiple floors and even outside patio seating. It was like a magic trick walking through it! Our waitress, Lia, was fantastic, attentive, helpful, and so sweet despite how busy it was. The staff worked incredibly hard all night and it showed. Plentiful parking, amazing food, great atmosphere. We will definitely be back to this hidden gem we didn't even know existed in town. Thank you for making our Valentine's Day special after a long day of yard work

The chips were hot and the salsa decent. Guacamole was gross. Rice was bland and not at all traditional Mexican rice. And once again, American cheese in the quesadilla! Grateful it was mainly on the edge, so we could still eat the chicken untouched by a poor excuse for cheese, especially in a quesadilla. Normally, the cheese not being evenly melted throughout the quesadilla would upset me, but I was happy this time so I could actually eat something that didn't taste like American cheese. The chicken was actually halfway decent and the tortilla was warm and nice and crispy on the outside. Did I mention there was AMERICAN CHEESE in the quesadilla? You guys. I can't.

Laredo was just minutes away from us, open for dining in or takeout, and based on reviews we went in. Place was not busy, we got a table as soon as we walked in. They brought us water, the menu and their chips with salsa. They also brought a spicier salsa upon request. The menu has everything you expect from a Mexican restaurant: quesadillas, tacos, fajita, enchiladas... Something for everyone. We were going to order to go but when I saw they had queso fundido I had to order it and of course eat there as this is always best when immediately out of the oven. Well, that was disappointing and why I had to take away one star. The chorizo tasted and looked like it was from a can, and the queso, definitely not "real" cheese. We had to send it back, and thankfully our server was very gracious about it and took it off our check. Not only that, his friendly and attentive service did not change toward us. He kept checking up on us, recommended certain dishes and made sure drinks were to our liking and offering to change them if not. For dinner I got one of his recommendations, the shrimp fajitas and that was really good! Lots of roasted vegies, which I always love. On the side all the condiments: sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo, chease and guace. Plus a side of delicious rice and refried beans. And, of course, warm tortillas. I was very happy with this and the portion. Enough I was full and shared with my boyfriend. He got the Burrito Frito with steak and the meat was cooked perfectly. Not dry or tough and good flavor. Good option in Lake Butler, with excellent service!
