The vegetarian fajita vegetables included mushrooms which we enjoyed and all were cooked to perfection. The nachos (we opted for chips on the side) were piled high with tasty toppings. The chorizo-pollo was lightly chargrilled to perfection with a generous serving of cheese. The gringos tacos were flavorful and the tortillas were soft. The beans tasted refried and charred if that makes sense. I lost at rock, paper, scissors so I had to go visit the salsa bar and bring back dips to try. They had some pretty good ones like their homemade chipotle dressing, salsa verde, salsa de molcajete, etc. There wasn't one that we didn't like. Our server was really great and took care of us well. I got a Tamarindo Margarita and to eat the Enchiladas Poblanas (chicken enchiladas with mole sauce, queso fresco, raw onions) with the normal side of refried beans and rice, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and guac. I got a side of extra cheese because I'm a little rat and dumped it on them. The mole sauce really hit the spot. The last time I had it the sauce was kinda bland but this gave such a nice sweet and earthy flavor. He got the Molcajete Azteca (lava rock bowl with char-grilled chicken, steak, chorizo, shrimp, queso fresco, grilled cactus, onions, avocados, serrano peppers, pork rinds), same sides as my dish. We have been here before, when it was better, from the food to customer service. Going there, they put a TV in and with about 80% capacity, at one point 5 employees were standing next to it watching TV. While we had ordered a drink which came out in good timing, the corona I ordered had a lemon in it. I was told they ran out of limes. What Mexican restaurant runs out of limes on a Friday at 7pm? No limes for street tacos, fajitas, or anything on the menu. We ordered steak fajitas that came out overcooked and dried out. The Carne Asada was of good proportion, but obviously not marinated, flavorless. The guacamole, sour cream, and a version of pico de gallo on the fajita salad was less than half you'll find at any other Mexican restaurant. With several of the waitstaff walking by our table I couldn't flag anyone down for another beer. When our waitress did show up, I ordered a beer and watched her walk to the table next to us (who she knew) and talk for close to five minutes. My beer never came and when I mentioned, "Don't worry about the beer I ordered, can we get our check". She laughed and said oh, I forgot. This is supply and demand, no other Mexican restaurant for miles and so the quality of food and customer service are mediocre at best. read more

Our family had an absolutely incredible dinner here recently, and I can't say enough good things about the experience. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this place operates on a different level of hospitality. The Food The menu selections are fantastic. There is a great variety to choose from, and everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. Whether you're looking for a classic favorite or something a bit more unique, they have you covered. The Service What truly sets this place apart, however, is the customer service. The staff's interactions with us were amazing--they were attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed happy to have us there. It's rare to find service that goes so far "above and beyond" the standard, but they managed to make our family dinner feel like a special occasion. Unfortunately, after our experience yesterday, it will likely be our last visit. Our server was kind, attentive, and did exactly what she should have done. At the beginning of our meal, I clearly informed her that my mother has a severe, anaphylactic seafood allergy and that extra care needed to be taken to avoid any cross-contamination. She acknowledged it and noted it with our order. Partway through the meal, my mother asked if I thought there was shrimp in her food because she believed she had tasted it. There was only one bite left, so my husband ate it to check--and it was indeed shrimp. Because my mother has a life-threatening seafood allergy, every minute matters when it comes to preventing a serious reaction. I immediately notified our server, who handled the situation professionally and went to get the manager. Unfortunately, the manager's response was one of the most disappointing customer service experiences I've ever had. Instead of asking if my mother was okay or apologizing for what had happened, his first response was to ask whether we had "proof" there was shrimp in the dish. Since the food had already been eaten, of course there wasn't a piece left to show him. When I asked if he genuinely believed we were making this up, he nodded and said he "kind of" thought we were lying because "this happens all the time." Being accused of lying while dealing with a potential anaphylactic reaction was unacceptable. Food allergies are not inconveniences; they can be life-threatening. Luckily I had Benadryl on me to help sustain the reaction until we got home to give her further care. This review is ultimately about food safety and management. Restaurants have a responsibility to take allergy notifications seriously, and managers should know how to respond with empathy, professionalism, and concern when something goes wrong. Instead, we were met with accusations and disbelief. I also requested the owner's contact information, and initially no one was willing to provide it. Thankfully, our server eventually did. It's incredibly disappointing because we've loved El Patio for years. Sadly, this experience has completely changed how we view the restaurant. I sincerely hope ownership addresses both the kitchen's allergy procedures and the management training surrounding food allergies and customer care, because the next family may not be as fortunate
