I'm hot, dressed only in sweat, lying on the floor of Dino's bathroom. I never knew Dino, but I am well familiar with his legacy. It all started back in 2017. My old buddy "D-FENS" we called him, because now he works for the DoD, and I stopped by the Seaville Institution that is Dino's one summer evening. I've never been the same since. If I think back, I'd wager I've housed upwards of 40 double cheese burgers with avocado over the course of the nine years since. Sometimes three per session. Anyway, at Dino's you will find something long forgotten in the annals of our age. They built the asylums to contain those who knew of its secret, to reeducate them, but at Dino's the truth still whispers to those with ears to hear. I am going now, back to room where they feed me that which was promised to me. Bless you all.

We dined at Dino's for dinner during the week in the summer with a party of 8. They do not take reservations even for larger parties, but we were seated immediately upon arriving. From the menu, the vibe, the layout, and the decor, everything about Dino's screamed diner. Lots of menu options to choose from, but everyone was set on seafood. We started with two orders of the Stuffed Mushrooms with Crabmeat. What a start to our meals. They were surprisingly delicious, diner or not! Our entrees came with a soup or salad, and two sides. My wife opted for the split pea soup while I upgraded to snapper soup for a $1 up charge. Both soups were very good as well, and the dollar up charge for the snapper soup was totally worth it. Most of us opted for some kind of broiled seafood platter. I ordered the broiled seafood combo which came with shrimp, scallops, flounder, deviled clam, and a crab cake. My wife chose the broiled scallops and flounder. While the crab cake and deviled clam were delicious, we both agreed the flounder, shrimp, and scallops were bland. As sides we had green beans, fried zucchini, baked potatoes, French fries, and mashed potatoes, most of which were underwhelming. My father-in-law's mashed potatoes came out barely warm, the marinara we requested for the zucchini tasted more like stewed tomatoes, and my baked potato was kind of soggy from being wrapped in foil. Seven of our dinners arrived fairly quickly. Our server, who was actually very good, informed me that someone bumped her tray and they needed to remake my entree. All good, I understand things happen, but my meal didn't come out until everyone else was almost finished eating so I felt rushed. I was offered ice cream or Jell-o as consolation which was a nice gesture, but not worth me accepting especially since we were all so stuffed from the huge portion sizes. I would 100% give Dino's another chance. There were definitive bright spots: stuffed mushrooms, soups, crab cakes, deviled clams, green beans. Next time I'd pass on the seafood and leave the diner food to the diner. Dino's was and I did not notice anybody else ordering seafood. Maybe just a rookie mistake on our part.

And I have to say, my review remains the same at 5 stars...JJ's Diner does not disappoint! Our awesome server was Mary Ann with an M ....she gave us friendly and warm service and she was very attentive. Our food came out hot and was delicious - - i had another waffle, but this time with just bananas - -and hubby had scrambled eggs and hash browns covered in cheese - - and he LOVED every bite as did I. And the coffee is just perfect! JJ's is a bright light and such a heavenly oasis. Everyone should be as happy and positive as the people that work at JJ's. They have worked hard to provide this consistently good food and service over the years. We will make it a point to be back again next time we are in town.

That's creamed chipped beef over toast with two eyes any style but I get mine poached or over easy accompanied by grits. Yes. Grits. Which explains my finally trying their sausage and gravy. Quite traditional dish I'm told by a Floridian friend who I had join me this past week while she visited. We agreed that the server was allowing us the time we needed to catch up with the right amount of follow up. I'd have liked to have my water refilled one more time. But that was on me for not stopping to ask as she poured another cup of coffee for my friend. I've had their coffee and it's delicious. My friend enjoyed the international omelette. She enjoyed it. The diner has its own parking lot with plenty of parking. The inside is eclectic but with definite typical Jersey diner vibes and the counter and stools to go with it. I've sat at the counter and the service is cordial and inviting. Quick too when necessary. Enjoy if you are coming to or from ACY as it's close and you'll feel satisfied either arriving into the area before heading to AC or returning home. Enjoy!
