Buyers are going to pay NM excise tax on the purchase price of the vehicle and registration fees no matter where they buy a vehicle BUT at Moto Authority buyers get gouged with an excessive document fee for Moto Authority making the trip to MVD. Moto Authority gets a commission for selling your bike and on top of that they gouge the buyer with an excessive document fee for their time. They should be satisfied with the commission on the sale of a bike they have no money invested in. They do provide floor space to display the bike and their overhead and operating costs are real BUT the sales commission should cover the trip to MVD. Moto Authority says that "For Over 17 Years: New Mexico's Preferred Choice for Motorcycles..." BUT that reputation was built by the old owner. The new owner(s) acts like a car dealer with inflated after the sale fees. When you want to sell your bike the smart move is to spend $5 and advertise your bike on Craigslist. The buyer will pay you directly and you won't pay commission to anyone. Then the buyer goes to MVD to pay the tax and registration fees without paying a document fee. That's MORE money in YOUR pocket and more money in the buyer's pocket. 10/11/25 EDIT to the owner: Your "document fees" are excessive and that is a FACT. If your consignment customers don't list their bikes on Craigslist and keep more money in theirs and the buyers pockets then they deserve what they get at Moto Authority. Your "pride" in your document fees won't get you what you think. I supported Moto Authority in the past and always got a fair deal from Steve but I wouldn't buy a quart of oil from you.

The guys at R&S are fun to deal with. More importantly to me, they can RIDE the sh1z out of whatever you throw under them. They know, because they do. In addition to the 2 I've purchased from R&S, I also have my "war pig" 2021 Yamaha FJR1300ES. The service department keeps my fundamentals in order, and does all the work I don't have tools to do. Today, they hunted down the needed tool to do a wheel/rim swap out. Then they flipped the Angel GT II carcass from old to new rim. The extra mile to make sure a customer can get out and ride! Kyle, my service writer, made it happen. Thank y'all! I took it for a tire scrub ride. That new wheel rides like a... and, the compliments! Got kids loving the old man's version of a sport bike. Thanks to the parts department, it's now wrapped in 2022 front and side fairings (the difference by year is the color. The cobalt blue metallic is 2022, the liquid graphite is 2021.) I wanted my bike to stand out, and it does! Every couple years I replace the fairings, R&S keeps me covered.

I purchased a used BMW 650gs motorcycle from Motopia on 5/24/24 and drove it home. After a couple…read moredays it began stalling so I called Motopia, told them the problem and Bob said to take it to BMW dealer because they didn't have tools to fix BMW's. I dropped off the motorcycle at the BMW service dept. on 6/1 (where it stayed for a month) BMW couldn't figure out what is wrong with it so they charged me $700 to replace some parts. They want to charge me another $2000 for more parts that may or may not fix the problem. I called Motopia and talked to Jessie explained what's going on and asked if they can help with the repairs and he said it's my problem not theirs. I reported this to B.B.B. and Motopia's resolution was this: If Mr.***** can return the vehicle in the condition in which he received it we can discuss a remedy by either arranging a wholesale purchase of the motorcycle or trading it towards a newer unit with a warranty. So I went to return the motorcycle and Jessie gave me a low ball deal on the BMW and basically said I can't afford their newer units, now I'm stuck with a bike that doesn't run. It's sad that a business can take advantage of an elderly native-american man and smile at the same time.

I brought my bike in for what I…read morethought was going to be a routine service and hopefully, an intermittent issue that I had been dealing with for years would be addressed, instead of hearing the usual, "we weren't able to replicate the issue, so we don't know what you're referring to." Along with the usual service checks, their initial thought that I was missing a jet kit was correct. They also discovered that one of the diaphragms was damaged and sorted that out. Bike sounded great, ran great, job done. But, lo and behold, the damaged diaphragm wasn't the cause of the intermittent issue. Back I went, and wouldn't you know, my bike didn't misbehave at all in their care until I went to leave. Finally, a mechanic heard exactly what I had been trying to explain. So, back to work they went trying to chase down the problem. This was such an intermittent problem, they thought they had found the cause and fixed it. And once again, it reared its ugly head as I was about to leave. So back to work they went, once more checking everything over. After much head scratching and working through the usual culprits, the source of the problem had been isolated and addressed. I'm back on the road, and the bike no longer has an occasionally missing cylinder. Now the only question for me is, how far down that rabbit hole do I wish to go? I honestly can't recommend J&D cycles enough. When most bike shops only wanted oil changes or wouldn't touch a bike more than 10 years old (really??) J & D said, "Bring it in." I had an idea as to how much this was likely to run. What I was expecting it to cost and what it cost me in the end wasn't the same, it came in a little under what I thought it was going to cost me, so again, thank you!

Before they even took it to the shop for repairs, Mike listened to it run and asked a me few questions and said let's take off the seat. Within 2 minutes he found the issue to be broken wires in a wire harness! They made all the repairs, full maintenance plus I had them replace all 4 axles. It runs like a champ now. While I was there, I started looking at new ATV's because my old 2001 had died (so I thought) the day before. I kicked a few tires and asked the saleswomen(both of them) tons of questions and they had the answers to everything....technical, specs, performance, cost, etc... So, I went ahead a bought one. When I went in to take delivery of the ATV, they had it on the showroom floor detailing it immaculately. They then proceeded to give me a detailed informative run down of the ATV.
